!!! PLEASE NOTE OPTIONAL ITEMS AVAILABLE FOR THIS CAR AT END OF LISTING!!!!
                                                                                 RALLY-PAC & 4 SPEED

Here is a nice opportunity to own a nice 442. This is an easy restoration for anyone who wants to start with a great solid California convertible.

First off, the car has not run in about five years, so it will need to be trailered. It was running until it got water in the gas and was parked. Engine was fine, I believe it has a bit of a cam in it. Transmission is fine, shifted well. Ran and drove normally until the water issue.
I have too many projects, and for some reason I never put the energy into getting this back on the road. I figure it's time to let someone else have it.

The car is very original and complete. The few pieces it needed, I hunted up. Like replacement trim for pieces that weren't straight .A/C pieces were missing, although it still needs the condenser and drier.I didn't worry about those since they are easy to come by.  Has the correct 442 heads and block as well as most other critical pieces.

I included a number of pictures to show the nice condition of the body. The only rust is the few holes in the trunk you see that are an easy fix, and the passenger floor has some bad spots from a leaking heater core. I did not pull up the carpet, but from underneath it looks quite good. There is a spot at the base of the windshield that needs some attention as seen. The car was repainted years ago and the paint is poor and peeling. I can not detect any body damage spots, but I have no way of knowing for sure. Original color was champagne. The interior needs to be redone, but is fine to use as is. Needs a top, all glass is good.    This is a power window, power brake, power steering, A/C car.

The bad news.......If you are in this path-etic state we call California, there will be back fees due from being out of registration since '07, so be aware. Other states may have issues with this too, so check on this before you buy.

<<<<<<HERE IS AN ADDITIONAL OFFER FOR THE WINNING BUYER>>>>

I had planned on making this a  CORRECT , UNDETECTABLE  4 speed ralley-pac car. I hunted up all the items I needed to do the conversion. What I mean is NO REPRODUCTION parts. I have the muncie transmission, the bell housing, flywheel, steering column, the ULTRA-RARE correct hump for the floor (the repo's are Chevelle...WRONG!), the correct boot, shifter, linkage, including the RARE, correct 4 speed accelerator linkage at the firewall, pedals, rods, etc. It is possible I am missing real minor items, but the bulk of hard to find stuff is there. I was planning on keeping the bench seat because I think 4 speed bench cars are real cool, so no bucket seats or console here.
Yes, I have the rally pac too.!!!  I also have the correct SS1 wheels.

The winning buyer has the first right of refusal for these parts. I WILL NOT separate any of it, please don't ask!! I am asking $4500 additional on the price of the car. If the winning bidder buys it, I will load it all into the trunk and send it with the car.

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.
