2000 Nissan Maxima Se Sedan 4-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Cumberland, Maryland, United States
Hello and thanks for clicking for additional information on this auction. Up for bid is a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE with nearly 184,000 miles on its strong V6 engine. The car accelerates great and runs strong despite its miles. The interior is typical for a vehicle with this mileage, however it was a non-smoker car and there are no rips, tears or holes on the cloth seating. Car comes with a single disc Sony CD Player recently installed along with working interior and exterior lights. No known engine issues or sounds coming from the engine. Tires have about 50% tread life left on all four (replaced at the same time) along with front and rear brakes and rotors that were installed in early March. The vehicle would make a great highway car or a just around town ride. There are a few minor scratches on the vehicle as shown in the pictures, most of them are hairline and not deep enough to be seen from a distance. It looks as though someone tried to wax the hood with a brush so there are some hairline scratches there as well. There is also a spot on the right passenger door where someone may have tried to get the doors unlocked by lifting the top of the door. The weather stripping is still in place and does keep the rain out. The headlights like most vehicles with high miles and older are fogged and will more than likely need cleaned or replaced depending on your state inspection guidelines, however the headlight bulbs are about two weeks old. When driving this vehicle the engine feels strong, steering is great along with easy and timely acceleration, however with that being said there are some issues with the front of the vehicle and exhaust. I am not a mechanic so these are my best assumptions. It sounds as though there is a small hole in the exhaust it is not excessively loud, but you can tell it’s a bit louder than it should be. Also when driving over bumps or uneven pavement there is a squeaking noise followed by what sounds like the axels or wheel bearings making a cracking noise. There is also some rubbing which sounds like the front brakes and rotors rubbing together when the brakes are hotter, not sure since they were replaced in March and stop like new brakes should. I have uploaded a video and pictures giving you a good outline of the vehicle, please listen closely to the last about two minutes of the video for the sound that car makes when it goes over bumpy residential streets. If the vehicle reaches its low reserve price I will see that it has an oil change and a full tank of gas for the winner of the auction. I cannot provide temporary tags so winner will need to make arrangements to pick the vehicle up with a trailer or have it shipped to them. I can help arrange that if need be for an additional charge. Current Kelley Blue Book Fair to Good Private Party Value is: $2200-2600.00. The reserve is set low and if you happen to have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me and I will get back to you or forward you my number so we can talk. Terms: Payment Options: Thanks for your time. |

Nissan's autonomous cars could drive in US first, maybe by 2020
Fri, Jan 24 2014Future shock could be just six short years away, and coming first to the US. Nissan says it might start making autonomous versions of its cars available in the US by 2020, before the tech hits the road in other countries. The Japanese automaker is in extensive discussions with regulators from California, the best-selling state for the Leaf battery-electric vehicle, for allowing self-driving vehicles to be on its roads, Hybrid Cars says, citing a conversation with Nissan executive Andy Christensen at the recent Detroit Auto Show. Many decisions need to be made between now and then, given the hurdles related to issues such as regulations, liability, safety and technology - and Christensen said the first wave of self-driving vehicles would be able to do their thing only on the highway. The vehicle of choice is most likely to be the Leaf because it's completely battery operated, making the conversion to autonomy that much easier. Last summer, Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn first promised production autonomous cars by 2020. The automaker has teamed up with MIT, Stanford, Oxford and others to extensively test its "Autonomous Drive" concepts since then. Late last year, Nissan tested a self-driving Leaf on Japanese public roads. Nissan is not alone promoting autonomous driving as a way to increase safety, fuel economy and traffic flow, just some of the reasons why the idea may be the wave of the nearer-than-we-thought-future. For example, the company says 93 percent of accidents are caused by driver error.
Ghosn: Restoring Mitsubishi's reputation is biggest challenge
Thu, May 12 2016After news that Mitsubishi falsified its fuel economy data on every vehicle it has sold in Japan since 1991, and the tumble in the company's value that followed, the troubled carmaker has an unlikely savior. Nissan has confirmed it will purchase over one third of Mitsubishi's stock, or 34 percent. The stake is valued at $2.2 billion. Ghosn says making Mitsubishi a part of the Renault-Nissan alliance will save billions in development costs. But the merger certainly isn't without challenges. "The biggest challenge is to support Mitsubishi changing itself and growing and being profitable and restoring its reputation," said Ghosn. Nissan is a natural partner for Mitsubishi, and since the fuel economy scandal escalated from discrepancies in the data regarding Mitsubishi-manufactured, Nissan-badged Japan-market vehicles, it makes sense for the company to sweep in and save the day. Nissan itself is partially owned by Renault, and Nissan has a 15-percent stake in the French automaker. Mitsubishi's chairman, Osamu Masuko says that the merger was inevitable, that it "would have happened one day" anyway, according to the New York Times. Carlos Ghosn, chairman of both Nissan and Renault, is confident they will be able to turn Mitsubishi's fortunes around. "We have the track record to make it work", Ghosn said, referring to the Renault-funded rescue of Nissan in the early 2000s. Related Video:
UK electric motor maker YASA expands production 50-fold for EVs
Thu, Feb 1 2018LONDON — British electric motor manufacturer YASA said on Thursday it was increasing its production capacity from 2,000 to 100,000 units with a new factory to tap into growing demand from carmakers for greener technologies. Automakers are racing to build greener vehicles and improve charge times in a bid to meet rising customer demand and air quality targets but Britain lacks sufficient manufacturing capacity, an area the government is building up. Last year, the government picked a site in central England to house a new automotive battery development facility, which will develop the processes required to manufacture the latest battery advancements. On Thursday, YASA, based near the English city of Oxford, said it had raised another 15 million pounds ($21 million) as part of its expansion. "Our customers are looking to adopt innovative new technologies such as YASA's axial-flux electric motors and controllers in order to meet the needs of the rapidly expanding hybrid and pure electric automotive market," said Chief Executive Chris Harris. The firm exports 80 percent of production and has worked with companies including Britain's two biggest carmakers Jaguar Land Rover and Nissan as well as Aston Martin. JLR will decide this year whether to build electric cars in its home market, previously citing factors such as pilot testing and support from science and government as pre-requisites.
