This car has an all JL Audio sound system including an Alpine CDA-9855 head unit (with remote control), a pair of XR650-CSi speakers in the front doors, a pair of XR650CXi in the rear, and a set of JL tweeters. It also has a Stealth Box subwoofer with a 500/5 amp powering the whole system mounted inside a custom enclosre in the spare tire well. It includes a powered IPOD connection in the center console (IPOD NOT INCLUDED). The car has DYNAMAT installed throughout as well as upgraded speaker wiring. The cost of this installation was well over $5000.
A VIPER 2-way Responder security system has been installed. The display on the remote confirms all commands - virtually instantly - with easy to understand icons and text. It has a second regular remote as well.
Used as a weekend driver, this 300ZX has been driven an average of 3,130 miles per year since it was brought home from dealer in 1991.
Stored in a garage covered, this Z looks just as good as it did the first day! All trim, moldings and details are in factory condition. All body panels are original, and the original white paint is in great condition. All of the glass, lenses, lamps and bezels are original, and in new condition. The rock guard below the trim line has been repainted due to a yellowing discoloration. The car windows have been tinted to protect the interior.
All four original 16" aluminum alloy wheels with no road rash.
The engine compartment is 100% original except for the battery. The car comes with the original spare tire, jack & tool set, and headlight aiming kit. The spare tire and headlight aiming kit were removed to allow for a stealth stereo installation.
The charcoal leather interior is absolutely stunning, with no rips or tears. The seats, door panels, carpeting and dash are all in perfect condition. The car also includes 2 sets of floor mats! One is the set of 4 original OEM Nissan floor mats with Z logo as well as 4 brand new OEM in the box floor mats. The car cover is in great condition (interior use only). It is a Evolution 4 (technalon material) purchased from Covercraft and includes a storage bag and lock.
In short, this is an extremely desirable, investment grade collector quality 300ZX and it speaks for itself. As you may know, finding a low mileage unmolested 300ZX is getting harder with each passing year, and the generation that loves these cars would identify this Z as a perfect piece for their collection. This is a fine example of an early unmodified 90s 300Z car, with all the right stuff.
Please note that there is a blemish on the left quarter panel in front of the fuel filler door that has been touched up with Nissan touch up paint as well as a slight indentation behind the drivers door. Both are quite small and almost unnoticeable. The car was also involved in a minor accident in which it spun out on gravel into curbing damaging the left rear wheel. The wheel was reconditioned and the lower suspension arm was replaced. None of the body trim was affected, and we have pictures of the vehicle prior to being repaired. Also, the timing belt has been replaced twice, but is recommended for another replacement due to age (not mileage). Despite this you will not be disappointed for a car that is 23 years old.

Nissan to pursue FWD Nurburgring lap record with Pulsar Nismo

Europeans get very serious about their hot hatches. So do the Japanese. In fact there's been a whole back-and-forth lately over who makes the fastest one, and now Nissan looks set to throw its racing hat into the 'Ring.
That would be the Nürburgring, of course, where automakers trade bragging rights like baseball cards - only they don't give them up willingly. Renault set the front-drive lap record in 2008 with the previous Mégane R26.R then set the bar even higher with the Mégane RS 265 Trophy. That was before Seat stole the honors with its Leon Cupra 280, only for Renault to take them back again with the Mégane RS 275 Trophy-R. Seat is rumored to be considering a renewed assault, but it won't be the only one nipping at Renaultsport's heels in the coming years.
Honda, for its part, has made no secret of its ambition to set the record with the upcoming Civic Type R, and now word has it that Nissan is planning an assault of its own. Its weapon of choice would be an upcoming Nismo version of the new Pulsar hatchback which is just hitting the European market now as a rival to the Ford Focus, Volkswagen Golf, et al. There's no word on what its specs would be, but if it's going to challenge these players, it's going to need between 270 and 300 horsepower, a stiff suspension, big brakes and probably some sort of trick differential.

Nissan Leaf becomes least expensive 5-seat EV with massive price drop

In a roundtable interview today at the North American International Auto Show, Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn announced a $6,400 price drop for the base-model 2013 Nissan Leaf. Last year's base model was $35,200, while the new base-level 2013 Leaf S starts at $28,800. Ghosn says the new prices make the Leaf the least expensive five-seater electric for sale in the US.
Some of the lower cost is due to a difference in content from last year's low-end model to this year's. But a sizable portion can be chalked up to the Leaf's production moving from Japan to Tennessee. The 2013 Leaf is not only assembled in the US now, but its lithium-ion batteries and the car's electric motors are manufactured in the same southern state.
The Leaf SV will be priced from $31,820 for 2013 compared to $35,200 last year. The high-end Leaf SL now starts at $34,840, down from the 2012 model's $37,250. These models also have differences in content. One big one is a new 6.6-kWh charger that reduces charging times pretty dramatically.

Detroit 3 to implement delayed unified towing standards for 2015

Car buyers have a responsibility to be well-informed consumers. That's not always a very simple task, but some guidelines are self-evident. If you live in a very snowy climate, you generally know a Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro might not be as viable a vehicle choice as an all-wheel drive Explorer or Traverse, for example. If you want a fuel-efficient car, it's generally a good idea to know the difference between a diesel and a hybrid. But what if it's kind of tough to be an informed consumer? What if the information you need is more difficult to come by, or worse, based on different standards for each vehicle? Well, in that case, you might be a truck shopper.
For years, customers of light-duty pickups have had to suffer through different ratings of towing capacities for each brand. For 2015 model year trucks, though, that will no longer be a problem. According to Automotive News, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler Group have announced that starting with next year's models, a common standard will be used to measure towing capacity. The Detroit Three will join Toyota, which adopted the Society of Automotive Engineers' so-called SAE J2807 standards way back in 2011.
The standard was originally supposed to be in place for MY2013, but concerns that it would lower the overall stated capacity for trucks led Detroit automakers to pass. Ford originally passed, claiming it'd wait until its new F-150 was launched to adopt the new standards, leading GM and Ram to follow suit. Nissan, meanwhile, has said it will adopt the new standards as its vehicles are updated, meaning the company's next-generation Titan should adhere to the same tow ratings as its competitors.
