1969 Oldsmobile 442 W30 4spd Non-air on 2040-cars

Here is an original 19k mile 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442. This car is equipped with the W-30 option. It was just removed from long term storage in Ohio. It was in there since at least 1985. It is a very complete car some of the hard to find items still in place. I think about how this car must have looked and performed when it was new. Being a factory Platinum Silver paint car with a black interior, it had a real menacing look. That's right, its a Platinum on black 4 speed 442. Originally it was equipped with the 360 hp 400 cubic inch engine with a fresh air induction. Behind the engine came a Muncie 4 speed hooked to a 12 B.O.P rear end. The trans and rear are retained to this very day. The engine is long gone as is, the air cleaner assembly. It still has the factory plastic, red in color, inner fender wells. All of the W-30 suspension is there still. The boxed control arms, front (removed currently) and rear sway bar, manual drum brakes. It also has the limited slip posi rear end. These components have been with this car since it was assembled way over in Michigan. That's where all W-30 cars were built in the USA. The interior is mostly complete but the headliner and carpet was removed and discarded due to mildew. It has an aftermarket shifter in place of the factory piece(I was able to obtain the factory hurst shifter with 442 script and linkage though). The rally dash has a factory tic toc tach that works. This was part of the rally pack option that all W-30 442 cars came with. I have looked in the headliner, the bench seat backs and underneath, the rear seat and in the door panels for the build sheet. I have had no luck finding it. I'm not saying its not in the car somewhere, I just haven't found it. So, after discussing this car with a few Oldsmobile gurus, they have all came to the conclusion that this is the real deal and the baddest of the bad. The car has a 455 in it currently with a holley 750dp carb, Torker II intake, C-heads, deep oil pan and a Lakewood Steel bellhousing. The motor sounds like it has a rather healthy camshaft, along with hooker headers and 3” exhaust and flowmasters. This is a Non A/C, manual steering, manual brakes bench seat 4spd car. I also have tons of extra parts, mostly complete nice 70 cutlass black interior, a nice set of black A-body buckets seats, Nice black non-air 69 dash, original rust free 69 deck lid, Driver quality 69 front and rear bumpers, complete fresh built still in the bag 355 old with forged pistons, and another builder 350 with everything to re-assemble. I also have complete 70 front disc brake spindle, 71 chevelle 12bolt posi rear with a bad ring gear and summit racing rear disc brake conversion kit new in the box. I also had a custom 1 off EFI fuel injection intake manifold made for the 455 as I wanted to EFI the car and keep it oldsmobile. There are tons more, I know I am forgetting. I bought this car 5 years ago after long term storage and haven’t had the time or finances to give it what it deserves. What I have done since I purchased it was re-installed reproduction clutch linkage as some of the original parts were mixed matched when I purchased the car. Changed all fluilds and install the new holley carb and tune up to get it up and running. The car has been in storage the entire time I have had it with pulling it out and starting it monthly. The condition of this car is running and driving. It has minor rust for a car this old, lower quarters are soft, lower fenders have bubbles, small hole in drivers front portion of floor (about the size of a dollar folded long ways, and a few small holes in the drivers side of the trunk pan). It needs a restoration to be beautiful again. This includes minor sheet metal and mechanical in all areas. This car will be sold as is, where is. It will be sold with transferable Ohio title. A $1500 non refundable deposit is due 48 hours after the auction ends through PayPal. So please bid hard, bid often. This is a reserve auction. Bottom line, no BS. Look at my feedback. GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant
Wed, 18 Jun 2014If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.

Thu, 09 Oct 2014The last time I roped a coworker into an automotive debate, I lost. Resoundingly, I might add. Still, 2,385 voters chose to cast their lots for the Fiat 500 Abarth, as opposed to 5,273 choosing the Ford Fiesta ST, and so I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least 30 percent of you, dear readers, see things my way. I still like to think we have more fun, too.
My loss in the first round of our This or That series, in which two Autoblog editors pick sides on any given topic and then attempt to explain why the other is completely wrong, didn't stop me from picking another good-natured fight, this time with Senior Editor Seyth Miersma. Last time, our chosen sides were eerily similar in design, albeit quite different in actual execution. This time, our vehicular peculiarities couldn't seemingly fall any further from one another: A 1980 Oldsmobile 442 wouldn't seem to match up in comparison to a 1989 BMW 635CSi.
How did we come up with such disparate contenders? Simple, really. Seyth and I mutually agreed to choose a car that's currently for sale online. It had to be built and sold in the 1980s, and it had to be a coupe. The price cap was set at $10,000. The fruits of our searching labors will henceforth be disputed, with Seyth on the side of the Germans, and myself arguing in favor of the Rocket Olds. Am I setting myself up for another lopsided loss?
