Up for sale is a 1976 Plymouth Gran Fury Police Car, this is a PK41 U code 440 police package vehicle.
I became aware of the Fury in July of 2011, it was posted on Ebay by the previous owner. The car was located in Lynchburg Virginia, based on paperwork found in the car it is likely the Fury has been off the road since 1981. I purchased it in June of 2012 and transported it to Manassas Virginia.
The Fury was shipped to me in Florida in May of 2013, at that time I began the repair and evaluation process.
The Fury is the most complete and original vintage cruiser I have observed. I appears that the engine bay has been unmolested since its production.
The car was equipped with the Carter Thermo-Quad and all the associated vacuum lines and switches and sensors.
I would guess that this is a numbers matching car, I say this because every clip, bracket and connection seems to be intact
After securing the Fury in Virginia I poured a gallon of PB blaster and two quarts of transmission fluid into the carburetor, I let the mix set for several months.
I pulled the plugs and lubricated the cylinders, added fresh gas, jumped the ignition relay and the long dormant 440 ROARED to life.
Since Then:
-windshield has been replaced
-steering column and speedometer / replaced
-brake master cylinder / replaced
-brake calipers, brake hoses[3] / replaced
-hi-pressure power steering hose replaced
-radiator / replaced with a serviced,used unit
-thermostat / replaced
-Carter Thermo Quad carb removed and replaced with an Edelbrock
-cap,rotor,wires and plugs / replaced
-replaced wiper grommets
-replaced fuel pump
-replaced fuel tank with a solid flushed unit
-installed used 235-70-15 Firestone tires on straight ,slotted wheels
-two brand new headlights
-I have the correct functioning spotlight with bracket
-removed heater box from under dash, cleaned it out, checked heater core and AC evaporator, lubricated all doors and switches and returned unit to correct function
-serviced electrical system and at this time have regained all electronic function except the power locks, they respond but require some more attention
Body:
-the paint is original and seems to take and hold a shine when buffed, it appears the front doors have been repainted and do not respond to the buffer
-I replaced the deck lid, the original had rotted on the inside
-rear quarters are solid overall except for the area behind the wheels and the dogleg on the right side [ I have a repair section for the dogleg ]
-front fenders are bad at the rear bottom
-floors are solid in the front but weak in the rear, the area where the feet rest will have to be re-worked on both sides
-trunk floor is solid overall but does have some rust in odd spots.
-body is straight and does not appear to have been hit or repainted [ other than front doors ]
Current running condition: Pump gas pedal once, turn key, car starts on a 1/2 revolution
Included in the sale:
-better right front door
-99% crack free dash pad
-vinyl seats front and rear that are in good shape
-option of slotted wheels or solid police wheels

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars
Sat, 18 Jan 2014The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books
Thu, 25 Sep 2014The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
