I have decided to put my 2001 Nissan Frontier up for sale. I have several vehicles and I need to thin down a little. I am the second owner of the vehicle.
This is a super nice truck.  It has 193,796 miles on it at the time I listed it but will change as I am still driving it.  Don't let the milage scare you, these things are built tough and this one has obviously been cared for. It is loaded with all the options. V-6, Automatic, Power everything, Tow pkg, 4 Wheel Drive that works great, cruise control, and A/C that is ice cold. Tires have about 60% tread left. Truck comes with a premium sound system. JVC receiver with Polk speakers in each door. It is Ipod ready!

The vehicle's interior is super clean and smoke free.  There is a couple of small tears in the sun-visor. It comes with the original floor mats as well as a set of all-weather rubber mats.  Underneath of the truck is super clean also as well as being 99% rust free.  Only rust on the truck is a small area on the bottom left of the rear bumper as seen in the pictures.   (Slide in hitch pictured - Not included in sale)

I also have two tops for the truck. Currently on the truck is an ARE camper top with custom matching roof rack and new lift supports.  I have two keys for it.
Clearcoat on the top is a little rough, but otherwise looks great! It is carpeted on the inside and has roll out windows.
The front window in the camper top leaks a little when it rains and could use some silicone.
I also have a locking ARE Tonneau cover that looks great. Paint on it is near perfect. It also has keys to lock it up.
That's over $3000 for just both tops alone I have invested for this truck.
Also included in the sale is the factory flip out bed extender (not pictured).  Does not fit with camper top mounted.

I just recently replaced the valve cover gaskets because one had a small leak.  It occasionally drips a drop or two of oil when parked - not bad though (oil pan gasket I believe).  The brakes were replaced in the fall - ever since the ABS light comes on from time to time.  I was told it was a dirty or faulty sensor.  ABS functions just fine though.   There is a small wear spot on the edge of the driver's seat. Other than that, I know of nothing else wrong with the vehicle aside from a few rock chips and dings hear and there.  Nothing you wouldn't expect out of a used vehicle.  One spot in paint is worn where camper top lid rests on the tailgate. Don't expect perfect paint but overall truck looks awesome & drives great!  I would trust it to go anywhere!
Truck has a clean car fax - Accident free - Clear title in hand.

Shipping or pickup is full responsibility of buyer.  I feel I have accurately described this truck, therefore vehicle is sold as/is.  Feel free to come check it out before bidding.  A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of auction end.  Remaining balance is to be paid in full at time of pickup.  Cash or certified check.  I will hold the vehicle for 14 days unless other arrangements are made.  Please do not bid if you cannot pay!

Vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction early.  Thanks for looking and good luck!

Lawyer for Ghosn slams bail condition as human rights violation

Sun, Jun 2 2019

TOKYO (AP) — The lawyer for Nissan's former chairman Carlos Ghosn on Saturday criticized a bail condition that prevents his client from seeing his wife, as Ghosn awaits trial on financial misconduct charges. A judge has forbidden Ghosn from seeing his wife, Carole, including in the presence of lawyers, or talking to her on the phone. Prosecutors say the restriction is needed to prevent evidence tampering. "This is unfair," Takashi Takano, the lawyer, said in a phone interview, calling it a human rights violation. "It's cruel and unusual." His earlier appeal of the ban, rejected by district and appeals courts, went to the Supreme Court, which turned it down last month. The Supreme Court decision cannot be appealed, but Takano vowed to keep filing new petitions, stressing that the Supreme Court has not yet ruled on the constitutionality or the human rights aspects. The next one will be filed within two or three weeks, he said. Ghosn's lawyers recently filed a second petition with the U.N. Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, arguing that the restrictions on seeing his wife amount to a deprivation of fundamental human rights. Takano acknowledged that the situation looks dismal, as Japan's Supreme Court is not easily influenced by other governments' views or by public opinion. "Even the strongest man in the world can be stressed, psychologically damaged. That's very natural as a human being," said Takano, noting that Ghosn was holding up well compared to other clients he has had. Ghosn has been aggressively taking part in meetings with his defense team, according to Takano. The case has entered the stage known as "pre-trial sessions," during which both sides hand in evidence. A trial date has not been set. In Japan, preparations for trials routinely take months. Ghosn, who led Japanese automaker Nissan Motor Co. for two decades, was arrested in November and charged with falsifying financial documents in reporting retirement compensation, and with breach of trust in diverting Nissan money toward personal investment losses and a company effectively run by him. Ghosn, 65, a Brazilian-born Frenchman of Lebanese ancestry, has repeatedly said he is innocent, accusing some at Nissan of plotting against him and opposing a plan to merge Nissan with French alliance partner Renault. Renault is set to vote Tuesday on a possible merger with Fiat Chrysler.

