Hello and welcome.   Being offered is my 1984 Nissan 300 ZX.     I've had it just over a year, and it was to be my "hobby",  back-up transportation and over-all fun-to-drive machine.     Had cancer surgery last Fall, with more to come.   Am now not able to work on cars.          3.0 liter V6 fuel-injected engine and 5-speed manual trans..     Engine runs well and trans. shifts smoothly.     (Drove ZX to grandson's HS graduation in MD 2 weeks ago, did fine).    No accidents.     Has AC and tries to click on, but can't due to lack of refrigerant (old R-12).    Has current (through Aug.  2013) WV inspection sticker.    All exterior lights work, as well as motorized pop-up headlights.    Both windshield and back window wipers work.   Had disabled (pulling bulbs, fuses, or disconnecting wires) interior lights due to always leaving them on while working on car.    Engine timing belt was replaced at 142,000 miles.    Wheels are factory alloy, tires are very good, and factory spec..    Have replaced in last year:   both hood struts, starter, rear shocks, front rotors and pads,   oil and filter change (100% synthetic).  I don't think the cruise control works, but have never looked into it.    The black insert for the grille was missing when I got he car (have seen them on EBAY for around 50.00).   The interior carpeting isn't all that good, but had started working in replacing it.   The seats are a sort of blue/gray and gray velour-type fabric, no holes or tears,  I have black aftermarket seat covers draped over the seats at present.   Installed tight-fitting leather steering wheel cover.   Glass is in good condition, a few scratches and dings.    Aftermarket radio with detachable faceplate and CD player.     Power antenna raises when radio is turned on, and lowers when turned off.    There is a crack in the red plastic piece between the taillights (common on these cars).

One non-stock feature is the permanent installation of rear fender flares.     They come from a 1984 300 ZX 50th anniversary edition.   They are bolted and epoxied on, then faired in.
The paint is Duplicolor (Sherwin-Williams Co.) Deep Blue Metalic  LACQUER.    There needs to be some touch-up of paint as well as some more wet-sanding, compounding and polishing in my opinion.  (car was silver originally).    I somehow lost the ZX emblem from the upper nose after removal for painting.  (have seen these on EBAY).    This is my 4th and final Datsun/Nissan Z-car,  will miss them.
I cannot arrange shipping.     The vehicle is sold as-is, with no warranty.     No oil used in 1100 miles since oil change.    Any questions, just ask.      This car turns a lot of heads .
Thanks for stopping by.         Adding:    2 or 3 areas cracked open on top of dash from heat/sun.  Not bad for 30-year-old car, though.    Repair manual included.  Has collapsible spare tire with gas canister.

Nissan reveals radical BladeGlider concept for Tokyo debut

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

Radical reinvention of the automobile doesn't happen very often. There's a reason they refer to it as "reinventing the wheel", after all. But that's what a team of racecar designers did with the original DeltaWing concept in 2010. Originally proposed as an IndyCar racer, the project was subsequently redesigned for Le Mans. That's when Nissan got on board, supported the project for a few races, then took the design in its own direction with the ZEOD RC. And now it's taking it to the road... via the auto show.
What we have here is the BladeGlider concept, a proposal for a delta-shaped electric sportscar which Nissan will present at the Tokyo Motor Show in a couple of weeks. Designed to focus on driving pleasure, the BladeGlider is about as radical as they come. Like the DeltaWing and ZEOD RC, it's got a narrow front track and wide rear to minimize drag and optimize stability, packing a 1+2 seating arrangement to put the driver front and center like in a McLaren F1, with upward-swinging doors and underbody aerodynamics to keep it glued to the road. In-wheel motors (of unspecified output) provide the power, a lightweight lithium-ion battery (not to mention the carbon-fiber bodywork) keeps it all fearther-like, and weight distribution is heavily biased towards the rear at 30:70.
A radical concept, to be sure, but here's the kicker: Nissan wants to build it. As you can see from the press release below, the BladeGlider "is both a proposal for the future direction of Nissan electric vehicle (EV) development and an exploratory prototype for an upcoming production vehicle". While it would undoubtedly take some time to develop, much less certify for road, seeing one of these - or even better, driving one - on our favorite stretches of tarmac strikes us as a prospect worth waiting for.

Autoblog fan favorite car ads from Super Bowl XLIX

Mon, Feb 2 2015

Super Bowl XLIX is in the books, and the New England Patriots emerged victorious. Of course, if you're like us, the big game wasn't so much about the battle between the east coast and west, so much as a fight between the world's automotive advertisers. We collected and collated all of last night's new ads and put them together for you to vote on. And yes, we're limiting this year's contest to last night's new features. That's why you aren't seeing Dodge's epic Wisdom among our collection of commercials, and it's a similar story with Chevrolet's Truck Guy Focus Group series, which highlights the new Colorado. You can still vote for your favorites. We won't be closing the voting on our Super Bowl page, so while the winners and losers are correct as of this writing, it's entirely possible that there could be some changes in the rankings as time goes on. So, without any further ado, here are the winning ads based on your voting. Nissan: With Dad Fiat: Ready For Action Jeep: Beautiful Lands BMW: Newfangled Idea Mercedes-Benz: Fable NASCAR: America Start Your Engines As for those ads that failed to impact you, loyal readers, Toyota was the absolute, undisputed loser. The Japanese brand ran four ads in total – two for Toyota and two for Lexus – and all of them have negative tallies as of this writing. Lexus' Make Some Noise and Lets Play and Toyota's One Bold Choice and My Bold Dad both had very weak showings among the commercials that aired, although they weren't alone. Neither Mazda nor Kia scored particularly well, despite featuring celebrity magic act Penn and Teller and former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan, respectively. Chevrolet was the winner of the losers, as of our writing, recording the fewest downvotes for its audience-punking The Big Game ad. If you want to take a second look at the losing ads, you can head back to our Super Bowl page for the complete collection. But for now, head into Comments and let us know what you think of the results.

Nissan will restore Craigslist Maxima, display at headquarters [w/video]

Sat, 08 Feb 2014

Nissan showed that it had a great sense of humor when it bought Luke Aker's beat-up 1996 Nissan Maxima GLE for $1,400 back in December based solely on the quality of his tongue-in-cheek sales video.
Aker's Maxima had been thoroughly driven. It needed a strap to keep its hood closed, had front end damage, a missing turn signal and shredded leather seats. Of course, like Aker said in his ad, the car was still "fully loaded with an engine, wheels, tires and an automatic transmission." How could Nissan resist?
After buying the car, Nissan teamed up with MotorAuthority to decide what to do with it. The winning idea was to restore the car to its proper condition and display it at Nissan North America headquarters in Franklin, TN, with Aker's video playing nearby. According to MotorAuthority, the car has finally made it there, and its rebirth will begin soon. Nissan is not sure when the car will go on display.
