69 Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible Automatic on 2040-cars

Year:1969 Mileage:85000
Location:

Peoria, Illinois, United States

Peoria, Illinois, United States

1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertible in great restorable condition. This car is a perfect candidate for restoration because of the low miles and condition of the frame, chassis components, and most of the body is intact and very repairable. The body is a bit rough but the frame and chassis components or the main car itself is in really good overall condition.  Some of the bad points are as follows. This car needs body work including rear quarter bottoms, back of the front fenders only on the bottom. There is various dents on the body but are definitely repairable. One dent on the back of the trunk area needs attention. It might need work on the bumpers or possibly new ones. Some of the chrome trim pieces are dented and it is missing a small one on the front of the nose and the front right wheel. There is one rusted through spot on one floorboard that needs fixing. The trunk has a larger dent that looks repairable and one larger spot on the front right fender. The interior is in poor condition and the shift linkage from the column lever needs fixing. One of the rear triangle windows is off track and will not roll up but the glass is in there. This car has not been ran in a couple years but was supposedly running and driving well when it was running. I am going to try and get it fired up and running to show on a video. The brakes might need some attention or I will bleed them and check for leaks. The convertible top needs replacing. The latch on the trunk needs adjusting or trunk lid needs to be adjusted because it will not close right now. One fender skirt is off and needs to be put back on. The rear bumper is not fully bolted on. It looks like someone was doing a bit of work on this car.  Some of the good things about this car are the fact that besides the body work and paint it is a bunch of small jobs that will bring this car back to being a real beauty. The frame looks really solid with just surface rust. Most of the body is solid along with most floors and door jambs. The motor and drivetrain are all intact and probably original but I have not confirmed that. I can get the numbers if you want to run them. the convertible top frame looks and works good and even has a automatic hydrolic opener installed but needs fluid or work I think. It has around 85,000 miles. I'm not sure if that is accurate but according the the way the chassis and body looks it looks about right. The rubber body mounts look really good. It has the bucket seats in front and will be great when reupholstered. The car has the 350 rocket motor with an automatic transmission for that comfortable cruising that this car was meant to do. This will be a beautiful car with a quality restoration or just a partial restoration and a paint job. I think the motor and tranny work well but have not confirmed yet. This car was garaged regularly since 1989.

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
