1982 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Brougham

 Odometer: 87000

 Paint color: Light Silver/Blue

 Drive: RWD

 Fuel: Diesel

 Transmission: Automatic

 Title status: “Clean,  Michigan title.”

This is a rare survivor! You are viewing an 82 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight 4 door diesel.

It has 87k original miles. It has the 350 diesel motor, turbo 350 transmission, (factory air,not working), sunroof, factory CB radio.

It has never seen snow, barn kept winters under car cloth dust cover for last 32 years.

The car has been driven occasionally on nice summer days by same elderly owners for all these years, extremely clean and well maintained. The took great pride in this car. Their initials are even engraved above the interior door handles!

Some very minor body paint blemishes shown in pics, see the close up pics.

Starts, runs, drives good. Interior is nice with some light soiled areas that will likely shampoo out. Headliner sags slightly in rear.

Note:

"Transmission first gear kicks in between 30 and 40 mph which seems a little late to us but transitions smoothly after that in the higher cruising gears right up to 80 mph. "We personally drove this car over 100 miles at speeds up to 80 mph to test it and we believe it is road worthy."

Trunk lid shocks will not hold up the lid. Air is disconnected, old gentleman who has had this since new says it will work if connected, but unverified by us. The cruise control does not work.

There are non drips, leaks, "notice no wet spots underneath", no overheating of the engine or transmission, runs cool and has good oil pressure. The vinyl top is beautiful!

Important:

"We believe in full transparency to the best of our ability, the rest is up to you the bidder! This should make for a smooth transaction for all involved"

"Car is sold as is, with no warranty whatsoever implied."

"The car is available throughout the auction to view/drive locally and/or we will answer your questions to the best of our ability so that you have an informed choice by email."

"Please note: $200 deposit due at end of auction via PayPal and balance due within 1 week of auction close by check or cash. Car can leave our facility only when funds clear the bank."

"No large payments are excepted by us through PayPal."

"You may leave your car here up to 3 weeks free of charge if needed while you arrange shipping. We sell worldwide, and welcome all International bidders in good standing with eBay."

Good luck to all bidders on this beauty!

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.

This Or That: 1980 Oldsmobile 442 vs. 1989 BMW 635CSi [w/poll]

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

The last time I roped a coworker into an automotive debate, I lost. Resoundingly, I might add. Still, 2,385 voters chose to cast their lots for the Fiat 500 Abarth, as opposed to 5,273 choosing the Ford Fiesta ST, and so I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least 30 percent of you, dear readers, see things my way. I still like to think we have more fun, too.
My loss in the first round of our This or That series, in which two Autoblog editors pick sides on any given topic and then attempt to explain why the other is completely wrong, didn't stop me from picking another good-natured fight, this time with Senior Editor Seyth Miersma. Last time, our chosen sides were eerily similar in design, albeit quite different in actual execution. This time, our vehicular peculiarities couldn't seemingly fall any further from one another: A 1980 Oldsmobile 442 wouldn't seem to match up in comparison to a 1989 BMW 635CSi.
How did we come up with such disparate contenders? Simple, really. Seyth and I mutually agreed to choose a car that's currently for sale online. It had to be built and sold in the 1980s, and it had to be a coupe. The price cap was set at $10,000. The fruits of our searching labors will henceforth be disputed, with Seyth on the side of the Germans, and myself arguing in favor of the Rocket Olds. Am I setting myself up for another lopsided loss?
