No Rust Posi 307 V8 Cloth Bucket Seats Console Shifter Factory Tach Arizona Car on 2040-cars
Royal Oak, Michigan, United States
Great G-Body I am selling. I cannot find the time to enjoy it and make it how I envisioned it. Listing ends Saturday morning dont miss it....and Please read the entire listing...its everything I know about it.
I was told it was original 40k miles and it was stored since 1991. I think it might be 140k miles from the dust on it. I honestly did not care if it was 40 or 140 as clean and original as it is - thats what i wanted. The interior is in nearly perfect shape and everything is original. No rust - its all original paint except for the gold strips I just did as I had plans to paint it deep midnight blue metal flake with the gold stripes to match the Gold accent wheels and I wanted to make sure i had did the stripes the correct width so it looked right. Its not supposed to be a good job or anything - i just kinda misted it on. oddly people have told me they like the stripes and thought they were on it all along. I bought it in Arizona last summer and drove it back. Before leaving Arizona it got a new gas tank and fuel pump and fuel filter. the coolant was flushed. New battery and starter and alternator. It had Koni Shocks installed. Starts Runs and stops straight. Has no problem spinning the wheels with the posi rear axle. I stored t all winter. It does not leak any fluids. Only faults are the faded paint, i have lost the door key and had to remove the trunk lock to open it - must use a screw driver to open the trunk unfortunatly. not a hard repair. i remove the door ding strips. the a/c does not work. The headliner is coming down is a couple spots. Right now I have two sets of wheels I was considering for it - seen in the pictures. The first is the original factory 442 wheels that have been custom refinished wth black with hurst olds gold metal flake powdercoat, machined on a cnc machined and powdercoated clear over the machined surfaces and bfg radials with a few miles on them. the other wheels i was considering are 1977 Kelsey Hayes turbines that were also restored with black powdercoat and then done in gold satin machine finish and new bfg t/a radials. I will sell either set of wheels/tires with the car for an additonal $1500 on top of the auction end price if you like either set. I wanted to build a 70s street machine out of it that had a kind of hurst olds tribute look to it. Otherwise the car will come with a set of plain stock steel gm wheels and newer tires with good tread. I will post pics of these soon. Please this is a NO RESERVE auction I am paying for, please do not bid if you do not have the funds to buy it within 7 days of auction end. And please I really only want cash payment at pick up. But I understand that you might not be close enough to pick it up so please Contact me if you want to buy it and ship it before bidding. Feel free to come and see the car before bidding. I am in Royal Oak, 4521 Delemere Blvd. Please contact me for an appointment. Thanks for checking out my olds. Please ask me any questions. On Jun-07-14 at 10:23:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry i think i am wrong, the car fax says it is a 5.0L. I thought that was a 307 in and oldsmobile. I am told it is a 305 by another ebayer? Feel free to let me know - not out to mislead anyone. Regardless it is stock/original to my knowledge. On Jun-07-14 at 16:42:21 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry...a paypal deposit IS NOT required. I did not mean to put that in. Cash at pick up is fine. If your don't want a bad deal...just a good home for it. If you were not happy with it for some reason I would not want any bad feeling and wouldn't hold anyone to it. I'm pretty confident I described it accurately and I think the next owner will appreciate it. |

This Or That: 1980 Oldsmobile 442 vs. 1989 BMW 635CSi [w/poll]
Thu, 09 Oct 2014The last time I roped a coworker into an automotive debate, I lost. Resoundingly, I might add. Still, 2,385 voters chose to cast their lots for the Fiat 500 Abarth, as opposed to 5,273 choosing the Ford Fiesta ST, and so I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least 30 percent of you, dear readers, see things my way. I still like to think we have more fun, too.
My loss in the first round of our This or That series, in which two Autoblog editors pick sides on any given topic and then attempt to explain why the other is completely wrong, didn't stop me from picking another good-natured fight, this time with Senior Editor Seyth Miersma. Last time, our chosen sides were eerily similar in design, albeit quite different in actual execution. This time, our vehicular peculiarities couldn't seemingly fall any further from one another: A 1980 Oldsmobile 442 wouldn't seem to match up in comparison to a 1989 BMW 635CSi.
How did we come up with such disparate contenders? Simple, really. Seyth and I mutually agreed to choose a car that's currently for sale online. It had to be built and sold in the 1980s, and it had to be a coupe. The price cap was set at $10,000. The fruits of our searching labors will henceforth be disputed, with Seyth on the side of the Germans, and myself arguing in favor of the Rocket Olds. Am I setting myself up for another lopsided loss?
GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison
Thu, 13 Nov 2014The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.
