Selling my 68 442 convertible due to having interest in other cars. With this being said don't need to sell it nor do I need those fore mentioned cars of interest. So if it doesn't sell that's okay. 

History:

I have owned this car for seven years and I am third owner. Second owner drove car seldom  and was garaged.

Odometer reads 103,000 miles but that did stop working after one year of me owning it.

I have used this in summer months and one full year gone due to restoration.

I would estimate 10,000 miles of use since purchase due to local use and one trip to Cape Cod.

This car upon purchase was a true survivor in every sense of the word.

Top was original as well as interior.

All body panels original and untouched. Paint was original also.

This car has never given me any problems and was never hammered. Still has original pressed ball joints as well as rear springs.

Car rides incredible with no rattles.

I have never taken motor over 4500 RPMs, yes guilty of occasional burn outs

 

 

Drive train/Engine compartment:

Car is all original far as drive train and numbers matching.  Carb is currently a 69 253 but have 68 251 that was in bad shape. Car was originally a three speed some 170 made give or take.

Original 400 was rebuilt by original owner in early 2000s. It runs fantastic and never I mean never has given me any issues what so ever. I have never had motor out of car.

Radiator is original to car so I was told but was not replaced with second owner or myself

Replaced parts are as follows water pump and alternator and that is correct Delco.

Engine compartment has been completely restored to original date period. Everything is painted correct colors.

Top of radiator support and radiator top plate restored and with correct stickers

Fender wells restored

NOS steering box cover

NOS horn relay

NOS COIL

NOS Delco master cylinder cover

NOS RC 15 radiator cap

NOS temperature sending unit

NOS Trico wiper blades

Correct oil sending unit which reads on and off. I think it is the connection on unit itself.

Air cleaner restored and original with all correct stickers.

Heat shroud is fully intact and restored as well.

Fire wall is perfect with power trunk set up.

Wind shield wiper motor sprays fluid and hood light works.

I have since put an M-20 in it as a result there is no reverse lights due no back up switch. I do however have original three speed with all linkage and reverse light set up. Potential new owner can take both trannys or whatever decision is made on his or hers part.

Speedometer is hooked up but does not work for which I do not know why.

Rear is posi and is 308 ratio.

Exhaust is new as well as mufflers. Trumpets new as well. 

 

 

 

Body:

When I had restoration done, only rust was in bottom passenger side fender and rear quarter. These repairs only required metal patches.

The lead seams are still in the car where rear quarters meet by trunk. Body is incredibly straight.

Paint is correct K code Ocean Turquoise and was two stage process. I decided to put W-36 stripes and was not present for that and they were not put in correct position.

I chose not to have redone for I wanted car back.

There are a few blemishes that are illustrated in pictures mostly from pebbles being thrown up on hood from use.

In addition there is one spot on lower passenger door that recently bubbles, it is small and is also illustrated in pictures.Floors are original and are in excellent condition as well as trunk floor and have been under coated.

 

 

 Interior:

Interior as mentioned has been done over with PUI door panels and seat coverings before I knew about Legendary. New carpet as well has been installed.

NOS dimmer switch

Sill plates are new.

Car was originally console delete and I have put one in there painted correct pearl paint. Top plates are nice with some scratches but no pits.

A rally pac was installed as well.

Dash is in incredible shape for its age and is original. Lower dash is excellent with NOS bezels installed. Some of the painted identifying bezels could be better.

Glove box is new and has power trunk button.

Kick panels are original and are in great shape and function well.

In addition a 68 am/fm stereo as well as correct 68 eight track installed both work well.

Front speaker and rear speakers work as well

Steering wheel was added along with center cap but with reproduction hub which is not like a true 68 steering wheel hub.

Car did come with accessory light package including map light as well as lighted rear view mirror which was also restored.

Every interior light works in this car as well as hood and trunk light.

Weather stripping replaced around doors.

Have new complete convertible top weather stripping but never installed it.

Car does not leak anywhere.

 

Trunk:

Trunk compartment restored with original spare tire. I did put cover on it which technically should not be there due to Super Stock wheels. Floor mat is new and jack is complete and original.

I did not choose to paint inside of deck lid because of original stickers were still in place and wanted that demonstrated.

 

 

Wheels/tires

Wheels are original and are 14 by 6 Super Stock IIs. Center caps are original and did not replace them and they do have some flaws due to age..

Has correct brushed metal rings within rims. Rear passenger side trim ring has some blemishes and have a spare one as well.

Tires are new as well and are raised white letter.

 

Front grills:

Headlight housings are new as well grill which is NOS.

 

 

 

Exterior lights/lens:

All head lights replaced with reproduction T-3 lamps

NOS side marker lights

Rear taillight lenses original and show well for age.

All lights work as well as signal lights

 

 

 

Chrome/Stainless:

Chrome has all been replaced. Front and rear bumpers are new. Fender moldings and hood molding new as well.

Remote mirror is NOS

Antenna is also NOS

Stainless has been polished last year and shows well.

Rear driver side peak molding has some dents illustrated in pictures.

Rear trunk molding original to car and is missing a few studs; currently has 3M double stick tape in those areas of missing studs

 

 

Glass:

Glass is all intact.

Front wind shield is original and has some blemishes but no cracks.

Side glass shows well with the exception of two very thin scratches on driver side window.

 

Undercarriage:

Undercarriage has been painted period correct.

This includes cast paint on sway bars, drums, cross member and drive shaft

Correct shock paint applied.

Gas tank painted as well

Frame as well as is semi black

Front end has had upgrades such as new springs.

Car has original ball joints.

 

I HAVE DESCRIBED THIS CAR THE BEST I CAN AND BELIEVE I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN ANYTHING. IF I DO REMEMBER SOMETHING OF SIGNIFICANCE THAT I OMITTED WILL DOCUMENT IT.

THIS IS A GREAT CAR WITH NO ISSUES OTHER THAN A FEW COSMETICS FLAWS.

MY PRICE IS FAIR BASED ON THE CONDITION THEREFORE VERY LITTE LATITUDE FAR AS NEGOTIATING - TOO GOOD OF A CAR.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

The last time I roped a coworker into an automotive debate, I lost. Resoundingly, I might add. Still, 2,385 voters chose to cast their lots for the Fiat 500 Abarth, as opposed to 5,273 choosing the Ford Fiesta ST, and so I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least 30 percent of you, dear readers, see things my way. I still like to think we have more fun, too.
My loss in the first round of our This or That series, in which two Autoblog editors pick sides on any given topic and then attempt to explain why the other is completely wrong, didn't stop me from picking another good-natured fight, this time with Senior Editor Seyth Miersma. Last time, our chosen sides were eerily similar in design, albeit quite different in actual execution. This time, our vehicular peculiarities couldn't seemingly fall any further from one another: A 1980 Oldsmobile 442 wouldn't seem to match up in comparison to a 1989 BMW 635CSi.
How did we come up with such disparate contenders? Simple, really. Seyth and I mutually agreed to choose a car that's currently for sale online. It had to be built and sold in the 1980s, and it had to be a coupe. The price cap was set at $10,000. The fruits of our searching labors will henceforth be disputed, with Seyth on the side of the Germans, and myself arguing in favor of the Rocket Olds. Am I setting myself up for another lopsided loss?

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
