We have a 1956 Oldsmobile Super 88.This car belonged to my late father. He took well care of this car.We had it running about 6 months ago and ran great.I had the carb. rebuilt and had to drain all the gas out of it as it was in there for a while. We have had it covered since dad passed in 2009.When we went to start again wouldnt start. It cranks fine but not getting gas.I bought a new fuel pump on ebay and again Started right up and drove fine.Next day would not start again. We were going to put a electric fuel pump in it.But we just dont have room for the car anymore. My son detailed the outside of car and still has a great shine. There are a few scratches here and there but nothing major. The front passenger window is cracked but does not leak.My mom closed the door which is very heavy and window was down and it cracked. There a tear in the front seat but it is not bad.The back seat is perfect.I know my father had transmission rebuilt before he passed. He drove this car weekly and was his pride and joy.We hate to get rid of it but 5 cars is just too much to just let this car sit.I do not believe there are any major problems with this car other then the fuel getting to carb. The chrome is in good shape with maybe tiny pitting spots. But nothing major.I'm going to put a few pictures up now and will put more up when i can take pictures in the daylight. If there is any questions please feel free to ask.Buyer will need to make a 500.00 Deposit at end of auction.Buyer must arrange for own shipping. The title is clear and in hand.If car purchased in Florida it has a legal !956 Florida plate on it i can check to see if i can transfer to buyer. The trunk is full of extra parts like brake pads filters gaskets there are repair manuals and some other things but the trunk is full of stuff for the car.Thank you for looking.Good luck.Feel free to make a fair and reasonable offer as we dont need to sell but we are not going to give it away.Thank you

Hi everyone I have gotten a few offers on this car with people thinking this is a project car. This is only a project car if you want to put it in the Barrett Jackson auction. The things wrong with i have priced at 500.00 or a little more.I think the problem with the starting could be as little as a screw turn on the carb.I spent 300.00 rebuilding carb. and car ran fine till fuel pump problem. Now I'm no mechanic and i installed it myself.I didn't adjust anything just installed it.The window i found a guy on google that could make window for 200.00.Now i bought the fuel on Ebay i think for under 100.00.I was going to put a electric one in.They are like 100.00 as well.now the seat can be fixed at best 200.00.And needs a battery. So you take 100.00 for the fuel pump 200.00 for the window 200.00 for the seat and 100.00 for a battery.Thats 600.00 to have a 1956 you can drive everyday if you choose.I feel our price is more then fair. There is not a dent in the body of this car.So feel free to send offers we will consider all.But not as a project car as this is not what this car is.Thank You

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
