Do you want a luxury diamond white pearl GM that has no recalls? And never had any? That remains timeless in concept car styling? That a younger generation is now desiring? That offers an Eldorado chassis with Corvette-bred suspension? Then read on...

Did you know that this vehicle features an OBD without having to plug in a scanner? Ya, touch-screen technology along with a matching digital dash, factory CD player, factory in car phone, astro-roof, factory DRL's (daytime running lights) and self-leveling suspension. Oh, did I mention this is for the year 1991???   A time when GM built "real" cars.

NOW GET A LOAD OF THE SPECIAL DETAILS:

Never been outside of Canada since new. A True Canadian spec model with dual system instrumentation (metric & imperial at the touch of a button) and factory DRL's for use in all countries. Factory DRL's in 1991?

Best Possible Buying Scenario:

1. One owner
2. Low mileage
3. No Recalls
4. Seasonal use
5. Collector car status.

This car is like NEW in how every inside and outside detail has either been refurbished or replaced. From bumper-to-bumper, sunroof-to-undercarriage. It took five years to perfect it to new car standards. Every inch is like it was when new. I personally purchased a myriad of new parts from GM 14 years ago before they decided to make the Oldsmobile line obsolete. That way, I had the most critical parts necessary for that day I would need them. And if they were not available, then I had them fabricated, a one-of-one just to make it right.

As one potential buyer said and I quote him, "This is a beautiful car and it's obvious that you are the right person to buy a car from. It's clear you have an exceptional level of pride and it is reflected in this vehicle right down to the new knob fittings!"

In addition, all electronics and electricals have been replaced on this TROF?O. That's right, NEW. Nothing to fail for years to come. I still have many other parts which can be made available to the new buyer for safe keeping. Most pre-owned cars of this age are high-mileage multi-owner cars. Unfortunately, many of what's left on the road of this limited production model in North America are high mileage and worn out. Even if the mileage is low, you will be hard-pressed to find one as perfect as this one.

Best Benefits:

1. Canadian car
2. Not imported
3. Serviced locally
4. Complete records
5. Accident-free
6. Smoke-free.

Mileage indicates this TROF?O was driven equivalent of 4 years. In reality, it shows like it has not been driven at all. Reason? Once I did all the work on the car to perfect it I just parked it to keep it in its current NEW-like condition. After all, that is how collectors like them to be when they make that special purchase. Like no stone chips and blemishes. Not inside; not outside.

Catch all the details and the gazillion close-up HI-RES photos by requesting the website IF you are more than just a curious seeker. I took 40 hours just to prepare the photo shoots, storyboard and then organize it all. Why talk. That alone will show you how particular I am and how near perfect this car is. I provide a thorough history write-up on the creation of this model and highlight the NEW technology that was introduced in this model era.

This TROF?O has been driven only seasonally and is therefore a uniquely clean and low mileage one owner gem. Parked in a heated enclosed garage YEAR-ROUND, it is kept out of the extreme environmental elements of both heat and cold, rain and snow.

Do you like Jewels? Well, the Diamond White Pearl tri-stage factory paint glistens in the sun like a real gem. Therefore, this is your opportunity to own something EXCLUSIVE for your collection or as a daily commuter. Be the envy of those who will look and wonder if that is perhaps a concept car you bought. They will have no way of knowing unless you tell them. Your very own trophy, or TROF?O, as the Italians like to say.

As for precious gems, a DIAMOND is not only a girls best friend.

It also comes on four wheels and is available to everyone.

IMPORTATION: This is not a business so I am not always here to answer questions immediately. If you ask a question near the end of the auction I may not be able to respond in time so ask earlier. If you want to import the car, call a broker. They will do it all for you. The car does meet EPA and DOT specs and was built in the USA so it easily qualifies for import. To simplify the process, fly here and drive it home. What a reward TOURING this dream ride home. If you want to read the lengthy Customs & Border Protection page on vehicle importation go here:

http://www.cbp.gov/trade/basic-import-export/importing-car

Although I've never found it that difficult to complete myself, for many hiring someone else to do it for them is just that much easier.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE: I am a private collector of unique and exclusive items. Therefore, this is not some car lot or dealer inventory. I know this car first hand: the past, the present, the work done, the service performed, all of it. Do I expect it to sell on eBay? Probably not. Most vehicles listed never do. It's more about exposure and what that can lead to. Even so, any serious questions I will answer with courtesy and respect regardless of the attitude or intent. Please be courteous. I genuinely offer the same in return. Above all, please pursue this gem only if you are really in love with this model of Toronado as I am. Thank you for the opportunity to personally serve you.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.

This Or That: 1980 Oldsmobile 442 vs. 1989 BMW 635CSi [w/poll]

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

The last time I roped a coworker into an automotive debate, I lost. Resoundingly, I might add. Still, 2,385 voters chose to cast their lots for the Fiat 500 Abarth, as opposed to 5,273 choosing the Ford Fiesta ST, and so I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least 30 percent of you, dear readers, see things my way. I still like to think we have more fun, too.
My loss in the first round of our This or That series, in which two Autoblog editors pick sides on any given topic and then attempt to explain why the other is completely wrong, didn't stop me from picking another good-natured fight, this time with Senior Editor Seyth Miersma. Last time, our chosen sides were eerily similar in design, albeit quite different in actual execution. This time, our vehicular peculiarities couldn't seemingly fall any further from one another: A 1980 Oldsmobile 442 wouldn't seem to match up in comparison to a 1989 BMW 635CSi.
How did we come up with such disparate contenders? Simple, really. Seyth and I mutually agreed to choose a car that's currently for sale online. It had to be built and sold in the 1980s, and it had to be a coupe. The price cap was set at $10,000. The fruits of our searching labors will henceforth be disputed, with Seyth on the side of the Germans, and myself arguing in favor of the Rocket Olds. Am I setting myself up for another lopsided loss?
