This car would make a good project driver. It seems to run good.Has good oil pressure.Brakes work good.Lights and turn signals workBody is very straight.I did not find any rust.I cannot get down to where i can look real good at the whole underneat, but under the wheel wells ,and rockers look good. The trunk looks good.It has what looks like new black carpet, and the floor feels real solid. The seats are not tore up.They are not perfect, but look pretty good.Door pannels are good. The top looks fairly new,and is in good shape. The top motor works, and top goes up,and down.Grill, and chrome look pretty decent. The piece of chrome, missing on pass.side,is there, loose. The back quater window is out,but it,and the mechinism is in the trunk. The boot,is good, has one little spot,on drivers side, that shows some wear.About the size of a quater. The 2 barrell carb,is a little flakey, but i just bought anothe one, that is supposed to be good. The person,i got it from said the speedo was working, from what he remebered, but it does not.May just be the cable. It has been sitting at his place, for a year,or more, and i have not done anythig with it,in the year, that i have had it.I drove it down the road,a few days ago,and it drives, and shifts good.I think the automatic adjuster on the brake spring is hanging up,sometimes. It makes a noise, when you hit the brake, going forward,or back.It looks like it has been parcialy sanded down, getting ready for paint. It was a firemist red.The dash pad looks new.The rear quater pannels, just behind the doors, have been reapolstered, and not too good of a job.I think they should have used more glue, and a little more trim on material. The glove box door on the consul,in the pics,is off,but it is in the car.One of the top pans leaks a little. It made a spot about the size of a coffee cup,in the year it was in my garage.I probably started it a dozen times.I kind of thumped on the sides of the car,and did not find a bunch of bondo.Im shure there is probably some, but i don,t think there is a bunch.I took the car in trade on another project, and have too many ahead of it to justify keeping it around. The wheels look like they are fairly new.Tires look good, but here with the az.heat,i would not put too much trust in them.Radio is there, but i don,t think it is wired up.If i can think of anything more,i will add it later. If you have questions,i will do my best to answer them.Buyer needs to arange shipping,or come and get it.I have a real easy place to load, for trucks,or trailer.I will help if i can...Thanks for looking.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
