I am selling this car for a friend.  The car is sitting in his backyard.  Several years ago, I think 2-3 but possibly longer, he took this to the auto body shop and had some engine work done on it.  At that time he was told that, "THE FRAME WAS RUSTED AND THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE."  Ever since it has sat in his backyard.  Therefore, this car is being sold AS-IS, and anyone that wants it will have to bring a truck or trailer and tow or remove it from the yard.  Under no circumstance will this car be able to be or be allowed to be driven off the property.  9/7/2013:  I've called the autobody shop and they didn't maintain any records as to where the damage or the rusting out to the frame was, so I can't pinpoint that information for prospective buyers.

9/7/2013:  The battery on this car was dead and wouldn't hold a charge.  I can't tell you whether the engine would start right up without a new battery, and I can't say whether there is gas in the tank--which would be over 3 years old.  These are items you will have to resolve upon transporting the car to your location.

That said, this was the last year they made the Nissan 280ZX.  After 1983, Nissan made the nasty 300ZX, which looked like a cross between a yard Jart and a Mazda.  The 280ZX had style and class, and this is what you will be trying to restore back into this car, provided the frame can be replaced and/or repaired.  Like is said, this is a strip it down and rebuild it to its former glory kind of project.  9/7/2013:  The passenger side front fender is rusted, as pictured, but this car comes with a replacement fender from the owner's last attempt to revitalize the car (see photo).  These are not easy to come by on this 30-year old car, and not cheap either.

Guaranteed to have a clear title, or if necessary a rebuild or salvage title.  The person I am selling this for is a local official, so you will leave with the car and title--or not at all.  IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO GO DOWN TO THE COURTHOUSE AND EXCHANGE TITLE, YOU WILL NOT LEAVE WITH THE CAR.  No taking care of it later.

Please contact me with any questions.  I live about 5 minutes from the car.  Please review the pictures.  They are fairly representative, although they were taken a season ago.  Contact for updated pictures and information, and if you are in the area, then by al means please feel free to make an appointment with me to see the car in person--I highly recommend it.

I will update the auction with as much information as I can, as it becomes available to me.

Nissan's Le Mans-bound ZEOD RC electric racecar nearing completion [w/video]

Sun, 01 Sep 2013

Nissan is working away on its ZEOD RC (Zero Emission On Demand Racing Car) which is still on pace for a Le Mans arrival in 2014. As of right now, the DeltaWing-shaped car's carbon-fiber tub and chassis have been completed. The next step will be installing the twin electric motors and fitting the seat of driver and GT Academy winner Lucas Ordóñez. If the current schedule sticks, the zero-emissions racer will hit a UK track for test laps in September.
But while those initial shakedown laps will be under full electric power, it's unclear whether the setup fielded in the UK will survive until Le Mans. Nissan itself says that it will be testing a number of "electrified" drivetrains ahead of the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans, which is a significant departure from race car design - usually, the teams know what's powering their car before they start building it.
"Just developing a single powertrain option in only 12 months would be a mammoth task but we're looking to carefully examine a number of options to ascertain which will be best suited for Le Mans," said Darren Cox, Nissan's global motorsport director. Take a look below for a video and press release from Nissan documenting the ZEOD RC's build process.

Ghosn: Low oil prices won't hurt EVs much

Mon, Jan 26 2015

Carlos Ghosn might be the most unflappable automotive CEO around. Despite lower gas prices and signs that these prices do impact green vehicle sales, the CEO of the Renault-Nissan Alliance was at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland this weekend saying that people will continue to buy electric vehicles. "I don't think it is going to be slowing down," he said. "The people who are buying mainly for economic reasons may be deterred from it, but you have plenty of consumers buying EV for other reasons. On top of this, even though the price of oil is unpredictable – nobody has predicted last year that we would be at this level of oil price today and nobody knows where oil price will be next year or two years down the road – but what is predictable is that the regulation on emissions is going to get tougher in the various markets where we are present. So, our EV strategy is here not only to face too much dependence on oil or the cost of oil, but also to allow us to meet the very stringent regulations on emissions that are happening and will be happening in the future. So I can bet you that more and more car makers are coming to EVs and they're going to continue to build and sell EVs, even though the price of oil is coming down." The bit about oil prices and electric vehicles starts at 1:35 into the video. News Source: Nissan via YouTube Green Nissan Renault Emissions Gas Prices Electric Videos oil prices
