You get what you pay for in this life.  Price is long forgotten after the quality is enjoyed year after year.  This car wins "Best Of Show" everywhere It goes and it doesn't go in a trailer, it DRIVES THERE. This car is worth every dime I'm asking but I will entertain reasonable offers. Please don't send me nasty messages telling me that my price is NUTS or that I'm crazy.  I know I'm asking top dollar for this car but this is a top dollar car and could NEVER be reproduced for less than 50K.  If you think you can do it . . . . . good luck with that.

This is a TRUE all numbers matching, absolutely pristine 1970 Plymouth Duster 340.  It is stunning with no expense spared. 

This Duster 340 was built on June 12, 1970 (Friday) at the Las Angeles, California Plant.  It is a factory undercoated car and consequently has no rust.  It has been well preserved.  It is very original and like I said before you will be hard pressed to find a better example.  The car handles like new.  It does not rattle, squeak, wander or make strange noises and it tracks perfectly straight going down the road.  It is easy to drive, does not overheat and is blistering fast. Everything works including the radio.

You can find videos of this car by searching “ Dave Mitton Duster 340 ” on YouTube.  Here you will find videos of the final assembly for the heads.  Intake was prepared by the same shop and port matched to the heads. Also, you will find a couple of walk around videos of the car and even a launch video of the car.  Keep in mind that the launch video was shot in front of my house in Utah at an altitude of 5000 ft.  The car performs much better at lower elevations. Also, that video was shot when the car had the stock 11” 1200 stall converter in it.  I have been nice to the car.  It has not been driven hard.  It has never been to the track but with the right tires the car will easily go in the mid 12’s no problem.  This car is real fun to drive.

340 Engine is original to this car Numbers Matching H Code.  It was cast on Wednesday March 4th 1970 and has been freshly rebuilt bored .30 over for freshen up and still retains it’s original forged crank and factory rods. Real deal 340 HP engine here.

Transmission is Numbers Matching and original to the car.  It is a recently refreshed 727 Torque Flight Heavy Duty 3 Speed Automatic with a factory original console shifter.

Rear End is the original 489 Sure Grip with a brand new set of 3:55 US Strange Gears.

The carburetor is a Quick Fuel 650 but an Edelbrock 600 comes with the car if you want to put it back for the factory look.  The Quick Fuel does wonders for this car. No kidding.

Intake manifold is a hand ported and port matched Edelbrock RPM Performer.  The factory original intake also comes with the car if you want to put it back.

The radiator is the original 1970 340 Automatic with a date code of Thursday May 21, 1970.  It has been absolutely and perfectly concourse restored by Glen-Ray Radiator and upgraded for maximum cooling capacity.  It is absolutely breathtaking to look at and works even better than it looks. The car also retains it’s original fan and shroud.

Heads are professionally ported polished and port matched Edelbrock Aluminum RPM Performer.  Compression is 10:1 and the car comes with a set of vintage 340 heads if you want to put them back.  They are “J” Heads not “X” Heads.

Exhaust Manifolds are TTI Ceramic Coated Heat Barrier Treated Headers fed into a 2 1/2 Inch Complete TTI X Pipe exhaust and tips going through Turbo Flow Mufflers.  The car also comes with it’s original HP 340 Exhaust Manifolds if you want to put em back.

Stall Converter is a 10” 2800 Stall that works wonders for this car.  The factory original 11” Converter and flex plate also come boxed up with the car if you want to put em back.

Axles are original to the car small bolt pattern axles that have been upgraded to green sealed bearings. The original Tapered (Timken) Bearings also come with the car if you want to put em back. The left hand threads have been converted to right hand threads on the left side of the car. 1970 was the last year for left handed threads.

All hoses and clamps including PVC, Heater, Radiator, Power Steering and Spark Plug Wires are date correct and concourse perfect for the manufacture date of the car. No detail was overlooked here.  The engine bay on this Duster 340 is it’s best feature.

Ignition has been upgraded to electronic including a new state of the art “Rev-N-Nator” box.  This is a very nice upgrade that looks like a stock Mopar Orange Box, but gives you the added benefits of a rev limiter and an internal electronic flywheel that manages the timing curve perfectly keeping the initial advance at about 18 and total advance at about 36.  Amazing product.

Rally Dash is original.  A tachometer was added and looks factory correct for the car but the original tachometers delete plate also comes with the car if you want to put it back.

Steering wheel is currently a wood grain "Tuff Wheel" but the factory original 3 spoke A-Body only steering wheel is flawless and it comes with the car if you want to put it back.

Spare Tire looks to be original to the car but as you can see from the pictures is practically perfect in every way.

Please don’t send me messages telling me that the car has “Cragar Mags” instead of Rally Wheels.  I know that. The correct set of wheels and beauty rings can be had for $1200 at Coker Tire or Wheel Vintiques.  If you want em . . . . you can put em on the car.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson.
