I reserve the right to end this listing at anytime. This is a 1 owner ( Military Pilot ), bought new at Tibbetts Nissan and always stored inside a bubble of a heated garage. Impeccably maintained with 12000 miles that has never been driven in the rain, snow, or elements. I have no doubt that this 50th would win 1st Place at any Nissan or Japanese car show event. You could still put it on a Nissan Dealer showroom floor. If you know anything about these 50th's, they are that needle in the haystack. I have the 50th gold key - unused, car cover - boxed - unused, front bra - boxed - unused, every piece of paper, manual, window sticker, accessory and order sheet that was delivered when it was new ( see pic ). Do not hesitate to reach me via phone:  305-302-4617.

Flash went off in a couple of the pictures. Rest assured, there is no fading, wear, or discoloration whatsoever.

I can assist with shipping, as I have a contact in the industry. Let me know if you need a quote. It belongs in an enclosed car hauler.

1984 Datsun / Nissan 50th Anniversary 300ZX Turbo - RARE, RARE AUTO - 12000 orig. miles - MAY BE ONE OF IF NOT THE FINEST EXAMPLE IN THE COUNTRY IN THIS ORIGINAL / UNMOLESTED / RUST FREE CONDITION - NO ACCIDENTS / NO CORROSION / NO PAINT. For a Nissan purist or car collectors, it is definitely a great piece of history. Be the envy of other 300 owners when you pull up at a show.

The Light Pewter metallic / Black paint shines like it was still 1984. It was Ziebarted when new. All of the moldings, handles, window glass, t-tops, lettering, rubber seals, and all other exterior features are in pristine condition. The wheels have no abuse and the original Pirelli P6 tires were properly stored and are like new. It drives straight down the road with zero issues. Always hand washed / waxed with the best materials money can buy.

On the inside, the Black interior still looks, feels, and smells brand new. As you can see in the pics, the seats have always been covered and the flooring is crisp / damage free. The floor mats were laid in for the pictures. The door panels, t-top bags, sun shields, dash, center console, faceplates, etc. are original and not marked. All of the interior buttons / switches - power windows, door locks, cruise, hatch release, fuel door, all digital gauges and clock keep perfect time calculations. The orig. stereo / speakers / steering controls w/ body-sonic all function. The spare tire compartment still has the orig. spare - never on the ground, inflator cannister, jack, bolts are still in place.

Mechanically, it starts, idles, and drives smoothly as you would expect a new like car should. The engine compartment has never even been cleaned, except for wipe downs. All of the servicing is up to date - fuel injector recall, a/c, belts, hoses, coolant, thermostat, fluids all changed ( synthetic ) / maintained at the proper intervals. The timing belt was done only due to age. The Turbo engine spools out without issue at its stock 5-6psi., the tranny shifts softly, and it performs on all levels. It has never been driven hard. Of course, The a/c is blistering cold and the brakes have plenty of pad left. All of the other mechanical functions are point on.

* Please note- The coating in the engine compartment is not dirt, it is the Armor guard from new. The engine has never been detailed.

Panoz mulls suing Nissan for ZEOD RC's Deltawing likeness

Tue, 17 Sep 2013

Imitation might be the sincerest form of flattery, but in racing, where something as simple as a car's shape can lead to a competitive advantage, imitation can be a big no-no. That reality is being played out right now, with the DeltaWing prototype and the Nissan ZEOD RC. The two cars, as you can see from the images above, bear a striking resemblance to each other. They're so similar, in fact, that Dr. Don Panoz, one of the big names behind the DeltaWing program, is assigning some legal eagles to investigate any patent infringement.
The similarity shouldn't be a shock, though. Both cars are penned by Ben Bowlby, and the DeltaWing - which will be arriving as a coupe in the very near future - had Nissan branding and power for a not-insignificant amount of time. But for Panoz, the ZEOD RC's resemblance is just a bit too much, as he told Autoweek, "It's been interesting to watch people from Nissan trying to dodge the question, but the fact is that in their own press release they admit that the configuration of the ZEOD is the same as the DeltaWing. And we do have patents, in fact another one was just issued last week. We are in discussions with our legal advisors and we'll see what happens."
Frankly, it's not difficult to see what Panoz means. The general shape of the ZEOD RC, with its wide rear track and narrow front track arrangement - not to mention the headlights mounted over the rear wheel arches and any arrangements not visible under the body - are so reminiscent of the DeltaWing that differences like the shape of its closed cockpit and more upright front end might not prove different enough to avert Panoz's legal action. We'll stay with this one and let you know as more becomes available.

