This is my 1984 Nissan Sentra 5-speed, made to look like an '82 Sentra. Why you ask? My dad bought this identical car in '82 and as a boy he promised it to me, and I never got it. He just left it in JFK when the starter went out and he didn't realize it's only 2 bolts to replace. So I went out and found one and restored it to the exact way I remember it being. This car started it's life out brown and now is yellow as they came from the factory. It was restored approximately 3 years ago using base/clear. It has no dents whatsoever and shines great. It sports 1982 bumpers, headlights and taillights. It's an Arizona car (no rust) that I drove to CT with absolutely no problems. It has a new rug and the seats have all been restitched except for the front driver seat, which was restitched with Toyota fabric as the correct Nissan pattern was no longer available. CAR HAS BRAND NEW TIRES, CLUTCH, clutch cable, timing belt, water pump, fuel pump, front struts, rear shocks, axles, windshield, alternator, starter, distributor, distributor wires and plugs, freeze out plugs, rebuilt carburetor, all belts and hoses, transmission switches, and all new Nissan motor and transmission mounts. There is nothing mechanically wrong with this car. It runs excellent and looks like a 5 year old car rather then a 30 year old car. I get plenty of compliments when I take her out. She has never seen snow and hardly any rain. As a boy I loved this car and I have several fond memories of her, but as my family is growing and I currently own 7 cars (that's a fact), one has to go. Please remember you are more than welcome to come see her and look her over. She is located in CT and my phone number is (860) 949-2224. She is being sold as is, where is, with no warranty whatsoever. Please feel free and come take her for a drive, you will not be disappointed. I have tried my best to describe her, and if you win the bid, you and your mechanic can clearly see all the new parts she has. As far as gas mileage, the economy hasn't affected her great gas mileage. The car also comes with an original brochure and some literature, and a framed 1982 ad. I hope this car will go to somebody who can appreciate her as much as I have, not drag race or lower her. She is a non-power steering car but has AC that may need a charge, but works. This car does have a reserve, it will not be sold for $1500. The mileage is low to the point that some say she is just broken in, and I do change the oil every 2500 miles.
On Oct-29-13 at 06:34:17 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention she has had a brand new valve adjustment, valve cover gasket, tie rod ends, ball joints, a few bushings in the front end, brake master cylinder. I'm sure there's more that I can't remember. I've had a few emails asking what my reserve is; my bottom line on this car is $6000. The body work and paint alone was $4000. So, if you were to buy a brand new car, let's say you pay $24,000 for a gas sipper, you will only pay one fourth of the price. Clear Arizona title in hand and passed AZ emissions. If I register in CT because of it's age it does not have to go through emissions. That's not to say that I have a Buy it Now price of $6000, but if she goes up, I'm going to let it go as high as it can, but won't let it go for under $6000. I hope that answers the emails. |

Nissan poaches Ram CEO Fred Diaz
Sat, 13 Apr 2013Nissan has announced that it has hired Fred Diaz as its new divisional vice president of sales and marketing. With the appointment, Diaz unexpected exits his post as president and CEO of Chrysler's Ram brand, a position he has held since 2009 when the brand was created as a separate entity from Dodge. He was also president and CEO of Chrysler de Mexico.
Nissan issued a press released - posted below - in which it says that Diaz's newly formed position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the brand in the US, including such facets as sales, marketing, parts and service, along with administrative matters. In addition, he will lead Nissan's light commercial vehicle and fleet division, likely a key attraction with his Ram background.
Chrysler has yet to name a replacement for Diaz.
Ever wonder how to really pronounce Japanese automaker names?
Thu, 25 Sep 2014People tend to get very set in their ways when it comes to the pronunciation of words. Just look at the endless debates over whether or not to say the final 'e' in Porsche (which you should in terms of correct German enunciation). Or the argument about whether to follow the British convention and give the 'u' in Jaguar a special delivery or to say the 'ua' diphthong as more of a 'w' sound, as usually happens in the US.
This short video doesn't answer either of those automotive questions, but it does allow a native Japanese speaker to demonstrate the accepted pronunciations for several, major automakers from the country. One benefit is that it clears up the occasional debate over whether Nissan should be said with a long or short 'i' sound. Also, listen closely to how the female host says Mazda as Matsuda, the way it's actually said in the language. Even if this doesn't change the way you enunciate these brands, at least now you know the accurate way in Japanese.
NA auto output to reach 11-year peak
Thu, 13 Jun 2013According to Automotive News, automakers are expected to manufacture 16 million light vehicles in North America in 2013. That's up 500,000 units from last year and marks the largest number since 2002. The prediction comes courtesy of LMC Automotive and IHS Automotive, which point to the improving US economy as a bellwether for total production. LMC Automotive says North America will produce 16 million vehicles while IHS has a slightly more optimistic forecast of 16.1 million units. A total of seven automakers are slated to increase production on the continent this year. Nissan is set to see the largest jump at 20 percent over last year.
Volkswagen, meanwhile, is one of the only manufacturers predicted to scale back production. Analysts expect the German company's output to fall by 23 percent to 170,000 units, thanks in part to slow demand for the Volkswagen Passat and Jetta.
