A great yet practical classic, one of only 5148 ever produced for the US market, this NIssan 300ZX Turbo has been great for both fun commutes to work and fun weekends at community classic car shows across South Carolina. The 50th Anniversary emblems make it a real head turner. Packed with every conceivable factory fitted extra of the time the anniversary edition came fully loaded; cruise control, electric windows, remote adjustable mirrors, electronic adjustable shocks, bodysonic speakers in the seats, compass display, digital dash, 16 inch alloys, leather seats embroidered with anniversary logo in gold, heated rear window, AC and climate control. The mirrored t-top roof panels are easily removed and stowed in their original pouches in the spacious trunk while still leaving plenty of room for luggage and golf clubs.  Regularly and scrupulously maintained, it sounds great, looks great and it's fast! Has never failed to start the first time, every time. Everything works perfectly (well, the original cassette radio needs attention...). Only 2 owners and in the same ownership for the past 25 years. Garaged every night, under dust cover. One or two very minor scrapes and dints and a chipped front indicator lens mean this car is not perfect, but it ain't far off.

Nissan poaches Ram CEO Fred Diaz

Sat, 13 Apr 2013

Nissan has announced that it has hired Fred Diaz as its new divisional vice president of sales and marketing. With the appointment, Diaz unexpected exits his post as president and CEO of Chrysler's Ram brand, a position he has held since 2009 when the brand was created as a separate entity from Dodge. He was also president and CEO of Chrysler de Mexico.
Nissan issued a press released - posted below - in which it says that Diaz's newly formed position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the brand in the US, including such facets as sales, marketing, parts and service, along with administrative matters. In addition, he will lead Nissan's light commercial vehicle and fleet division, likely a key attraction with his Ram background.
Chrysler has yet to name a replacement for Diaz.

Nissan Altima takes first V8 Supercars win

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

The V8 Supercars championship used to be strictly a contest between Holden and Ford. But just as BMW crashed the Audi and Mercedes party in DTM, so has Nissan (and for that matter, Mercedes) pushed past the door into Australia's popular touring car series. And like BMW, Nissan hasn't waited long before notching its first victory.
Nissan claimed the checkered flag this weekend in the first of three races at Winton, the ninth stop on the calendar. And what a spectacular win it was: not only did Nissan take the checkered flag, they finished one-two. James Moffat drove his Altima to the finish line just ahead of teammate Michael Caruso. It was Caruso who lead the first half of the race after qualifying just behind defending champion (and current points leader) Jamie Whincup, who suffered a gearbox malfunction and retired on only the ninth lap.
Of course that's just one race out of 27 so far and 37 scheduled this season, so that won't be elevating Nissan or any of its drivers to the lead the same way that BMW did upon its return last season to DTM, but it's a good start and a cause to celebrate for Nissan. Mark Winterbottom (Ford) and James Courtney (Holden) won the following two rounds at Winton as Jamie Whincup (Holden) leads Will Davison (Ford) in the standings.

Nissan New Micra being considered for Canadian market

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

A new story from AutoGuide is triggering new speculation that Nissan may be about to bring its New Micra to North America. According to a dealer-based source, Nissan is showing off the overseas hatchback at Canadian dealer meetings along with the redesigned 2014 Rogue. The report indicates that the car is expected to go on sale sometime mid next year. Autoblog has learned that, while the New Micra is indeed under study for the Canadian market, it is not being considered for US sales. Our well-placed source tells us that bringing the New Micra to US dealers "just wouldn't make sense."
Bringing the New Micra to US dealers "just wouldn't make sense."
Reading between the lines a bit, that's because Nissan already has a robust small car lineup spearheaded by the Versa sedan and new Versa Note hatchback, along with the compact Sentra. And while both Versa models are generously sized for the subcompact classes they compete in, their low entry price (the sedan starts under $12k) means that pricing the smaller Micra underneath it would be difficult. Given its historically significantly higher fuel prices (not to mention higher vehicle prices and a penchant for small cars), Canada seems like a much more hospitable market for the Micra.
