You are bidding on a 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S 340.  This car has less than 500 miles since a complete nut and bolt restoration.  The 340 engine and transmission are fresh and built to stock specifications.  This is NOT a numbers matching motor but dates are close. All hoses and wiring are new and fresh.  The rear end is an 8.75 with a 3.23 SureGrip.  All suspension was rebuilt to stock specs except the steering box which was upgraded to a quick ratio and the shocks which are now Koni gas.  Wheels are stock 14X 5.5 steelies with plymouth dog dish centers.  Tires are new redline radials.  Exhaust is all new from the HIPO manifolds back to include the correct factory chrome tips.  This car was originally green on green and changed to Black base /Clear and is extremely, extremely straight.   The rear quarter panels and drop downs were replaced and a small hole in the floor pan was patched before paint. The overall structure and metal on this car was very nice to start with. The Grills on this car are extremely nice as are the bumpers which have been re-chromed.  The 340-S call outs on the hood are some of the nicest unrestored pieces I've seen and the hood mounted turn signals are new reproductions. The trunk trim is also very nice along with the tail light bezels.  The rear lenses are originals and are nice. The interior was completely restored in red, new Legendary seat covers, new headliner, new door panels, new carpet,  The dash is extremely nice and all gauges work and chrome bezel was restored.  It has a very nice restored wood steering wheel and red horn button.  All glass is very nice and clear. with new gaskets, window fuzzies etc.

This is a super nice car that will compete very well at shows and drives even better.  These cars are very rare and even harder to find in this condition.  You will not be able to come close to restoring this car for the reserve price.  This car is being sold to finance two more projects.

We reserve the right to end this auction at any time as it is for sale locally.  Winning bidder must send a $500 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours. The title is clear and will only be signed over once payment has cleared.  Buyer is responsible for shipping and picking up car in a timely manner. All ebay rules apply,  Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!!

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.
