For sale is a two-owner 2002 Nissan Maxima GLE with approximately 135,350 miles. The Maxima has been garage kept and dealer maintained for its entire life. It has just gone through a 27 point inspection at a local Nissan dealership where a Lube/Oil/Filter change was also completed. The Maxima is in pretty good condition for a vehicle of its age. There is some minor rust starting to form around the right rear wheel well and there is some clear coat peeling on the rear spoiler. Otherwise there are some scratches and dings here and there which are shown in the photos below. The interior is in good condition showing only some cracking leather on the driver's seat. The interior is a little dirty in the photos, but has been cleaned since. Mechanically the Maxima is in great condition. The engine pulls strong, the transmission shifts smoothly, and the steering is tight. The two front Michelin Primacy tires are showing approximately 6/32" of tread remaining and the two rear Goodyear Assurance tires are also showing approximately 6/32" of tread remaining. NADA retail value is over $6,000! The Maxima is a used vehicle and is being sold AS-IS and AS-Shown. I am listing this vehicle for a friend and will be happy to refer all questions to him. Datsun previews new budget sedan for Russia [w/video]
Thu, 13 Mar 2014Nobody does cars on the cheap quite like the Renault-Nissan Alliance. The former part of the equation already has its Dacia brand of cost-effective, no-frills vehicles that have become a favorite of Top Gear co-host James May, and last summer, the latter revived its Datsun nameplate for a budget brand of its own.
The reborn Datsun launched in India this past July with its Go hatchback, returned in September with the Go+ minivan and revealed the Redi-Go concept just last month. And now it's given us our first look at an upcoming budget sedan developed specifically for the Russian market.
The as-yet unnamed vehicle (which we'll bet will incorporate the word "go" into its nameplate somehow) is set to debut on April 4, where it will launch the Datsun brand in Russia. Few details are available at this point, but the low-cost sedan was designed in Japan to offer Russian drivers "an engaging driving experience, peace of mind ownership and accessibility at the right and transparent price, with a competitive Total Cost of Ownership."
Nissan's Ghosn called out by Deltawing's Panoz in print ad
Wed, 25 Jun 2014When the Nissan ZEOD RC limped to the side of the Circuit de la Sarthe a mere five laps into this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, we imagine that a certain American motorsports figure at least smirked a little. Don Panoz's ongoing feud with Nissan probably means he wasn't sorry to see the arrow-shaped racecar's poor showing, and now he's stepping up his campaign against his former racing partner.
For those who need a refresher, back in 2012, Panoz and Nissan teamed up to field the DeltaWing, an innovative, wedge-shaped racer, as the first entry in the 24 Hours of Le Mans' experimental Garage 56 concept. The car rapidly became a fan favorite. The Panoz/Nissan alliance didn't last, though, and before long, the DeltaWing's designer was getting a paycheck from Nissan and the ZEOD RC racer arrived. Shortly after that, Panoz began mulling over a lawsuit alleging intellectual property infringement. The American motorsports icon would eventually pull the trigger on a suit back in December of 2013.
Panoz's latest move in the ongoing feud involves an open letter in both The Nashville Tennessean, the paper that serves Nissan's US headquarters, and trade paper Automotive News. The letter calls out Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn directly, and points out some of the similarities between the DeltaWing and the ZEOD RC, going so far as to quote the original car's designer, Ben Bowlby.
Nissan Pathfinder, Infiniti JX in transmission safety probe
Thu, 05 Sep 2013Nissan may be forced to recall 110,000 Pathfinder and Infiniti JX35 crossovers, due to a number of customer complaints. Consumers report suddenly losing power, with repair facilities blaming the issue on faulty transmission cooler line connections. Both the Pathfinder and JX35 use a continuously variable transmission. As of right now, the only vehicles being investigated are from model year 2013.
Nissan has been cooperating with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to a report from Reuters, and it has developed a fix for the affected vehicles. It's not clear whether this will develop into a full-blown recall, as there have been no known cases of injuries or crashes. But with a potential 110,000 vehicles prone to sudden power loss, a recall seems to be a likely outcome.
