1968 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback
- Engine
318 rebuilt by professional machine shop in 2008, driven less than 3,000 miles since rebuild. New cam and lifters, new exhuast valves, ARP rod bolts, resized rods, 9.5:1 pistons, bored .030 over, polished crank, valve job, surfaced. Dyno was 300hp/350ft lbs trq.
- Transmission
904 rebuilt by professonal shop, with mild shift kit, also installed in 2008. Original trans comes with car.
- Body
The body of this car is SOLID. Inner fenders and fenders are rust free, doors and rocker panels are rust free. The floors and trunk are solid with only minor surface rust under some of the factory coating. The only rust in this car is in the quarter panels. Two new quarters come with the car. The car has some small dings, the passenger side rocker panel has a dent and the passenger side quarter has a dent in the rear corner. This car has all the original metal and it is in amazing condition for being 45 years old.
- Trim
The trim has some dings but is in good driver condition, it could easily be reworked to be perfect.
- Interior
The interior of the car has been removed but is complete with the exception of the door panels. The front seats need new foam and covers, the rear seat is in good condition with no rips in the fabric. The lower dash is in good shape but upper dash is cracked badly. I have a black dash cover for the upper dash that comes with the car.
- Suspension and Brakes
The front suspension and power steering gear box were replaced in 2007. A disc brake conversion was added to the front in 2008 when the motor was rebuilt; the rear drums were rebuilt at that time also. The rear end is an 8 3/4 sure grip with 3.23 gears.
- Misc.
New gas tank and sending unit installed in 2005. Have receipts for most work done, including motor and transmission rebuild. ($4,200 in receipts not including new quarter panels, disc brakes, and gas tank.)
This car runs and drives great and would be a great car to restore. If you have any questions feel free to ask, there is nothing to hide with this car and I will give you any information I know. Local pick up or buyer arranged shipping only. Serious inquiries only, please. Do not bid if you do not plan on buying.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars
Sat, 18 Jan 2014The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars
Wed, 30 Jul 2014The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
