This is a very nice 30 year old classic. I bought it less than a month ago and had it shipped from Lancaster County Pennsylvania to Philadelphia Pennsylvania. As soon as I got to see it, I bought it. Then, after I paid for it and before it shipped to me, I tried to tell the seller I had chnged my mind. It was too late, as he had already cashed my check. I didn't have buyers remorse; it's a really, really nice original car. Runs fantastic, has a rust-free, straight as an arrow body. Interior is excellent. No, I tried to stop it because when I figured the specs of the cars body, I realized it was gonna be too big for my garage. And it is! It fits, but I have to contort myself around the car to move in my garage. It's too bad!! It's a really clean classic. I've had it a couple weeks and it's just too big. Anyway, it runs beautifully, has had 4 new Cooper whitewalls, new tune up, EGR valve, carb cleaning and adjustment in less than the last 2000 miles. Starts with the touch of the key. Has ice cold a/c. Interior has immaculate seats. Carpets and GM floormats are very nice. Headliner has no sag. Top of the dash has a couple small cracks, but I'm going to include a reproduction dashcap that I bought when I shipped the car down. You will notice it in the pics. I ordered it in the wrong color but I tracked down the coating they use and will send the correct color so the new owner can spray the dash cap the proper color. I will send the adhesive and instructions along with the dashcap. The front of the dash is nice. The radio is the originall am/fm and sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. The new owner will have to take it out and check all the connections. All glass is really nice and it has wind up windows, not power! Door panels are very nice as well including no splits on the armrests. The body is great. It has no rust and I don't even think you could find a ding that you could notice. The paint is the original single stage paint from the factory. It has some chips and scratches as you might imagine but you have to be on top of the car to see them. I have started rubbing out the paint and it has a nice shine to it. The bumpers are nice. I have been polishing them with Maas metal polish and they sparkle. The rear bumper has a couple arears where the top layer has come off but I have included a picture and I don't think you will be able to see it. They shine up really nicely. It has the locking Oldsmobile wire wheel covers. They are in teriffic condition. I will also include a set of late 70's dish style Oldsmobile covers that are practically brand new! I even got it approved for classic insurance at 152.00 a year for 4500 miles usage. The only thing you will probably want to do is have a new vinyl top put on. This one is the original and the center seam has split. I am sure you could use contact cement to close it but a new top would make this car nice. I had planned to have one put on and if it doesn't sell, I will do that. You could put the car in a car show and it would not be out of place. I have been to many shows that had old cars that were not a snice as this. Anyway, I am taking a small loss on the price but I have included a pic to show you the car in my garage. It just doesn't fit so I can work around it. It was my own fault; the car was too nice to pass up. Email any questions. Thanks!! Just a couple more things before I end this. It has a 307 motor with a 4 barrel carb. I believe it's a 3speed automatic. The PA inspection runs out at the end of August but it has been driven less than 2000 miles since its last inspection. I believe you could drive this car home with no problems. It was well taken care of and is very nice and clean. Oh, the steering wheel does have a couple cracks in the hard wheel itself. If you need to see it, I'll email you a pic. p.s. By the way- I have a couple pics taken at the guys house where I bought it and a couple at my house. The ones taken at his house show pinstriping on the body. I removed it when I got it here. The pinstriping was coming off in places and it looks cleaner without it. No confusion, it's the same car! p.s.s. I had a question about the bumper fillers- all are in excellent condition! p.s.s.s.- just to tell everyone- if you look at the pic of the dash w/ the radio- just under the radio is a little chip out of the dash. Also, I have had a question about the engine and under carriage- I will take pics tomorrow afternoon of both. The underside will be tricky but I can tell you it's solid as a rock! I would not have bought a rusty car.

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6
Wed, 11 Dec 2013Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.
GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant
Wed, 18 Jun 2014If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.
