THIS CLASSIC NISSAN HAS ALMOST NO RUST AND ALMOST NO DENTS AND HAS JUST A VERY GOOD SOLID BODY...BETTER THAN 95% OF UNRESTORED VINTAGE TRUCKS. AS STATED, THE ORIGINAL ENGINE WAS REPLACED WITH A PEPPY 2.4 LITER Z24 4 CYLINDER OUT OF A WRECKED NISSAN 4X4 WITH ONLY 67,000 MILES SHOWING ON ODOMETER. THE TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE WERE REPLACED IN 2010 WITH A 5 SPEED FROM ANOTHER NISSAN 4X4 WITH UNKNOWN MILEAGE. THIS TRUCK IS CERTAINLY NOT RESTORED, BUT IT IS IN GOOD CONDITION TO BE OVER 25 YEARS OLD AND IT IS MUCH NICER THAN 90% THAT YOU WILL SEE ON THE ROAD. THE ENGINE WAS SWAPPED LESS THAN 500 MILES AGO AND THE ORIGINAL ENGINE WILL BE INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION FOR THE WINNING BIDDER.THE TRUCKS SITS UP TALL WITH INDEPENDANT FRONT SUSPENSION, LIVE AXLE AND REAL LEAF SPRINGS, AS WELL AS A SET OF 31.5" TIRES ON ALUMINUM 12" WIDE WHEELS. THE TRUCK IS FACTORY EQUIPPED WITH AUTO LOCK HUBS WHICH MAKES IT NICE WHEN YOU DON'T WANT TO GET OUT IN THE MUD AND SNOW TO LOCK IN THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE. WE COMPLETELY FLUSHED THE ENTIRE COOLOING SYSTEM LAST YEAR WHEN THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED AND IT RUNS COOL EVEN IN 100 DEGREE WEATHER. THE Z24 ENGINE RUNS STRONG AND THE 5 SPEED TRANSMISSION SHIFTS WONDERFULLY AND THE CLUTCH IS STRONG. THE INTERIOR IS IN DECENT ORIGINAL CONDITION WITH THE NORMAL WEAR AND SMALL CRACKS ON THE DASH. THIS MODEL WAS EQUIPPED WITH THE OPTIONAL OIL PRESSURE GUAGE AND VOLT / AMP METER AS WELL AS A TACHOMETER AND FUEL GUAGE. THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDS THE NEEDLE REPLACED. THERE ARE ALSO TWO PIECES OF PLASTIC COVERS UNDER THE DASH THAT COULD BE REPLACED. THIS IS THE EXTENDED CAB WHICH MEANS THERE IS ALOT OF ROOM. FROM THE FACTORY IT DID HAVE TWO SMALL SEATS IN THE REAR, BUT THEY ARE NO LONGER THERE...THEY CAN EASILY BE REPLACED OR JUST USED FOR A LARGE STORAGE SPACE. WHEN THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED THE AUTOMATIC CHOKE WIRING WASN'T THE SAME SO IT WAS NEVER WIRED IN. WE DID RUN 12 VOLTS TO IT AND IT WORKS, BUT IT IS NOT WIRED IN. WE ALSO PURCHASED A BRAND NEW MANUAL CHOKE THAT WE WERE PLANNING ON INSTALLING THIS WINTER...IT WILL GO WITH THE PURCHASE. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT A $30,000 RESTORED SHOWTRUCK BY ANY MEANS, HOWEVER IT IS A DECENT VINTAGE CLASSIC 4X4 AT A VERY REASONABLE PRICE AND IT WILL MAKE SOMEONE A NICE DAILY DRIVER OR A WONDERFUL AND ECONOMICAL OFFROAD VEHICLE WITH A PRICETAGE LESS THAN 1/3RD THE PRICE OF A BARGAIN 4 WHEELER OR ATV! Car technology I'm thankful and unthankful for
Mon, Nov 27 2017The past few years have seen a surge of tech features in new vehicles — everything from cloud-based content to semi-autonomous driving. While some of it makes the driving experience better, not all tech is useful or well thought out. Automakers who are adept at drivetrains, ride quality and in-cabin comforts often fail at infotainment interfaces and connectivity. From testing dozens of vehicles each year and in the spirit of gratitude, here are three car tech features I'm thankful — and a trio I could live without. Thanks Connected search: This seems like a no-brainer since everyone already has it on their smartphones, but not all automakers include it in the dashboard and as part of their nav systems. The best ones, such as Toyota Entune, leverage a driver's connected device to search for a range of services and don't charge a subscription or require a separate data plan for the car. I also like how systems like Chrysler Uconnect use Yelp or other apps to find everything from coffee to gas stations and allow searching via voice recognition. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: It took two of the largest tech companies to get in-dash infotainment right. While they have their disadvantages (you're forced to use Apple Maps with CarPlay, for example), the two smartphone-integration platforms make it easier and safer to use their respective native apps for phoning, messaging, music and more behind the wheel by transferring a familiar UI to the dashboard — with no subscription required. Heated seats and steering wheels: I really appreciate these simple but pleasant features come wintertime. It's easy to get spoiled by bun-warmers on frosty mornings and using a heated steering wheel to warm the cold hands. I recently tested a 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe that also had heated armrest that added to a cozy luxury experience. Bonus points for brands like Buick that allow setting seat heaters to turn on when the engine is remotely started. No thanks Automaker infotainment systems: Automakers have probably poured millions into creating their own infotainment systems, with the result largely being frustration on the part of most car owners. And Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming along to make them obsolete. While some automaker systems, such as Toyota Entune and FCA's Uconnect, are easy and intuitive to use, it seems that high-end systems (I'm looking at you BMW iDrive and Mercedes-Benz COMAND) are the most difficult.
