This GTX is not only an awesome restored show condition car, it is a very rare car with only 2,211 1971 GTX 440-4bbl automatic hardtops ever made!!!
The GTX has been fully restored from front to back. The drivetrain, front/rear suspension, engine bay, trunk, interior, gas tank, rear end, fuel lines, brake lines, and air grabber have all been restored to a very high quality restoration. This awesome GTX was mainly completed about 10 years ago and now has just had a fresh light restoration! The GTX will be an excellent car to be driven on nice days to shows and cruises. A restoration of this caliber takes a lot of time, patience and money to be done correct. Please understand this is not your average “driver” condition GTX!!!
I typically restore or finish around 10 Mopars a year and have been working on them for more than 25 years and I do everyone as they were my own to keep. I put a lot of time, effort, pride and money in the cars that I offer for sale which is evident when viewing one of my cars compared to others for sale. This is one of the few cars you can view in person and say that it is actually nicer than the photos.

PAINT, BODY AND FRAME The body is extremely straight and clean and in excellent shape. The trunk floor, trunk extensions, wheel well housings, doors, floor boards, quarters and fenders are all in great original condition. The rear quarters had only the center area over the wheel section replaced. The frame and floorboards are in excellent original shape. The undercarriage is very clean and neat with no rust and has the original green paint under the factory undercoat. The PPG FJ6 Sassy Grass Green base/clear paint was done around 12 years ago and looks like it is fresh out of the paint booth. The outside of the inner fenders were also painted body color. Even the jams are awesome on this car including both doors and the trunk jam. The super high-gloss deep clear coat shine was just professionally wet sanded with 1500 and 2000 grit paper to achieve a high caliber ultra finish. This long process alone took over 40 hours and the finish shows it! The door jams are super nice and clean and you can see the factory seems all the way around the edges. The are only a few very minor flaws in the paint: very small brush touch chip on the back corner of the hood (shown in photo), couple very small chips on the very bottom of the 1/4 ’s (behind the tires)
GLASS, CHROME AND TRIM The front windshield is newer and the rear glass is in nice original condition. The side glass is in very good original shape and only has a few minor small scratches. All the glass is factory tint and all date coded with exception to the new front glass. The front and rear bumpers are newer and in excellent condition. The outside door handles and antenna are newer. The trim pieces are super clean and were polished for optimum shine. The front grill has been restored and has the correct GTX emblem. The taillights and rocker moldings are very nice original’s (also restored) and look beautiful. The taillight bezel is newer.
INTERIOR The black interior has been completely restored and looks excellent! Some new items are the door panels, arm rest pads, door handles, window cranks, carpet, speaker shelf, trunk divider, sill/scuff plates, seat covers (Legendary Auto), headliner, glove box liner, door and roof rail weather-stripping and dash pad. The Rallye dash cluster is also in very nice restored original condition with factory tachometer. All factory gauges work and operate correctly. All lighting works as should including the high/low beams, dome light, reverse lights, tail lights, parking lights, turn signals, four-way flashers, and license plate light. The fan motor (switch mounted on bottom of the dash), horn, factory AM/FM radio (radio AM works but problem with FM) and E-brake all work. The A/C heater box and most of the factory duct work is still under the dash if anyone is looking to add the A/C back on. I have another working correct AM/FM radio that I will include.
DRIVE TRAIN The strong running all rebuilt 440-6
is a 1972 steel crank motor with well under 5,000 miles on it! It has the correct 440 hp manifolds on

Mopar coil. The engine was completely rebuilt

magnafluxed, bored .030 over and decked, polished crank, 6 pack forged pistons,
recon. rods, crane adjustable rockers and push rods, totally redone heads with
minor street porting, hardened seats, valves, springs, stems, seals etc… Also
had new freeze plugs, gaskets, fuel pump and was upgraded oil pump and hemi oil
pan. The 440 makes excellent power and
runs great. This engine runs extremely
smooth and very easy to drive in any given traffic condition. The motor does
not smoke, tick or make any noises. The casting date on the 440 is
The automatic 727 was completely rebuilt from front to back and shifts excellent through the gears and is an absolute blast to drive! The ID number is 3A237413 making it a 1973 trans. The GTX has excellent drivability and cools well even in stop and go traffic. This excellent drive train combo runs and drives awesome in all conditions whether highway or city driving. Also added were a electric thermostat controlled fan and a heavy duty tranny cooler!
The Air Grabber works excellent! It has a brand new factory on/off switch and vacuum lines. It opens and closes excellent and looks super cool!!! It is a very nice factory Mopar set up that was added some time ago along with the hood!

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]
Mon, 16 Jun 2014
We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars
Wed, 30 Jul 2014The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
