1973 PLYMOUTH DUSTER 340 4-SPEED MUSCLE CAR PROJECT

For sale is this rare & real classic muscle car stuck in 1981. It was last driven in the early 80s when the motor was pulled to get a rebuild that never happened. You must supply the motor but it comes with just about everything you need including the 4 speed & posi rear end. It was built/ordered? to be a drag car: check out the many extra rear leaf springs, the power front disc brakes, front sway bars & manual steering! The old gauges, 8 track player & faded period paint job show the era the car last lived in. I just bought the car so know very little about its history but its obvious it had an interesting life & has been waiting a long time for someone to get around to a full restoration. I did carefully check the undercarriage, as the photos show, while it was on my rollback & the frame IS solid. The floors are all good except for behind the drivers seat. The trunk floor is very good. It will need a trunk lid, the hood looks good, the fenders may be salvageable, doors & hinge areas are fine but it will need lower quarters. The doors open & close with no flop & there is no twist or droop from a swiss cheese frame. The dual exhaust appears to be factory down to the factory tips, clamps & brackets.

The black interior is complete with a clean gauge cluster that shows a recently flipped odometer. The dash board is in pretty good shape: even the carpet shows little wear. All the glass is good with no chips, cracks or fog.

Bidding starts at a fair price considering the 4 speed trans, rare posi rear end, power disc brakes, factory exhaust tips & rally wheels not to mention the clear title. There is no reserve & no buy it now price so any bids are going to be from REAL bidders interesting in owning this RARE car. It wont end until the last bid is made so please dont make offers. If you do bid please follow thru & complete the sale & be certain of what you are buying BEFORE bidding. If you wish to know more please email your questions. If you wish to see the car in person simply email me.

A non-refundable deposit of ONLY $100 is required from the winning bidder, due via PayPal within 24 hours after the auction ends. (this proves you are fully committed to completing this transaction).  No trades.   Full payment is due within 7 days of auction end via cash in person, bank-to-bank or wire transfer, or certified bank check (drawn on a major US bank).  Clear VA title is in hand and vehicle can be scheduled for buyer pickup by appointment at anytime after full payment is received and cleared.  The car is located in Salem, VA. 24153, near Roanoke, VA at mile marker 128 off I81.

We are happy to work with the buyer to arrange shipping.  We realize the deal is not complete until you have the vehicle in your possession & we want that as badly as you do.  Its only fair that once full payment is made that you should get your purchased item quickly.  Rest assured we will do everything in our power to insure that happens as quickly & safely as possible.  Once you decide on a carrier we work directly with your shipper to get the job done & report back to you just as quickly.  Anything you need, we are here to serve.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
