How many of these 1964 Cutlass F85'S with the 442 package do you see for sale today? This will be a good investment for someone. I recently talked with someone who knew the car very well. He told me he had this car in his garage for 9 years and that he built the engine and it was bored 30 over, and he also had gone through the transmission and rear end. It belonged to a friend of his and they sold it because he had cancer. I tried to do some research and I will include the information below. I know there are many Olds and muscle car enthusiasts who know much more than I do. You can research the information below, and be your own judge.

  • 330 Engine - the front of the block has the numbers 381917 - which was correct for a 1964 330 Engine
  • On the side of the head it reads T141787G - The T is for a 64-65 330 Engine, 141787 - is the production sequence, G - which means the engine is high compression
  • The 4 Speed Transmission has the numbers 3851325, Patent NO 3088336 and then General Motors Corp. The 3851325 is the correct number for a 1964 and up Muncie 4 Speed Transmission
  • I have the original Protect-O-Plate - It has the original owner's name and address. It was sold new in Reidsville, North Carolina. It has the numbers T141787G which matches the numbers on the side of the head. Then it has 3237-LLA-960. The 3237 is on the cowl tag also - that is a 2 Door Holiday Hardtop Cutlass. The Code L - is the color code which is Regal Mist. The LA is where it was produced in Lansing Michigan. 960 is on the Protect-O-Plate - which is the trim code - F85 Deluxe trim Black Vinyl. It has the date 5/30/64 and the serial number  twice on the Protect-O-Plate.
  • There were only 2,999 Cutlass F85'S that were equipped with the 442 package in 1964. There were 1,842 with the 442 package on this particular 3237 code Holiday Hardtop Cutlass.
  • The Cowl Tag or Body Plate Reads: Code M - Lansing Michigan, 3237 - 2 Door Holiday Cutlass, LA - Lansing Michigan, Trim 960 - F85 Deluxe Trim Black Vinyl, Code L - Regal Mist, ACC2L - 4 Speed, could also be bucket seats.

I have read several reports that said that the 442's were only produced in Lansing, Michigan. It also has the front and rear sway bars. The 442 was a package that was added on the Cutlass F85 that cost an extra $285.14 in 1964. The 442 package was introduced in April of 1964.

The car runs and drives good. It has power steering, Cragar Mags and BF Goodrich White Letter Tires. The car is being sold AS-IS with no warranty either expressed or implied. You are more than welcome to make an appointment and come look at the car or have a third party look at the car before the auction ends. This is an Alabama Car. Alabama does not issue titles for cars that are 35 years old and older. When you purchase the car you will receive the original tag registration, a notarized Bill of Sale with the correct information on it, and we can also provide a title extension as if it had a title. We are a licensed Alabama dealer and the paper work will be in our company name. If you are an Alabama Resident, a two and one-half percent sales tax will be added to the final bid. Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.
