1987 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS SALON 307 V8 ONLY 54,387 ORIGINAL MILES! T-TOPS! POWER DRIVERS SEAT! AIR! GORGEOUS SILVER OVER BLACK TWO TONE!
Stunning isn't she!! Oh just wait till you see the rest of her. A rare find. ONLY 54,387 ORIGINAL MILES! Yes that's original miles on the reliable factory installed 307 V8 engine. Automatic transmission with overdrive. Glass tinted T-Tops!! The classic two tone paint of the 70's and 80's shows up well here in the classic silver and black. It just screams look at me!! The original owner special ordered this car. Is was not dealer stock. The current and only second owner has all the original paperwork for that order. Today 27 years later this Cutlass Salon looks nearly almost as stunning. The original interior is in outstanding condition. All power components work except for cruise control. The carpet shows little wear other than some discoloration. No holes or tears. Seats are amazing. No rips tears or holes. The plush gray color interior compliments the black & silver exterior well. No dashboard cracks. The working cassette player comes with the storage unit in the console to hold all of your music on classic cassette tapes (remember those?). The glass tinted T-Tops are in great shape. No scratches. There is a small area on the plastic inside the drivers side top that is cracked (pictured). However it doesn't hinder their use. They come with a locking latch and slip covers. They do not leak however the original weather stripping is ready to be replaced. This car was well equipped when ordered. 6 way power drivers seat. Power door locks, power tinted windows, rear defrost (bezel surrounding switch is cracked). Also ordered with car was floor mats, side molding, door edge molding, A/C (blows cold), Tilt steering wheel, power antenna and stereo system. The only interior issue to note other than what has already been mentioned is a couple of plastic tabs in the dashboard vents have broken off. It's just a beautiful well kept and clean Cutlass Salon. No mechanical issues discovered. No smoke noises or odors. Starts right up and the 307 V8 sounds great. Automatic transmission shifts very well. Battery fairly new. Brakes on a dime. Tires have good tread. The car comes with the upgraded aluminum rims (fair condition). The car appears to of had some paint work in it's life at some point. The owner states no accidents and any paint work was done by it's previous owner was for cosmetic reasons only. It was rust proofed at the time of purchase in 1987. The body is in overall great condition. It's not show car ready but if you were looking for a nice car with minimal work to have one, this one has all the potential. Some issues to disclose but do not hinder it's beauty or value are some minor rust areas & paint issues. The rust that I've found is located in the trunk drivers side floor. I've shown pictures from top and bottom of this area. The rest of the trunk floor is rust free. The other area I've found to have had rust, is on the bottoms of the doors. It appears to have had a repair attempt. I've disclosed pictures of those areas as well. There is some minor paint bubbling seen on the passenger side rear quarter panel near bumper. This is also pictured and I've zoomed in for detail otherwise it would be very hard to see. I also took some under carriage shots to show underside condition. Appears to only be surface rust. Amazing for a 27 year old car! The original owner did add on an aftermarket Viper alarm. It was professionally installed. Current owner replaced the hood insulation. The current owner inherited this beauty and has only driven it about 200 miles since owning. A growing family and a busy life has made the decision for him that he needs to part ways. He has the clean title, original bill of sale, original order form along with a folder filled with extensive documents, of maintenance records and the original owners manual including the pen and note pad from 1987!! To say this car was treated like family would be an understatement! The last time I roped a coworker into an automotive debate, I lost. Resoundingly, I might add. Still, 2,385 voters chose to cast their lots for the Fiat 500 Abarth, as opposed to 5,273 choosing the Ford Fiesta ST, and so I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least 30 percent of you, dear readers, see things my way. I still like to think we have more fun, too. My loss in the first round of our This or That series, in which two Autoblog editors pick sides on any given topic and then attempt to explain why the other is completely wrong, didn't stop me from picking another good-natured fight, this time with Senior Editor Seyth Miersma. Last time, our chosen sides were eerily similar in design, albeit quite different in actual execution. This time, our vehicular peculiarities couldn't seemingly fall any further from one another: A 1980 Oldsmobile 442 wouldn't seem to match up in comparison to a 1989 BMW 635CSi. How did we come up with such disparate contenders? Simple, really. Seyth and I mutually agreed to choose a car that's currently for sale online. It had to be built and sold in the 1980s, and it had to be a coupe. The price cap was set at $10,000. The fruits of our searching labors will henceforth be disputed, with Seyth on the side of the Germans, and myself arguing in favor of the Rocket Olds. Am I setting myself up for another lopsided loss?

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco. For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down: 7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense. The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride. The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.