Infiniti's new VC-T changes the rules of small turbocharged engines

Sun, Aug 14 2016

The upcoming Infiniti QX50 crossover does not get our pulse racing, no matter how shapely the QX Sport Inspiration concept that previews it may be. No midsize SUV does, to be fair. But it has something special under the hood – the world's first production variable-compression-ratio engine. That means the QX50's 2.0-liter turbo four, which makes 268 horsepower and 288 pound-feet of torque, will have up to 27 percent better fuel economy. Here's how it works. The trend of moving to smaller, turbocharged engines carries with it one big falsehood. Under low load when the turbo isn't needed, these engines are less efficient than an equivalent engine without a turbo because of the low compression ratio the turbo requires. That is, if you never need the extra power, you're wasting fuel. Turbocharged (and supercharged) engines use a lower compression ratio to prevent detonation. When you force extra air in a cylinder and mix it with fuel, it's more likely to prematurely go boom. Lowering the compression ratio prevents this problem, but it's less efficient. Infiniti's VC-T promises the best of both worlds, with a compression ratio that ranges from 8.0:1 for high-power turbo needs to a 14.0:1 ratio for fuel-sipping efficiency. At its heart the VC-T engine is a simple idea, but it's complicated to explain. Consider yourself warned. The photo below from Infiniti serves as a good visual overview. For the truly nerdy, this patent application covers the mechanical concept. Instead of having the pistons connected to the crankshaft, Infiniti's engine has a pivot arm with a connection on each end. One end connects to the piston, the other connects to a second lower shaft, which is controlled by an actuator arm. At any given time the engine's pistons move up and down according to the lobes on the crankshaft. But the actuator arm can change the angle of the pivot arm up and down. That is, the pistons still move in the same motion with the same stroke, but phase the entire stroke up or down. Move the pivot up and there's less room at the top, which means a higher compression ratio. Move the pivot down and the compression ratio goes down, too. As an added bonus, the lower shaft eliminates the need for counter-rotating balance shafts. Infiniti says this system works constantly and can vary the compression ratio to any number between 8:1 and 14:1. It also uses electronic variable valve timing on the intake valves to switch into Atkinson-cycle combustion for greater efficiency.

NISMO confirms hotter GT-R, return to Le Mans and more performance models [w/videos]

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Nissan has made three announcements, all of which intend to sharpen the global significance and sales of its NISMO performance arm. Calling it "a new era for NISMO as its global performance car and motorsports brand," Carlos Ghosn cut the ribbon on the new, larger, nicer NISMO headquarters in Yokohama, Japan. For the first time since the division was founded in 1984, all of its employees are located in one place that was dubbed "a hothouse of passion and performance." Sign us up.
There, the team will start overhauling Nissan's entire range with NISMO models. The Juke NISMO is right around the corner for the US market, the second generation of the 370Z NISMO is coming for 2014, the first GT-R NISMO is being developed, and after that will come "a range of affordable performance Nissan models from small cars to flagship sports cars" - a new model every year. The expanded product line will mean that markets that haven't had access to NISMO's works will finally be able to buy them.
The last big news is that from now on NISMO will manage every one of Nissan's global motorsports programs, and its largest initiative will be prepping an entry for Le Mans in 2014. While Nissan has left the DeltaWing project, it hasn't walked away from experimental racers: the brand aims to have "a pioneering Nissan race car showcasing electric technology" ready in 15 months that shows "a new approach to innovation and excitement."
