FOR SALE HERE IS AN ALL ORIGINAL 1984 DATSUN / NISSAN 300ZX 50TH ANNIVERSARY TURBO 5 SPEED. THERE IS ONE PART ON THIS CAR THAT IS NOT ORIGINAL AND THAT IS THE MAGNAFLOW MUFFLER. IT IS AN UNRESTORED COLLECTOR CAR THAT HAS 118500 MILES. NEXT YEAR MARKS THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THIS Z. THERE WERE ONLY 5148 OF THESE ANNIVERSARY CARS PRODUCED AND, OUT OF THAT, 3712 CAME EQUIPPED WITH THE 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. NOW, NEARLY 30 YEARS LATER, THERE ARE NOT MANY ALL ORIGINAL, TRUE 50TH ANNIVERSARY'S LEFT THAT HAVEN'T BEEN WRECKED, CRUSHED, DISMANTLED, OR MODIFIED IN SOME WAY. THIS CAR RUNS, SHIFTS AND DRIVES GOOD. THE BODY IS STRAIGHT AND SHOWS NO SIGNS OF RUST. STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL 3 WAY ADJUSTABLE ELECTRONIC SUSPENSION. THE PAINT IS FADED ON THE HOOD AND THE T-BAR ROOF. THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED THIS PAST WINTER FROM THE COLD. THERE IS SOMETHING DRAINING THE BATTERY BUT AS LONG AS YOU DISCONNECT IT WHEN YOU PARK IT FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, IT WILL BE FINE. THE DIGITAL DASH WORKED WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED 6 MONTHS AGO BUT WHEN I STARTED IT RECENTLY IT DIDN'T COME ON. I TRIED TO REPLACE IT WITH ANOTHER DASH AND IT ALSO DIDN'T WORK. I WAS TOLD IT IS MORE THAN LIKELY THE POWER SUPPLY BOX LOCATED UNDER THE DASH. I PRICED THAT BOX AND IT GENERALLY RUNS $50-$100. THE PADDED DASH NEEDS REPLACED OR REFURBISHED AS THE SUN HAS CRACKED IT OVER THE YEARS. THE SEATS HAVE A COUPLE OF PLACES WHERE THE SEAMS ARE COMING APART BUT NOT BAD. THE TIRES ARE WEATHERED AND COULD STAND TO BE REPLACED. THE A/C ISN'T WORKING. REALLY, THE CAR SHOULD BE SEEN TO BE APPRECIATED. IT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT BUT ITS PRETTY MINOR STUFF. MECHANICALLY, THE CAR IS IN GREAT SHAPE. PLEASE MESSAGE ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS. THE CAR IS ALSO FOR SALE LOCALLY AND SELLER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION EARLY. DEPOSIT IS TO BE MADE VIA PAYPAL WITH THE REMAINDER TO BE PAID IN PERSON. THERE IS NO WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. THE CAR IS BEING SOLD AS-IS; WHERE-IS. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL TAXES, FEES, AND SHIPPING COSTS.

Auto industry insider previews tell-all book, What Did Jesus Drive?
Tue, 11 Nov 2014
"It's about some of the biggest crises in history. It's about who did it right and who did it wrong." - Jason Vines
Jason Vines, the former head of public relations at Chrysler, Ford and Nissan, has seen a lot during his more than 30-year career, and now he's offering a behind-the-scenes look at the auto industry in his tell-all book What Did Jesus Drive? that went on sale this month.
Did Nissan send a ringer GT-R to run the 'Ring? [w/video]
Mon, 25 Nov 2013It turns out that after toting a 7:08 time around the fearsome Nürburgring Nordschleife for the new Nismo-tuned GT-R, Nissan might not have been entirely honest about the car it was using. From what we've been hearing from a few different publications, the GT-R featured in the video isn't what we're going to see on the production model.
PistonHeads reported on the so-called "Time Attack" GT-R while it was in Japan for the Tokyo Motor Show, going so far as to detail the differences between it and the standard GT-R Nismo. And friends, this isn't just a matter of swapping tires. The mods made to the Time Attack car are far more comprehensive.
For a start, the TA produces more downforce thanks to larger aerodynamic pieces. It's some 110 pounds lighter than the standard car, thanks to new bucket seats. The ECU and dampers have been swapped for new units, and the brake pads are different as well. If you've read this far, you might be feeling slightly angry or betrayed that Nissan is toting numbers for a modified car. Don't be.
Nissan promising autonomous car production by 2020
Tue, 27 Aug 2013Nissan will bring the autonomous car to consumers by the end of this decade. The announcement was made by CEO Carlos Ghosn at the company's US headquarters in Irvine, CA. Nissan has already begun construction of a dedicated proving ground for the self-driving cars in Japan, with completion targeted for the end of 2014.
Teaming with MIT, Stanford, Oxford and others, Nissan has already outfitted Leaf EVs with the Autonomous Drive (Nissan's brand name for the tech), a suite of new technologies developed from the brand's existing Safety Shield technology. The current iteration of Autonomous Drive uses the Around-View Monitoring system and laser scanners to analyze the environment, while artificial intelligence systems have been installed to help navigate and operate in a changing environment.
While it's easy to say that Nissan will bring the technology to market within the next six or seven years, it's more difficult to say at what price Autonomous Drive will be available. Most remarkable about all of this is Nissan's claim that self-driving cars will be both commercially viable and available at "realistic prices for consumers." It's expecting Autonomous Drive to be available across its range within two vehicle generations.
