For Parts: White 1986 Nissan Sentra Automatic Without Air Cond on 2040-cars
San Francisco, California, United States
It's been over a month now since I crashed my car, and it's time for me to say goodbye to it. I managed to drive it home from the scene, but I wouldn't call it driveable. Had the engine rebuilt in Dec for $1200 with a 1yr warranty, so if you need that, here it is; however, it's currently in need of a warranty repair which will be free AFTER you pull the engine. The rebuilt MTBE-free carburetor ($286) works perfectly and is under warranty till Oct 30, but if you put it in a car with A/C it may need an adjustment. Got 4 new tires ($240) this year with a 45k mile warranty, but I'm not sure that's transferable; I'll hand you the receipt for them. Replaced the starter with one from O'Reilly less than a month before the crash. Fuel tank, pump, and most of what's under the hood is new, including a copper radiator that replaced the original aluminum one in Dec as a precondition of the engine warranty. I'll also include a second distributor like the one under the hood. If you're working on an '85 or '86 Sentra yourself, this car will be like your personal parts store. The interior has a lot of sun damage and isn't of much interest, but all of the body damage is only to the front. I'll sign over the pinkslip and you can get a non-op until you've used all you can. Smog cert is from Dec so the non-op is needed. Feel free to reuse my wiring of an auxiliary audio input that allows the Google navigation app or similar to give audible driving directions WHILE listening to the radio, switching to phone-only (radio silent) when a call comes in with the flip of a switch on the dash.

Nissan Leaf all-electric taxis start pilot program in NYC [w/video]
Tue, 23 Apr 2013When New York City picked the Nissan NV200 as its Taxi of Tomorrow, many were surprised that the vehicle wasn't electric, or even a hybrid for that matter. With NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg on hand, Nissan celebrated Earth Day on Monday by unveiling a pilot program of electric taxis for the city consisting of six 2013 Nissan Leaf EVs, which the mayor referred to as the "taxi of the day after tomorrow."
This pilot program is aimed to show how EVs can operate as taxi cabs, and Mayor Bloomberg said that New York City hopes to have a third of its taxi fleet electrified by 2020. In addition to the six cars, Nissan has also provided three quick chargers around Manhattan, allowing the Leafs to get an 80-percent recharge in just 30 minutes.
According to David Yassky, commissioner of the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission, "What we have to do now is figure out how you integrate the charging of an electric vehicle into the duty of a taxi cab."
Apple iTunes Radio picks Nissan as first automotive launch partner
Tue, 24 Sep 2013With the launch of iOS 7 last week, those who carry around a certain fruit-branded cellphone got access to a new technology called iTunes Radio. Apple's delayed entry into a market currently dominated by service such as Spotify and Pandora, iTunes Radio allows users to create their own stations or to choose from a number of featured stations. From there, listeners can fine tune their results to deliver more popular songs or newer, deeper tracks. Each song is linked back to the iTunes store, allowing users to easily buy songs they fall in love with.
Now, Nissan has teamed with Apple as the exclusive launch partner for iTunes Radio. This partnership means you'll be seeing some Nissan-specific content when you're surfing through iTunes Radio, with some subtler stuff in the form of material and some not-so-subtle approaches, like Nissan's use of iAd, a system that allows developers to directly insert advertisements into apps. The focus at first will be on the upcoming Rogue, the redesigned Versa Note and the Leaf EV.
Nissan's vice president of marketing in North America, Jon Brancheau, explained the team up, saying, "We see iTunes Radio as an integral part of our new vehicle launches and 'big moments,' riding the wave of interest and usage of this exciting new service to maximize exposure of Nissan's new models." Take a look below for the rundown from Nissan.
2013 Nissan GT-R and 2013 Alpina B6 mix it up on track and street
Fri, 24 May 2013
Here we have Autocar making an unforeseen comparison: the Nissan GT-R against the Alpina B6 at Brands Hatch and on public roads. Steve Sutcliffe clobbers the circuit in the 3,828-pound, all-wheel-drive sports car, then sees how well the 4,114-pound, rear-wheel drive grand tourer does against it.
Sutcliffe says there are quite a few similarities between the two cars, but that's really only on the spec sheet. The Nissan's got two turbos attached to its 3.8-liter V6, 542 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. The Alpina's got two turbos attached to its 4.4-liter V8, 532 hp and 528 lb-ft. But one's brief is to be a monster on the track, the other on the boulevard, and if there's anything the video demonstrates, it's each car's focus.
