No gas, ever. The 100% electric Nissan LEAF motor is powered exclusively by an advanced lithium-ion battery that you can charge at home, or on-the-go. Meanwhile, hybrids have to carry around their electric drivetrains plus their gas-engines. The average American drives less than 33 miles a day and with an average range of 84 miles on a single charge, the Nissan LEAF takes you 2 1/2 times that distance on a single charge. Its as simple as just plugging it in. Charge at home, at the office, or on the expanding national charging infrastructure. The Regenerative Braking System captures energy while you coast or brake, and recycles it back to the power supply. The exterior is built to be as efficient as possible. A flat, aerodynamic underbody and rear diffuser enhance performance by allowing air to flow smoothly underneath the Nissan LEAF. While the aerodynamic rear spoiler helps reduce turbulence and drag while providing a sporty appearance. The aerodynamic halogen headlights are specially designed to redirect airflow away from the side mirrors, helping to reduce wind noise and drag. The Nissan LEAF comes standard with heated front and rear passenger seats and heated steering wheel, allowing you to keep warm in a more energy efficient way than using the HVAC alone. Roll with four friends, or fold down the 60/40-split rear seat for a bigger cargo area, and enough room for longer items. Stay connected and communicate with your Nissan LEAF remotely through your computer or smartphone. The LEAF offers a host of safety features such as the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System, Anti-Lock Braking System and a standard rear-view camera. Also, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System alerts you when the pressure is too low in one of your tires. Say hello to freedom from the pump with the Nissan LEAF. ****KINGS NISSAN INTERNET SPECIAL'S**** CALL TOLL FREE 888-454-8431 TO RECEIVE ADDITIONAL SAVINGS PLUS LIFETIME FREE CAR WASHES. Nissan e-NV200 EV charges into Tokyo
Fri, 22 Nov 2013Nissan has already shown its e-NV200 in Detroit and Frankfurt in conceptual form, now its home market is getting an up-close look at the production all-electric compact van at the Tokyo Motor Show. While it doesn't sound like the e-NV200 will be making its way to the US anytime soon, it will go on sale on sale in Europe in the middle of next year and in Japan by early 2015.
The electric NV200 will be built in Barcelona, Spain, and while that EV-minded city has committed to using the van for public transportation, Nissan's hometown of Yokohama, Japan will also put the zero-emission vehicle to work in its public services fleet. Nissan has yet to reveal the production specs for the e-NV200 - including range - we do know that it will share much of its drivetrain with smaller Nissan Leaf. Check out the press release posted below for more information about the e-NV200 and Nissan's EV efforts in Yokohama.
Can a car be lifted using rubber bands?
Sat, 19 Jan 2013It's quite amazing what it takes to lift a car. We already know the feat can be accomplished using just a pair of phone books, but what about rubber bands? To the Internet! A video series appropriately titled "Will It Lift" attempted to find out by using a massive crane and a Nissan Micra weighing less than 1,800 pounds.
Doing a little math, the trio determined that it would take 180 rubber bands to support the car. A metal bar was placed through the window openings and another was place atop the car, and then attached together using the rubber bands and hooked to the crane. Now these aren't any special rubber bands or anything. They're just eight-millimeters thick, but the stunt is testing the rubber bands' power in numbers.
We're not going to spoil it for you, so scroll down to check out the video of the stunt.
Five automakers now being investigated by NHTSA for airbag woes
Thu, 12 Jun 2014It appears that Toyota's renotification to owners of recalled vehicles from last year is just the tip of the iceberg for what could potentially be a much larger industry-wide recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation investigation into roughly 1.1 million vehicles from Chrysler, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota and parts supplier Takata regarding faulty airbag inflators in several models.
NHTSA has received six reports - three directly, two from Takata and one from Toyota - of vehicles with ruptured airbag inflators from 2002-2006, which resulted in three injuries. So far, all six incidents have occurred in high humidity areas like Florida and Puerto Rico. According to Toyota's latest recall announcement, the inflators may have an improper propellant that could cause it to rupture in a crash and the bag to deploy abnormally.
This new investigation follows a previous recall from April 2013 of about 3.4 million vehicles worldwide for the airbag inflators from Takata. As Autoblog reported, Toyota jumpstarted the new situation when it found that the original list of serial numbers for the faulty part was incomplete and discovered more cars in need of replacement. Honda and Nissan told us that they were investigating whether further models would need called in again as well. Mazda told Autoblog: "Regarding the current Takata situation, we're working closely with NHTSA and investigating the situation, but nothing else to report at this time." Chrysler Group responded to us with the statement: "Chrysler Group engineers are conducting the appropriate analysis. The Company will cooperate fully with the National Highway Traffic Administration."
