1980 Olds Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham One Owner Original! on 2040-cars

Year:1980 Mileage:109689
Location:

Congers, New York, United States

Congers, New York, United States

Thanks for viewing my listing.  This vehicle is being offered for your consideration.  It is a ONE OWNER 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham model. They simply are just not found in this condition anymore!!! The car was owned by the same own lady who recently turned 90 and stopped driving.  It was acquired by an ESTATE SALE. Paperwork is clean and is the original 1980 NEW YORK tittle. The car speaks for itself, the mileage is actual at 109,689.  DO NOT EXPECT a perfect mint car because the reserve IS NOT for a mint car. The market value on this same car being day one perfect can be $10-15k depending the actual car.

This is a 1980 that shares the same body style as the 78 79 expect has unique one year 4 headlights to offset it and make it stand out.  The car has been garage kept since day one.  The vinyl top is flawless and there are no signs of rot anywhere to be found along the roof as many do have. The interior as shown in the photos is near DAY ONE.  NO RIPS or wear at all! The floormats are original GM showing the logo, steering wheel is a GEM and brake pad pedal is mint.  That tells the whole story that car was never abused and babied.

The floors and trunk floor are also day one perfect.  The "brightwork" or "chrome" shows the car was kept indoors.  Most of these cars the rear bumpers are falling off.  The chrome is clean and bright as well as the grilles/headlight bezels.  These are all hard to find parts that are not reproudced.

Original AM/FM working radio.  Dashboard was never hacked or modified.  Also not even as much a crack or blemish in the dashboard.  Car has optional dash package with real gauges verses "idiot lights". Factory A/C car and yes the A/C system is complete and works HOWEVER could use a charge to be 100%. Car also loaded with 60/40 interior delux material seats.  The doorpanel, handles and "brightwork" in amazing condition.

Engine is 3.8 V6, 1980 being the very last year of full mechanical cars.  The olds Cutlass in 1981 was the beginning of the "smog era" computer controled hybrid cars that were famous for check engine lights and many off the wall issues that went with OBD1. Engine runs amazing

The transmission is TURBO three fifty   Shifts nice and strong. 3 speed automatic.

Clearly seen in photos the car has all original laqour paint. There are some dents on the doors as well as some rot on the bottoms which is typical of these cars.  NOTHING TO BE SCARED of.  Nothing a welder and a good body man can't fix.  No need to throw the door away.  Just need repairs. Car has manual windows, no headaches, no drama. Doors open and close as if they are day one.  Car has factory optional maplight in interior as well.

Only known mehanical issue is that fuel gauge DOES NOT read correctly.  This is an easy fix with a new sending unit or perhaps as simple as checking the ground.  (I didn't look into it).

There is a reserve on this car, it will not be disclosed! Vehicle goes to the highest bidder who is over the reserve.  I also reserve the right to pull this listing at any given time due to local sale. The car is well worth the money. It runs/drives excellent and  has no warrenty of any kind.  IT is an unrestored original 34 year old car.  What you see is what it is. It's being offered below it's actual retail value to make a quick sale.  Bid is contract. DO NOT BID if you DO NOT have the funds to pay. I will only accept a PAY PAY deposit of $500.00 within 48 hours of auctions end.  The rest in a bank check/cash or direct deposit.  I've been around own other cars.  I simply DO NOT have enough lifetimes for all of them.  There is no house on fire to sell this car, if nobody can come to the plate with the money I want then it's no longer for sale.  Being offered now and I'm on the fence with even parting with it........soooooooooooo now is the time. Show me the money!!!

Buyer responsible for all fees to remove from my home in NY state.  I have a friend who is a local guy who can tow it up to 300 miles.  Obviously I don't know how much he will charge but I can tell you he will be fair.  That part is not my issue.  It's between you and him or find a hauler.  Car must be removed from me NO MORE than 30 days after sale is made.  At that point in time title will be sent overnight mail.  Car must be paid for in full no more than 7 days after auction.  THERE is no "buy it now" due to scammers and out of country fools who have nothing better to do.  I wish to sell this car in the USA 48 hassle free  If you are from Sweeden, Mexico, Canada that's great..... I'll take your money but you are making all arrangments to figure out the cost to have it picked up and shipped wherever it is you live.

DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS COLLECTOR CAR.  NONE LISTED AT THIS TIME TO EVEN COMPARE TO THIS.  WILL NOT BE UNDERSOLD based on actual condition of vehicle and nature of what it is! Best of luck!

This Or That: 1980 Oldsmobile 442 vs. 1989 BMW 635CSi [w/poll]

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

The last time I roped a coworker into an automotive debate, I lost. Resoundingly, I might add. Still, 2,385 voters chose to cast their lots for the Fiat 500 Abarth, as opposed to 5,273 choosing the Ford Fiesta ST, and so I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least 30 percent of you, dear readers, see things my way. I still like to think we have more fun, too.
My loss in the first round of our This or That series, in which two Autoblog editors pick sides on any given topic and then attempt to explain why the other is completely wrong, didn't stop me from picking another good-natured fight, this time with Senior Editor Seyth Miersma. Last time, our chosen sides were eerily similar in design, albeit quite different in actual execution. This time, our vehicular peculiarities couldn't seemingly fall any further from one another: A 1980 Oldsmobile 442 wouldn't seem to match up in comparison to a 1989 BMW 635CSi.
How did we come up with such disparate contenders? Simple, really. Seyth and I mutually agreed to choose a car that's currently for sale online. It had to be built and sold in the 1980s, and it had to be a coupe. The price cap was set at $10,000. The fruits of our searching labors will henceforth be disputed, with Seyth on the side of the Germans, and myself arguing in favor of the Rocket Olds. Am I setting myself up for another lopsided loss?

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.
