GM's ultimate in Sport/Luxury really means business. These were the go getter business man's coupe.. when you wanted luxury, but that sport flare. These cars delivered. With their 3800 V6 engine and corvette ancestry in it's suspension design, these babies would handle extremely well. (quite possibly the ONLY car chase I have ever seen on "Wildest Police Chases" where the cops just could not catch the guys, involved one of these Trofeos. lol.. ) These cars were designed for the DRIVER.. Quite possibly one of the most comfortable cars I've ever driven thanks to the 8 way power seats (yes, BOTH seats function the same) and dual power lumbar supports. I drove one of these cars to California and never had an ounce of leg or back pain. They are so quiet inside and aerodynamic that at 70mph, you can have a WHISPER conversation with someone in the back seat. Just a fantastic, solidly built automobile.
Here's your shot at owning a piece of Oldsmobile history. Their last ditch effort to keep the Toronado name alive, and you can tell in these cars, they spared no expense. This car was just too far ahead of it's time. To buy a car of this caliber today, You have to go with a Cadillac CTS-V or an Audi A-8. As can be seen in the vehicle history report, Since 2005, this car has only racked up a little over 3000 miles. It was well cared for all it's life. The last few years, this car has been in a dry storage unit and taken out a couple weekends during the summer months. This car is currently getting ready for its new owner. Everything is functional on this vehicle except driver's door speaker has a small crackle to it. Currently car is at shop getting final assembly. The tan leather is in decent shape with no rips. only wear marks on driver's side seat left side of bolstering. Wheels getting refinished with new hubcaps as well. Loooong list of NEW parts. as many AC/Delco parts were ordered as I could find.
New Monroe struts
all new rubber brake hoses (AC/Delco)
all new parking brake cable to the pedal(AC\Delco)
All new brake rotors and pads
Remanufactured front calipers
All new anti-corrosion brake lines from anti-lock system to front and rear brakes
All new exhaust system from engine to tail pipe tips
new fuel filler pipe
New AC/Delco Battery
New power steering pressure line (AC/Delco)
New front ball joints and tie-rod ends
recent starter motor
Lots of various hardware, brake hose clips, bushings, etc.
NADA classic car guide lists this vehicle at a high retail of over $8000 and private sale value of $5700. Kelly Blue Book does not have a classic car value system. This car is getting VERY rare. there were only 5000 Toronado's produced in 1992. There's no actual record of the number which were Trofeo's. These cars are akin on stature to the Buick Reatta and the Cadillac Allante and have also been classified in with the infamous DeLorean.
Owner's Manual is in glove box in original pouch. Book itself is not perfect and lots of notes inside as well as service records listed from 1993 to 1999.
The car will not be ready for immediate pick up. Parts had taken a little longer to ship.
****** Yes, the headlight motor works great. No squeaks.
No VIC display
No Moonroof
There is very minor rust on this vehicle. Very easy repairs. May possibly be repaired prior to pickup.
Some info I found for the collector. Here is a list of all the RPO codes this car is equipped with from the factory and the final column has the number of vehicles built with that same RPO and model. Seems as though though the interior color is in fact a rare combination. This car is also one of the LAST cars built. The paint code is not a 1992 version of the Diamond White. It is WA9097 or U9097/L9097 which was a 1993 paint code. As you all know, 92 production started in march 1991. The build date explains why this would have a 1993 paint code. THis car is also #498 fromt he end of production which puts it in the final 500 catagory.

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

The last time I roped a coworker into an automotive debate, I lost. Resoundingly, I might add. Still, 2,385 voters chose to cast their lots for the Fiat 500 Abarth, as opposed to 5,273 choosing the Ford Fiesta ST, and so I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least 30 percent of you, dear readers, see things my way. I still like to think we have more fun, too.
My loss in the first round of our This or That series, in which two Autoblog editors pick sides on any given topic and then attempt to explain why the other is completely wrong, didn't stop me from picking another good-natured fight, this time with Senior Editor Seyth Miersma. Last time, our chosen sides were eerily similar in design, albeit quite different in actual execution. This time, our vehicular peculiarities couldn't seemingly fall any further from one another: A 1980 Oldsmobile 442 wouldn't seem to match up in comparison to a 1989 BMW 635CSi.
How did we come up with such disparate contenders? Simple, really. Seyth and I mutually agreed to choose a car that's currently for sale online. It had to be built and sold in the 1980s, and it had to be a coupe. The price cap was set at $10,000. The fruits of our searching labors will henceforth be disputed, with Seyth on the side of the Germans, and myself arguing in favor of the Rocket Olds. Am I setting myself up for another lopsided loss?

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.
