The unique Nissan Patrol is a 4WD truck somewhere between a Jeep CJ-3, an FJ40 and an old Land Rover. It's in good running condition and is complete with a hard-top and doors. Very cool vehicle and layout. It's a1965 so no smog to worry about. Recently replaced: new spark plugs and wires, new battery, new oil filter, re-cored radiator, rebuilt head, and rebuilt carb. I love the looks and the layout with a bench across the front and side mounted seats in the back that fold up. I recently reacquired my CJ-7 that I had for years, so now the Patrol needs a new home.
This is quite a neat little rig... Nissan Patrols are extremely rare in the United States; only around 2600 were ever sold in the United States. They were imported here from around 1962 to 1969. The Patrol that was sold in the US was the L60 model. The "L" stands for left-hand drive. The only variations sold here were the KL60 hardtop (most us patrols are this model like this one) and the regular L60 soft-top. The 60 series Patrol was made until 1979, basically unchanged, and was sold in countries such as Australia. Patrols are still made today and sold almost everywhere in the world, except North America. Renault invests in French electric car plant upgrade
Fri, Jun 15 2018PARIS — Renault will invest more than 1 billion euros ($1.2 billion) to increase electric vehicle production capacity in France and add new models, the carmaker said on Thursday. The Zoe production line in Flins, west of Paris, will double its maximum output with the battery-powered subcompact's next upgrade, the company said in a statement, and its northern Douai factory will tool up to build electric cars on a new architecture shared with Japanese affiliate Nissan. "The acceleration of our investments in France for electric vehicles will increase the competitiveness and attractiveness of our French industrial sites," said Renault Chairman and Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn, who also chairs Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors and heads the carmakers' three-way alliance. The Cleon plant will triple its electric motor production capacity, while Maubeuge in eastern France receives tooling investment for the next Kangoo van including its electric version, Renault said. 2013 Nissan Leaf [w/video]
Thu, 16 May 2013If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It
Look at the 2013 Nissan Leaf - even one parked next to a 2012 model - and you'll be hard-pressed to spot the differences. Changes and updates have been made, but you have to know the details to tell. It's sort of like listening to a hipster tell you why Interpol and The National have completely different sounds.
Nissan says it didn't reinvent the Leaf because what the company has created is working. Over 25,000 Leafs have been sold in the US - 62,000 around the world - since the car went on sale in late 2010. That may not sound like a lot, but it's heads and shoulders above any other all-electric car available anywhere. The car has its detractors - boy, does it ever - but Nissan knows it's hard to argue with real-world success.
Nissan Qashai gets the Juke R treatment
Thu, 03 Oct 2013It would appear that we're a little behind the times on this one, but a UK-based tuner of the Nissan GT-R is creating its own take on the lustworthy Juke-R starting with the Nissan Qashqai crossover. Severnvalley Motorsport claims to be the leading authority for tuning of the current GT-R in Europe. The outfit is now turning its attention to stuffing the drivetrain of a GT-R under the body of a Qashqai+2 - a seven-passenger compact crossover similar in size to our Nissan Rogue - resulting in the Qashqai-R.
The project started back in March when Severnvalley took delivery of a new Qashqai. After stripping the crossover down to its bare essentials and building a custom jig to support the body shell, it was then transferred onto an awaiting GT-R chassis. The crew aimed to keep Qashqai's appearance as stock as possible, but fender extensions and hood vents were required to accommodate the sports car underpinnings.
The white Qashqai-R seen above will be tuned to produce 900 horsepower, while a black version will get bumped up to 1,000 hp. And, looking at the build photos, we surmise that this project will take nothing less than a herculean feat of supercar determination before it's through.
