I am the second owner of this car, the first owner unfortunately died! He lost out on a great car! ;( It was originally purchased and stored in Santa Clara, CA. When I purchased the vehicle, it had not been driven in 10 years. I have the full CarFax report with the maintenance records and mileage documentation.

I have put a lot of work into restoring this beauty, here is a list of what has been done:

Engine/Drive Train/Suspension:

Battery
Timing Belt
Water Pump

Fan Clutch
Thermostat
All Belts & Hoses
Radiator Flush
Power Steering Flush
Spark Plugs
Spark Plug Wires
Air Filter
Tires
Brake Pads
Shocks
Bushings

Interior/Electrical/Cosmetic:

Headliner
Rear Hatch Carpet
Rear Hatch Support Struts
Rear Hatch Weather Seal
Headlights
Front Windshield Wipers
Kenwood Radio/MP3/Hands Free/Bluetooth
Rockford Fosgate Door & Rear Speakers
Kenwood Amplifier For Door & Rear Speakers under Passenger Seat
10" Kenwood Subwoofer in Custom Box w/Amp & Wiring Kit
A/C Double Solenoid Valve (Controls Air Vent Flow Shutters)
New Woodgrain Trim for Window Switches & A/C Unit
Custom Matching Woodgrain Trim for Kenwood Radio
New Z Emblem for Steering Wheel
New RearView Mirror & Support Base
New Center Console Leather Lid & Support
Rear Hatch Trim Piece
Rear Hatch Speaker Grilles

There may have been some more things that I can't remember, I have records for everything and will provide them to the buyer.

The car runs and drives very well. I drove it down from San Francisco and it didn't skip a beat. It has been garage kept and never driven in the rain.

Now, here is what needs to be done to make this vehicle mint condition:

Replace Steering Rack
Potentially Replace Clutch
Minor Paint Reconditioning

The interiror is an 8.5/10. There are some small stains on the carpet and the passenger seat leather is a little hard on the base. There are no tears/rips and it is very clean. No cracks on the windshield, No cracks on the dash.

This car is equipped with every feature you could get in 1985. It includes the Digitial Dash, Compass, Accelerometer, and talking warning system. It has heated mirrors, automatic a/c, cruise control, power locks/windows, T-Tops, MPG Indicator, Turbo, Boost Indicator, Headlight Washers, and probably some more things I can't think of.

In addition to the car, I have spare parts, (sometimes rare to find), interior pieces, the original radio with equalizer, original speaker amplifier, original sales brochure, misc. magazine articles from the 80's that show off the car and several other relevant things. This will be included for free if the car sells for Buy It Now price.

Why am I selling it? Good question! This is my 3rd 300zx, I love these cars!! I also love fixing them and restoring the cars back to how they were in the 80's, just love them!! Anyways, My business has taken off and I do not have the time to spend with the Z any more.  I leased a new car and find myself neglecting the Z. I only drive it once or twice a month and for the rest of the time it just sits in the garage.

Please send any questions or offers you may have.

Nissan built a Skyline that you can almost live in

Sun, Mar 26 2023

The Infiniti Q50 is pretty long in the tooth, but parent company Nissan is still trying to keep things interesting. In Japan it's sold as the Nissan Skyline, and a new concept based on the luxury sedan converts it into a space you could actually live in.  The cumbersomely named Nissan Skyline Contemporary Lifestyle Vehicle Concept adds a slew of convenience features that you should never use while driving. When parked, however, they turn your car into a little living room. For example, there's a little smartphone holder that folds out from the steering wheel so you can prop your screen up and watch a movie. If that's too small a viewing surface for you, the center infotainment touchscreen can be removed from its dashboard perch and used as a tablet. And if that's still too small for you, there's a screen mounted in the headliner above the rear seats. How do you watch a screen in that location? Glad you asked. The front seats, headrests, rear bench and passthrough to the trunk all lay flat in one uniform surface sleeping area. When lying down, the screen will be right above your head. And should you get cold, the driver's door panel pops open to reveal a blanket while the cupholder has a heating element to keep a beverage warm. On the flip side, should you get hot, a button on the inside B-pillar activates the air conditioning so you don't even have to sit up to access the climate control. While awake, you can avail yourself of multiple table surfaces located around the cabin. One folds out from the center console like on a business class airplane seat. A detachable sun visor also turns into a table. Then get a little work done by plugging in to either the 100-volt outlet in the passenger side mirror or an on-board portable battery. Obviously you wouldn't want to get your nice jacket wrinkled as you lounge in the car, so the grab handle above the door expands into a hanger wide enough to keep your coat uncreased. Other clever storage options include an umbrella compartment in the door sill, a bin located in the headrest, and a hands-free kick-activated locker below the rear bumper where a diffuser would reside. Perhaps most superfluous of all is a trash receptacle located in the driver's side mirror. You'd still have to empty it when full, but at least smelly garbage would be outside the car. Oh yeah, there's one final viewing surface, the largest of them all.

Nissan alters all CVTs to act less like a stretched rubberband

Tue, 15 Jul 2014

Among automotive enthusiasts, no one seems to hold a neutral opinion when it comes to continuously variable transmissions. CVTs are either praised for their ability to boost fuel economy or chided for their occasionally poor driving dynamics. Nissan is among the masters of these un-shifting gearboxes in the US, and it uses them in many vehicles in its lineup. However, for the 2015 model year, several models are getting a software update to make their CVTs a bit more like a conventional automatic.
To give drivers the option of feeling gearshifts while on the road, Nissan is adding its D-Step Shift Logic feature to the CVTs in multiple vehicles. Steve Powers, Nissan's senior manager of powertrain performance, told Autoblog the system forces the transmission to "hold a ratio and then shift" to simulate the way that a traditional automatic would. It's simply a change in software, but the company "can't do it to older CVTs," he said, because it would require changes to transmission logic, as well. According to Automotive News, the upgrade is coming to the 2015 Versa, Versa Note (pictured above), Sentra, V6-equipped Altima, Pathfinder and Quest. "We're rolling it out to all programs," said Powers.
Interestingly, buyer perception appears to be pushing the upgrade. John Curl, a Nissan North America regional product manager, told Automotive News that the decision to add the tech partially comes because some owners are bothered that the CVTs aren't changing gears. According to Powers, D-Step "avoids the rubber band feel," that many drivers didn't like. The different sensation of these transmissions seems like something consumers would notice during the test drive, or that the salesperson would inform them about. The same issue cropped up last year when the company was facing customer satisfaction problems among new buyers customers' unfamiliarity with the gearboxes.
