Selling one of the most desirable and rare muscle cars WITH PAPERWORK AND ORIGINAL NUMBERS MATCHING ENGINE.

1970 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible which is 1 of 2933 produced that year.

I am an NJ independent dealer and found out about the car which was located in the neighboring town through word of mouth. I bought the car from the previous owner who has owned it 12 years and during that time stored it in his garage. He used it occasionally and put about 2000 miles on it total. The car runs and drives excellent and was very reliable for him. Since i look for older hard to find cars every day, i know how hard it is to find an affordable 442 worth buying with SOLID FLOORS, TRUNK, AND FRAME. In addition to that, good luck finding cars with any paperwork and the original numbers matching engine. This car has it.....

Original Build Sheet, Original Protecto Plate with bag, Warranty booklet, Owners manual, Oldsmobile dealer pre-delivery check sheet, and consumer information guide. Also has some original Olds brochures.

Engine code on block below intake is 396021F. Machined surface below drivers cylinder head reads 30L186258. Trans driver side stamping is 30E185258. I believe the transmission to be original to the car due to L, E, And BL being used for Linden assembly plant and human error of 1 digit is very possible for these era cars. Rear i have not found yet. (surface rust. very faint stampings can be hard to find)

The upside potential of 442 convertibles is proven, recently these cars restored have sold for $80,000 to over $100,000 at Barret Jackson and Mecum....and W30 442 convertibles selling for $100,000 - $300,000.

This car at one time had body and paint work done but now shows bubbling in the lower fenders, corners of the passenger door, and in some spots on the rear quarters. However nothing appears to be cut on this car, looks to have original quarters, fenders, and doors. There is some minor rusting in the trunk but has alot of meat there. The battery tray is very nice. Frame is perfect......

It will need body and paint to be done, some chrome work. minor interior details. But mechanically it runs and drives great and does not need to be addressed unless you prefer to go that far. The convertible top is 5 years old and has barely seen any weather. The top goes up and down like normal. Power drivers seats works. Clock works. Dash is not cracked. Engine is very clean (see work below).... If your looking for an affordable 442 investment that does not need a nut and bolt restoration..... this car is a no brainer!!

Original build sheet shows the car was assembled at the Linden NJ plant. Original selling dealer was Shaull Oldsmobile Inc in York PA and originally sold to Quaker city paper and chem co. on N Sherman St in York PA. According to the '2' Prefix on the NJ Title. There has been 3 owners total in NJ plus the PA original owner. So 4 owners total.
Some options off build sheet include: C60 Air cond. A01 Tint glass. A46 4-way power bkt. A51 Strato bkt seat. BC1 Wood inst pnl. G91 Perf 3.23 Axl. JL2 Power disc brks. K32 Cruise ctrl. L31 455 Eng 4bbl. M40 Auto trans.
N10   Dual exh. N30 Dlx steering whl. N40 Power steering. U50 Stereo Rad.

The car has 135k miles, i nor the prior owner do not know if the engine was ever rebuilt.  But the previous owner has done the following maintenance work:

Receipts for the following as well as additional routine maintenance receipts:
Feb 2002 - Replace brake master cylinder. Replace brake pads and shoes. Replace plug wires. pcv. oil cap. speedometer cable.
Oct 2006 - Replaced upper and lower ball joints. Replaced fuel pump. Replaced spark plugs, cap rotor, Front and rear shocks. Delco battery.
Sep 2007 - Remove and send out clock for repair. Clean and adjust brakes.
Nov 2007 - Remove engine, clean, paint original Olds blue. Replaced timing chain set and water pump. Replaced all gaskets oil pan to intake. Replaced motor mounts. Sway bar bushings. Front and rear springs. Front and rear control arms bushings. ignitor+coil.

Original carb is not on the car but i do have it... currently has an edelbrock installed. I will update this listing with carb and distributor codes....

Some value guides to refer to: CPI Black book #4 condition is $17,125 #3 and Hagarty #4 is $36,000 and shows a huge jump in the past year.

I will assist with any shipping needs, but shipping cost/pickup buyer is responsible for.

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
