True Survivor!  1974 Plymouth Barracuda. Started to restore, all original, 2 owner local car.  Most all mechanical work has been done and I have receipts for all. Motor rebuilt, purple shaft cam, added 4 barrel and stock intake,Flowmasters, dual exhaust, new brakes, front end rebuild, shocks,  original trans professionally rebuilt, have all parts that were removed from car and have been labeled and stored. Interior is all original, seats are ripped and faded, plastic panels need replaced too. Dash is cracked in several places, I removed headliner.  Console is excellent, no holes in floor, new carpet was put in as I drive car occasionally until getting the body done.  All original date coded glass in excellent condition.  Jack instructions sticker is faded, but in place from factory. When engine was being rebuilt, I had the engine bay professionally repainted the stock "Y5 Yellow Blaze" color.  Body has never been worked on.  I have 2 new rear quarter patch panels purchased from Stephens Performance as well as a dual exhaust rear valance for the car.  New trunk mat also.  Minor rust in rockers, rust through on lower rear quarters.  Grill is there but cracked in many places. Trunk has minor rust through.  Trunk lid and roof paint actually shine pretty good.  Cars runs excellent but is not driven enough.  Sounds great too.  I have original 2 barrel and intake as well as every part removed from car when I started restoration.  I have run out of money and time to finish it and have other needs right now.  Have build sheet,(was under seat), drove the car home when I bought it in a small town in Arkansas. I am a survivor nut, and I bought the car to restore to original but still drive while doing so.  Decided to have motor rebuilt but changed things to be more like a stock 340- 4 barrel car.  I have all info on what was done. Kind of hard to let it go. Was owned by State Trooper who I bought it from.  Was a local car in his home town about 60 miles from mine.  I have owned it for about 10 years now. Too much to explain, but would be happy to talk on phone with any serious inquiries.  Call Joe  501-984-2696  Car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end auction early. Will consider trade or trade + cash  for a 69' Road Runner survivor/driver quality??? (That's what I really want to find someday...sold mine in HS and still not over it) LOL

On Apr-26-13 at 19:19:07 PDT, seller added the following information:

Forgot to mention: Car has 8 3/4 rear end, power steering, front disc brakes, 904 trans, and when motor was rebuilt, we installed 340 heads on it. E mail for more pics. Thanks

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
