It is the small touches that count. Rear privacy glass, sleek roof rails, available 20 inch aluminum-alloy wheels, and bi-functional xenon headlights on LE models were all added to enhance Murano's distinctive style and breakthrough design. Murano's vehicle structure was specifically built to eliminate noise and vibration, and the well-sealed body gaps and aerodynamic styling reduce wind noise. With the Murano, first class comes standard. The interior features optional heated steering wheel, which warms your hands for comfort and better mobility. Available heated front seats and other unexpected upscale touches offer you and your passengers ultimate comfort and style. The Murano allows front occupants to set their own microclimate with the Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control. The 3.5-L V6 delivers 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque to pull ahead of those who would be left behind. Great fuel economy of 24 mpg on the highway means youll be touring for up to 475 miles before needing a fill-up. The Muranos power steering system adjusts sensitivity according to the speed you are traveling. By becoming more nimble at slower speeds, both parking and reversing are made easier. Further customize your driving experience with choice of either front-wheel drive, or an intuitive all-wheel drive system. Nissan is serious about safety and the Murano is no exception. The Nissan Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) includes dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt sensors and an occupant-classification sensor. Also, roof-mounted curtain supplemental air bags help protect you in the event of a side impact or rollover. The Murano LATCH system lets you secure LATCH-compatible child restraints in the second row without having to use seat belts or a locking clip. Experience Murano, Nissans most refined crossover. Semi-autonomous Nissan Leaf certified for road use in Japan [w/video]

Sat, 28 Sep 2013

In order to meet its goal of having an autonomous car in production by 2020, Nissan is going to have be able to test its technology in real-world driving conditions. For this, the automaker has just received a license plate to legally test its semi-autonomous driver assist systems in Japan, marking the first time such technologies have been tested on that country's roads. Not ironically, the license plate number is 2020.
Though not fully autonomous, this Leaf prototype will test various components of a self-driving car including exiting the highway, the ability to stay in its lane and change lanes when needed, stopping at red lights and overtaking stopped or slow traffic. Nissan is also in the process of building a proving ground in Oppama, Japan dedicated solely to autonomous cars, but the ability to test on public roads will obviously play a crucial role in the development of these cars. Scroll down for a short video and press release Nissan posted to mark the occasion.

Infiniti's new Design Director is American Alfonso Albaisa

Fri, 10 May 2013

The man responsible for creating the sleek 2010 Nissan Ellure Concept you see above is now the design director for Infiniti. Alfonso Albaisa (shown at right) has been a member of the Nissan design team for 25 years, but was recently promoted to executive design director for the Infiniti brand.
His past roles at Nissan have included design director for Nissan from 2004 to 2007, vice president of Nissan Design Europe from 2007 to 2011, vice president of Nissan Design America in 2011 and, most recently, he held the title of Nissan's global design director. Aside from Ellure, Albaisa was also responsible for designing the 2012 Nissan Xtrem Concept, "key strategic production vehicles soon to be launched" and he's even contributed to a handful of Infiniti designs. Mercedes was set to sell version of Nissan Titan, now Infiniti might instead

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

Mercedes-Benz Titan. Mercedes-Benz Frontier. Mercedes-Benz pickup truck. None of these things roll off the tongue particularly well. We'd like to think that's the reason Daimler opted to kill the idea of rebadged Titan and Frontier pickups from corporate ally Nissan. In reality, the execution before the Frankfurt Motor Show was due to more complicated issues.
Yes, Mercedes, byword for German luxury, style and quality, would have slapped a three-pointed star on a pair of Japanese pickup trucks that have failed to resonate with consumers in the world's largest truck market. That slapping of badges isn't much of an exaggeration, at least on the outside. According to the report from Road & Track, the truck's front clip would have been tweaked, but beyond that, the sheetmetal would have been unchanged. The interior would have received a more thorough going-over by the team at Mercedes, while the suspension and noise, vibration and harshness tuning would have also received significant attention.
The trucks would have ended up being sold through the light-commercial branch of Mercedes-Benz - the same folks that will happily sell you a Sprinter van - had the deal gone through. Issues arose, though, first with the engines. Mercedes wanted a wider range of powertrains to allow it to tune models for specific markets, while Nissan said it couldn't engineer the wide variety of engines that MB wanted to drop under the hood. For the smaller truck, meanwhile, MB was interested in a hybrid or plug-in variant, according to R&T, although this was also shot down by Nissan.