2015 Nissan Murano to hit the stage in NY
Tue, 18 Feb 2014When the Nissan Murano launched in the early-2000s it was one of the first crossovers to eschew truck-like looks in favor of more sporty styling. For the third generation, Nissan is rumored to be taking the CUV's design even farther with inspiration from the wild Resonance concept that debuted at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. According to Edmunds, Nissan will unveil the next-generation, 2015 Murano and an unnamed concept at the New York Auto Show in April.
The new Murano will go on sale this fall on the same front-wheel drive platform as the Altima, Pathfinder and next-gen Maxima. Its size will be roughly unchanged compared to the current model, and there won't be a seven-seater option. Nissan spokesman Dan Bedore told Edmunds that it already offers "three rows in the Rogue as an option and three rows in the Pathfinder for everything. We don't need another three-row crossover." There will also be a rumored hybrid version using the Pathfinder's supercharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a 22-horsepower electric motor and lithium-ion battery. To disappoint the dozen people who will miss it, the much-maligned Murano CrossCabriolet will not make it to the third generation. Let's all shed a tear.
Nissan's Carlos Ghosn offers to wear electronic ankle tag if released
Mon, Jan 21 2019TOKYO — Ousted Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn has offered to wear an electronic ankle tag and hire guards to monitor him in an unusual bid to secure his release on bail after two months of harsh detention in Japan for alleged financial crimes. Ghosn is also willing to remain in Tokyo, where he has leased an apartment, and post stock he owns in Nissan as collateral, his spokeswoman said. A new bail hearing is set for Monday after an earlier request was denied due partly to concerns the French executive was a flight risk. His release would allow Ghosn to meet more frequently with his lawyers and defend himself before the board of Renault, where he remains chairman and CEO, amid calls for his removal and potential moves to restructure the Nissan tie-up. Ghosn denies any wrongdoing as he awaits trial on charges of financial misconduct. "I will attend my trial not only because I am legally obligated to do so, but because I am eager to finally have the opportunity to defend myself," Ghosn said in a statement on Sunday. "I am not guilty of the charges against me, and I look forward to defending my reputation in the courtroom." Meanwhile, Ghosn's wife, Carole Ghosn, has written to French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss her husband's situation, her public relations representative said. The representative, Devon Spurgeon, confirmed a report in French paper Journal du Dimanche that a letter had been sent to Macron this month, but declined to provide details. France wants a full merger As Ghosn's arrest on Nov. 19 continued to cloud the outlook for Nissan's three-way alliance with France's Renault and Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan said it was not the time to discuss revising the partners' capital ties. Ghosn, who spearheaded Nissan's turnaround two decades ago, had pushed for a deeper tie-up between Nissan and Renault, including possibly a full merger by 2020, despite strong reservations at the Japanese firm. "We are not at the stage for such discussions," Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa told reporters on Monday. Saikawa said he had not heard directly about a reported proposal by the French government to integrate the Japanese carmaker's management with Renault. The Nikkei newspaper reported on Sunday that a French government delegation had informed Tokyo that it would seek an integration of Renault and Nissan, most likely under the umbrella of a single holding company. "Since I have not heard this directly, I cannot comment," Saikawa told reporters.
