2014 Rogue kicks off production as 10,000,000th Nissan built in Tennessee

News comes across our desks all the time of one manufacturer marking some milestone or another. But Nissan has just announced a double-whammy: Not only has Nissan's assembly plant in Smyrna, TN, just built its ten-millionth vehicle, but that ten-millionth vehicle just so happened to be the first Nissan Rogue to be built in the United States.
The milestone arrives after over three decades of production that has included such nameplates as the Sentra, Altima, Maxima, Leaf, Pathfinder, Infiniti QX60, Xterra, Frontier, and now the Rogue. The latter crossover has swelled into Nissan's second best-selling vehicle, with demand growing by nearly 50 percent from 2010 to 2012. Now redesigned for 2014 and built locally, Nissan is evidently banking on demand continuing to rise.

Nissan exec talks about smaller Leaf, and maybe a CUV EV as well

The Renault Zoe is a popular electric vehicle in Europe, and it gives buyers on the continent a zero-emissions option that's smaller than the Nissan Leaf. Here in the US, Nissan only offers its one all-electric passenger vehicle, but the company might be taking a page from its corporate partner to offer a smaller Leaf in the near future. According to Gareth Dunsmore, Nissan EV European head, Nissan is thinking about both a smaller EV based on the Zoe and larger, all-electric SUV/CUV. "We've invested $5.4 billion in electric cars such as the Leaf, so we need to ensure we're satisfying as many types of customer as possible," he said. "In Europe, that could mean looking towards B-segment hatches and SUVs or crossovers," according to Auto Express. "If we look towards crossovers or the B-segment for the next car, those could make perfect sense." As for what we actually know about the next-gen Leaf, details are scarce. We did get confirmation that a 200-mile range update is in the works, but information on timing and other details are still something we're waiting for. Ken Block's Gymkhana 8 to feature Dubai Police cars?

Yesterday we showed you the shiny Ford Fiesta that Ken Block will slide, spin, and hoon through the next Gymkhana video. In case the image above isn't clear, that video will drop at midnight EST on February 30th on the Ford Performance YouTube channel. We don't know all the entire premise of the video yet, but this Tweet from the man himself reveals that the video will be set in Dubai. Block is standing on the Fiesta we saw yesterday, and arrayed behind him are a handful of those famous Dubai Police cars you're probably familiar with. The force has a fleet of sportscars and supercars, and the purpose is outreach and goodwill among its citizenry, not necessarily the pursuit of criminals. This content is hosted by a third party.
