Excellent condition 2006 Nissan Xterra S-V6 4x4 for sale. Asking $13,500

History
This vehicle was bought outright new and is still owned by the same owner, so the title is clean. It currently has just reached 44k miles, very low for a 2006. Any mechanical work done on the vehicle was done at a Nissan dealer so it's work history is up to date and true. It has not been in any accidents or fender benders and is always garage kept. We recently brought it to Torre Nissan to get an estimate and the dealer agreed that this particular Xterra is surely the cleanest and most well maintained 2006 Nissan Xterra on the road anywhere. Serious inquiries please, we will accept cash or a bank check only, paid in full.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
This S comes with basic features like air conditioning, a tilt steering wheel, a CD player, cruise control and power windows, locks and mirrors. The interior stays true to its function-over-form mission, and the ergonomics are solid. Interior features include adjustable tie-down hooks in the cargo area with plenty of storage up front. The cargo area is highlighted by an easy-to-clean floor and a total of 10 cargo area utility hooks -- six on the floor/sides and four on the ceiling and sides (floor hooks can carry up to 110 pounds). An adjustable channel system in the cargo floor makes it easier to secure bike racks and other gear. There's also an available built-in first aid kit and space to securely carry jugs up to one gallon in size In addition it comes with 4 splash guards, body side molding, carpeted floor mats, an in-cabin micro-filter and the Utility Package. The Utility Package consists of a Fold-Flat Front Passenger Seat, Tubular Step Rails, Cargo Net, First-Aid Kit, Driver and Passenger Sun Visor w/Mirror & Extender, Driver-side Seatback Pocket and a Tubular Roof-Rack. It also boasts a multimode transfer case that offers 2WD and automatic 4WD modes, in addition to low-range gearing, for maximum flexibility in varying conditions.
Powertrains and Performance
Although this vehicle has never been taken off-road, this Four-wheel-drive version Xterra has the capability to climb like a Big Horn Sheep thanks to a chassis that features fully boxed frame rails and a powerful 4.0-liter V6 that makes 265 hp and 284 lb-ft of torque with a five-speed automatic transmission with a locking rear differential, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist. Its truck chassis doesn't necessarily deliver the sharp handling that a car chassis would, but it's an acceptable trade-off, given its above-average off-road prowess.
Safety
This Xterra also comes equipped with stability control and four-wheel antilock disc brakes fortified with EBD and brake assist. In NHTSA testing, the Nissan Xterra earned four out of five stars for its protection of front occupants in head-on impacts. Five stars were awarded for protection of both front and rear occupants in side-impact crashes.

Recharge Wrap-up: Eigg's renewable energy grid, Wulin City Car EV looks like i3

Fri, Sep 12 2014

Scotland's Isle of Eigg's electrical grid relies solely on wind, hydro and solar power. It's the first grid of its kind after switching to renewable energy from noisy, unreliable diesel generators. Scotland's renewable resources are fodder for supporters of independence form the UK, and Eigg is a perfect example of that potential. Besides being a responsible community, it also seems like a lovely place to visit. Read more at Reuters. London Mayor Boris Johnson is calling for incentives for diesel vehicle scrapping. The goal is to improve London's air quality, encourage the purchase of clean vehicles and offset the inconvenience of charging diesel cars to enter the city's proposed Ultra Low Emissions Zone. Read more at Green Car Congress or in the press release below. BMW, Nissan, Renault and Volkswagen are teaming up to create a better EV charging infrastructure in the UK and Ireland. As part of the Trans-European Transport Network (T-ENT) program, the group aims to create extended EV-friendly roadways with the UK Rapid Charge Network, connecting major cities on the islands. Plans for the network include 70 rapid chargers along 684 miles of road. The four manufacturers also want to extend the project to mainland Europe to encourage the adoption of EVs. Read more at Hybrid Cars. Wuling is working on an EV, called City Car, which liberally takes visual cues from the BMW i3. The City Car EV concept is slated to make its debut in November at the Guangzhou Auto Show, while a production version could make its way onto Chinese roads next year. We might have to wait until the debut to know what powers the City Car, as those details haven't been released yet. General Motors is a 43-percent stakeholder in Wuling. Read and see more at Car News China. Taxi customers in New York will enjoy greater payment flexibility with the new interoperability between RideLinQ and Way2ride apps. Now customers will be able to use either app to pay in any of the city's 20,000 green and yellow taxis. There's no need for separate apps for separate cabs, and no need for drivers to install any new equipment. The groups behind the apps hope to expand this functionality to other cities across the country. Read more in the press release below.

Datsun's lackluster initial sales fall below Tata Nano

Wed, 15 Oct 2014

When Tata introduced the Nano back in 2008, everyone was amazed at how cheap it was. They called it a game changer, but no game was changed. In fact, it took Tata five years to sell the 250,000 units it had the capacity to build in a single year. As it turns out, even buyers in what economists call "developing markets" like India aren't necessarily interested in buying an ultra-cheap automobile. And now it appears that Nissan may be falling into the same trap.
A little over a year ago, Nissan revived its old moniker Datsun to serve as a budget brand - similar to what ally Renault did with Dacia. Its lineup (consisting of models like the Go hatchback, Go+ minivan, On-Do sedan and Mi-Do hatch) is largely based on old architecture, packaged with little more than basic equipment and sold at rock-bottom prices. But Bloomberg reports that, even in the brand's core markets like India and Indonesia, the new Datsuns haven't been selling.
According to local industry figures, Datsun has sold fewer than 10,000 units of its $5,100 Go hatchbacks in India since its introduction back in March. Maruti Suzuki, by comparison, sells twice that many of its similarly priced Alto hatchbacks every month. In fact, after peaking in April, Datsun only sold 607 units in India this past July, dipping 77 percent to drop below even the number of Nanos which Tata sold that month.

Nissan design to show more Chinese influence

Tue, 23 Jul 2013

Nissan is going to be leveraging the weight of the Chinese market by selling cars influenced by the People's Republic in other markets around the globe. The influence of Chinese design is further proof of the country's importance on a global scale. Nissan isn't the only manufacturer that's looking to leverage China's burgeoning design talent, as BMW, Volkswagen, and General Motors have all set up facilities.
In fact, VW and GM have both used Chinese talent to design cars, in the Passat and Buick LaCrosse, respectively. Nissan has already tested the waters with its Beijing studios, penning the Friend-Me Concept from this year's Shanghai Auto Show. Where GM and VW used their Shanghai-based studios as more consultancies than anything else, though, Nissan is aiming to have the Beijing studio design a global car.
According to Nissan's global design head, Shiro Nakamura, that's already happening. Nakamura told Reuters that Nissan is two years from launching a Chinese-designed global model that will see sales in both North America and Europe, in addition to its home market. While Nakamura wouldn't elaborate on what the new model's styling would entail, there's a focus on what the Chinese call daqi.
