I'm selling my Xterra because I got a truck a while back and I'm tired of the Xterra taking up space in my driveway!  I bought it certified pre-owned in 2006 with 20,000K miles; I've personally put the last 100,000K miles on it (through college and the first part of medical school).  It has been very well maintained with timely oil changes, transmission fluid changes, greasing, air filter replacement, etc.

For full disclosure, I will list the known defects below (they are all VERY minor and I haven't had them fixed because I think it is overkill to spend the money for such minor things!):
  • Minor hail damage on the hood (see photo of the hood)
  • The "service engine soon" light comes on intermittently.  I had it checked and the code is PO463 (see photo).  This is basically some minor wiring issue that causes the gas gauge to be inaccurate (I rely on the trip and simply fill up once I reach a certain mileage).  The Nissan dealer wanted $600 to fix it, which I felt was excessive.
  • The "low tire pressure" light started coming on intermittently a few weeks ago although I knew the tires weren't low.  The Nissan dealer told me it is a faulty pressure sensor in the rear passenger-side tire.  They wanted $250 to fix it, which I again felt was excessive as I can easily monitor the tire pressure myself!
  • The CD player doesn't work (it won't eject CDs).  The radio and all speakers work just fine but the CD player doesn't work.
Other than the aforementioned minor defects, everything else works and looks great.  There are no stains in the interior and this is a non-smoker vehicle.  The 4x4 works great and this vehicle drives very well in the snow and rain.  There is also ample storage and hauling ability in the vehicle.  The tires are high-quality all-terrains with ~75% tread left.

Renault to Nissan: Stop trying to contact our board members

Wed, Dec 12 2018

TOKYO/PARIS — Renault told alliance partner Nissan to stop contacting the French company's directors ahead of a Thursday board meeting as the Japanese automaker tried to share evidence of wrongdoing by its ousted chairman, Carlos Ghosn, two sources said. Ever since Ghosn's Nov. 19 arrest in Japan, Renault and the French government, the automaker's biggest shareholder, have demanded to see the findings of a Nissan internal investigation that include allegations of financial misconduct by the 64-year-old executive. Ghosn was charged on Monday in Japan for failing to declare deferred income he had agreed to receive for the five years ending March 2015. While Nissan fired him as chairman days after his arrest, he remains chairman and CEO of its French partner. Renault's board meets on Dec. 13, and the findings of Nissan's investigation will be shared at the meeting where Ghosn's future could be also debated, one of the sources with knowledge of the matter said. The French firm told Nissan not to contact its directors ahead of the meeting, because such contact was outside the agreed channels for communication of the sensitive findings, the source said. Nissan offered last week to brief Renault's board about findings on what it considers proof of wrongdoing by Ghosn, said a second source who has knowledge of the matter but declined to be identified as it was confidential. But Renault advised Nissan to brief its lawyers instead, which led to a meeting between the Japanese firm's officials and Renault's legal teams early this week in Paris, the person said. The Japanese automaker later invited Thierry Bollore, who was named Renault's deputy CEO with the same powers as Ghosn a day after his arrest, as well as board members, to examine the contents of the findings, said the source. Bollore, though, told Nissan on Tuesday to "refrain from contacting the board," the source said. The exchange between Renault and Nissan is another example of the testy relationship between the two automakers, despite assurances by executives on both sides to preserve the alliance. The alliance, of which Ghosn has been the driving force, is widely seen as vital for the members' long-term survival. Board members invited to see the evidence included Martin Vial, who heads the French state shareholdings agency, interim Chairman Philippe Lagayette and independent director Patrick Thomas, the second source said. A Renault spokesperson declined to comment.

Preserving automotive history costs big bucks

$1.8 million is spent each year to maintain GM's fleet of 600 production and concept cars.
When at least two of the Detroit Three were on the verge of death a few years back, one of the tough questions that was asked of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler execs - outside of why execs were still taking private planes to meetings - was why each company maintained huge archives of old production and concept vehicles. GM, for example, had an 1,100-vehicle collection when talk of a federal bailout began.

Nissan prices limited-edition 2014 GT-R Track Edition from $115,710*

Wed, 01 May 2013

Nissan has released its pricing for the model-year 2014 GT-R, including the new Track Edition of Godzilla. The 2014 Nissan GT-R Premium will now command an MSRP of $99,590, while the Black Edition will go for $109,300 and the new Track Edition will ask $115,710 (*not including a $1,000 destination and handling charge for all models).
Nissan calls the GT-R Track Edition its most exclusive model, which makes sense as it will be limited to just 150 examples for the US market. The competition-ready Track Edition gets Bilstein DampTronic shocks and revised spring rates; all chosen after more development work by Nissan engineers at the Nürburgring. (Good work, if you can get it.) A carbon fiber rear spoiler and six-spoke black wheels come with the package, as do blue-trimmed, high-grip front seats inside. To save weight, the car's rear seats have been deleted in this model.
