I have been a car enthusiast for 22 years (since I turned 15) I have owned over 70 different cars and trucks and only a handful have I kept for more then a few months, as I loose interest very quickly. With that being said, I have owned this car for almost 8 years now.... ITS A BLAST! As an enthusiast I constantly search for cars to add to my collection, I see the words "survivor" "original" "barn find" "meticulous" "unmolested" "project" "restored" "documented" and worst of all "RARE" !!!!! the truth about my Olds is that I did buy it all original from a woman (original owner) who had it in her barn. It is a TRUE "survivor" because it has never been touched up, no body work, no welds, no bondo, no repaint, no nothing! It is/was "original' because everything on the car is original, the few items that are not original I have including the air cleaner, spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc. and there are only a handful of items that are no longer with the car that it had when it rolled off the lot with in '79. (tires, battery, brakes, exhaust, gas, oil, etc). "meticulous, restored and/or project" those are really up to YOU as the buyer, what do you want to do with it? Cruise on a Saturday night to a local Ice cream shop? (its good to go). If you want to trailer it to shows and be judged for a chance to win a trophy (you have your hands full). that leaves us with "RARE" again I will let you decide.... but I will give a little insight. in 1979 Oldsmobile made 2499 W30 Hurst/Olds, approx 1/2 black and the rest white, there were less then 600 with T-tops, and from what I have been able to find my car is 1 of 262 in black with factory T-tops..... now add in that it has all options, full documentation including the payment book and service records, the window sticker, and a super strange Power antenna in the rear quarter panel, this car is 1 of ?????
GOOD: 2 owner, "Rocket 350" engine, A/T, garage kept, "survivor" runs, drives, stops, everything (except A/C) works, all original, documented mileage, original window sticker, Power windows, Power locks, Tilt, AM/FM with built in CB and 8track, Hurst dual gate shifter, appraised at $12,000 at 60,772... now has 60,876! (reserve is lower then that... MUCH LOWER!) Very hard to find and rare (300+/- made) with factory T-tops, 2499 Hurst/Olds total in '79 half white half black. This car is very complete, and FULLY loaded for a 79. I even have the dealer equipment T-Top storage bag. If your a PA buyer it is already registered an Antique and the plates can transfer to the new owner.
BAD: This car is a "survivor" that means unrestored, it is "original" which means the paint is 34 years old... the gold is dull, interior is faded, it has flaws, nicks, dings, and 1 dent (a tree fell on it about 20 years ago and left a small baseball size dent on the 1/4 panel) and 1 dent in the rear bumper, the chrome is aged, the dash has a crack, the trans leaks (not bad but I want to note everything), etc. OVERALL The car is extremely presentable but I wouldnt call it a show car by cosmetics only by rarity. It needs some TLC for fun cruising, and a full restoration to take home any trophies at a show. it is a 10 footer!

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant
Wed, 18 Jun 2014If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.
Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison
Thu, 13 Nov 2014The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.
Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6
Wed, 11 Dec 2013Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