Car technology I'm thankful and unthankful for

Mon, Nov 27 2017

The past few years have seen a surge of tech features in new vehicles — everything from cloud-based content to semi-autonomous driving. While some of it makes the driving experience better, not all tech is useful or well thought out. Automakers who are adept at drivetrains, ride quality and in-cabin comforts often fail at infotainment interfaces and connectivity. From testing dozens of vehicles each year and in the spirit of gratitude, here are three car tech features I'm thankful — and a trio I could live without. Thanks Connected search: This seems like a no-brainer since everyone already has it on their smartphones, but not all automakers include it in the dashboard and as part of their nav systems. The best ones, such as Toyota Entune, leverage a driver's connected device to search for a range of services and don't charge a subscription or require a separate data plan for the car. I also like how systems like Chrysler Uconnect use Yelp or other apps to find everything from coffee to gas stations and allow searching via voice recognition. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: It took two of the largest tech companies to get in-dash infotainment right. While they have their disadvantages (you're forced to use Apple Maps with CarPlay, for example), the two smartphone-integration platforms make it easier and safer to use their respective native apps for phoning, messaging, music and more behind the wheel by transferring a familiar UI to the dashboard — with no subscription required. Heated seats and steering wheels: I really appreciate these simple but pleasant features come wintertime. It's easy to get spoiled by bun-warmers on frosty mornings and using a heated steering wheel to warm the cold hands. I recently tested a 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe that also had heated armrest that added to a cozy luxury experience. Bonus points for brands like Buick that allow setting seat heaters to turn on when the engine is remotely started. No thanks Automaker infotainment systems: Automakers have probably poured millions into creating their own infotainment systems, with the result largely being frustration on the part of most car owners. And Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming along to make them obsolete. While some automaker systems, such as Toyota Entune and FCA's Uconnect, are easy and intuitive to use, it seems that high-end systems (I'm looking at you BMW iDrive and Mercedes-Benz COMAND) are the most difficult.

The Scoot Quad is Nissan's small step toward EV car sharing

Thu, Dec 24 2015

Halfway up Laguna Street, the panic set in. I might not make it up this hill. With my foot depressed all the way to the floor, I sucked in my stomach and started to pray. Yet again, I found myself in an unconventional way to get around on four wheels – but this time, I was on my own, and behind the wheel. Meet the Scoot Quad, aka Nissan New Mobility Concept, aka Renault Twizy. The many aliases reflect the path of descent from its development as a quirky French electric vehicle to its proliferation as a model for car sharing. The Quad resides in San Francisco as part of the Scoot fleet of shared electric vehicles and it's most certainly not for sale. As the line blurs between those who share cars for personal reasons and those who use them for business purposes, Scoot and Nissan came to an agreement in which a small number of New Mobility Concepts would join the Scoot fleet – which currently includes over 300 motorbikes. The added value of Scoot is the capacity for one-way rentals around the city, as well as a dedicated network of charging stations. "We think it's just the best way to get around the city for everyone," said Scoot fleet vice president Mike Waltman, explaining how 10 New Mobility Concepts made their way to San Francisco. Charging time is about four hours on a Level Two charger, made possible through Scoot's network of stations around the city. The one-plus-one Twizy has been in production since 2012 and on sale in certain overseas markets, but it's entirely new for the United States, and it wears the Nissan badge here – kind of. No major changes were made to the Twizy when it became the New Mobility Concept, and similarly none were made in its "transformation" to the Quad. It sports the same insectile shape and the rear profile of a top hat, as well as an identical powertrain: a 13-kilowatt motor that produces 17 horsepower, routed to the rear wheels through a single-speed automatic transmission. Charging time is about four hours on a Level Two charger, made possible through Scoot's network of stations around the city. Its top speed is 50 miles per hour, but Nissan installed a governor at 25 mph to conform to US low-speed vehicle requirements. New Scoot members are required to successfully pass an exam before beginning to use the service, so that was my first order of business. After spending about 35 minutes going through a series of informational videos on the Scoot app, as any new member would do, I was ready to ride Scoot motorcycles.
