EXTERIOR:

Rust on the very bottom of the car, on the panel below the doors (it's a Minnesota vehicle). Bumpers are a bit warped. Wax residue on the cracks/crevices of the exterior. The "Z" and "280zx" emblems are missing, except one of the "280zx" emblems is still on there.

INTERIOR:

Carpet on driver side has a big tear in it as you can see from the photo. I have mats for both sides, although the passenger side carpet is in excellent shape. The trunk liner and carpet below the trunk liner isn't in the greatest shape. There are 2 cracks in the dash cover. There is a crack on the trim around the driver side door handle. The button to reset the trip odometer is broken and does not function. The walls of the trunk, as in the vinyl is starting to come off but it's just a cosmetic issue and there's no leaking in the trunk, nor is there leaking from rain/air/whatever in any part of the interior vehicle whatsoever. The dome light does not work. The ceiling is in excellent shape as well as the rear view mirror. The flip down visors don' have mirrors on them but I don't know if they ever did.

DRIVABILITY:

Very reliable car. The only issue I had was with it starting in the winter and once I replaced the battery with a red top, I had no issues whatsoever. I just had the ignition switch replaced so the it starts right up and it idles beautifully. I just had the oil changed within the last 50-100 miles and I've changed the oil on it every 3-4k miles. There's no power steering, no airbags, and this is not due to lack of maintenance, the car rolled out of the factory without those things. There are crank windows. There are no power locks or power seats. It is a 5 speed manual. It does not slip out of gear. The brakes might need to be checked out. Regular pedal braking is fine but the e-brake seems to not hold as well as it should. I get anywhere from 17 to 22 miles to the gallon. It takes premium, and non oxygenated is preferred. The A/C and heat work, and I've had it serviced but it only gets so cold.

HISTORY:

I had a few things replaced, like the temperature sensor which was bad and was forcing my car to dump more fuel than needed. That was fixed and it's been good since. Had the wheels balanced because the steering wheel used to shake and that's no longer an issue. There is an MP3/CD head unit in there with quality speakers but no amp or subwoofer.

The mileage is 75XXX miles to the best of my knowledge. That is what the previous owner told me however the odometer only has 5 digits, so for the buyer, it might as well mean 975,000 miles. There is no carfax history report since there isn't a VIN. I've never gotten into an accident with this car and I put about 15k miles on it.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Thanks for looking!

Ghosn's first jail interview: I was the victim of 'plot and treason'

Wed, Jan 30 2019

TOKYO — Carlos Ghosn said Nissan executives opposed to his plans for closer ties with automaking partner Renault SA resorted to "plot and treason" to disrupt them and were behind the financial misconduct allegations against him. Speaking to the Nikkei newspaper in his first media interview since his arrest on Nov. 19, Ghosn said he had discussed plans to integrate the companies with Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa in September. But Nissan executives employed "plot and treason" to uproot those plans, Ghosn said. Ghosn, who spearheaded Nissan's turnaround two decades ago, had pushed for a deeper tie-up between Nissan and Renault, including possibly a full merger, despite strong reservations at the Japanese corporation. He remains in detention following his arrest and indictment on charges related to breach of trust and understating his salary. His arrest has clouded the outlook for closer ties between Nissan and Renault, along with Mitsubishi Motors Corp, the third member of the automaking alliance Since his arrest, Saikawa has said it was not the time to discuss revising the partners' complex capital ties. Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors have dismissed Ghosn as chairman, while he has resigned from the helm at Renault. Ghosn denied accusations of improper payments to a company run by a Saudi businessman, saying the payment had been approved by a Nissan executive. Ghosn also called accusations by both Nissan and Mitsubishi that he received nearly 8 million euros in improper payment through a Dutch-based joint venture of the two automakers "a distortion of reality," and argued his luxury residences in Rio de Janeiro and Beirut were approved by Nissan's legal department. Nissan has said it was not aware that it had paid for many of Ghosn's properties. On Wednesday, a spokesman said that the company was unable to comment on Ghosn's legal defense. Ghosn, in the 20-minute interview, denied that his tenure at Nissan had been a "dictatorship." "People translated strong leadership to dictator, to distort reality" for the "purpose of getting rid of me," he said. Ghosn added that his health was fine, and that he wouldn't flee if freed on bail. Meanwhile, NHK reported that Saikawa plans to hold his first face-to-face discussion with new Renault Chairman Jean-Dominique Senard on the sidelines of an alliance meeting in the Netherlands on Thursday.Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Asian automakers still reluctant to use more aluminum

Tue, Jun 24 2014

There's a logical progression of technology in the auto industry. We've seen it with things like carbon-ceramic brakes, which use to be the sole domain of six-figure sports cars, where they often cost as much as an entry level Toyota Corolla. Now, you can get them on a BMW M3 (they're still pricey, at $8,150). Who knows, maybe in the next four a five years, they'll be available on something like a muscle car or hot hatchback. Aluminum has had a similar progression, although it's further along, moving from the realm of Audi and Jaguar luxury sedans to Ford's most important product, the F-150. With the stuff set to arrive in such a big way on the market, we should logically expect an all-aluminum Toyota Camry or Honda Accord soon, right? Um, wrong. Reuters has a great report on what's keeping Asian manufacturers away from aluminum, and it demonstrates yet another stark philosophical difference between automakers in the east and those in the west. Of course, there's a pricing argument at play. But it's more than just the cost of aluminum sheet (shown above) versus steel. Manufacturing an aluminum car requires extensive retooling of existing factories, not to mention new relationships with suppliers and other logistical and financial nightmares. Factor that in with what Reuters calls Asian automaker's preference towards "evolutionary upgrades," and the case for an all-aluminum Accord is a difficult one. Instead, manufacturers in the east are focusing on developing even stronger steel as a means of trimming fat, although analysts question how long that practice can continue. Jeff Wang, the automotive sales director for aluminum supplier Novelis, predicts that we'll see a bump in aluminum usage from Japanese and Korean brands in the next two to three years, and that it will be driven by an influx of aluminum-based vehicles from western automakers into China. Only time will tell if he's proven right. News Source: ReutersImage Credit: Sean Gallup / Getty Images Plants/Manufacturing Honda Hyundai Mazda Nissan Toyota Technology aluminum

GT-R driver walks away from terrifying dragstrip accident

Tue, 17 Sep 2013

With all-wheel drive, launch control and a dual-clutch transmission, the Nissan GT-R may be easier to manage than most supercars. But that doesn't mean that dragging one on a wet strip is a good idea.
Filmed at the Unlimited 500+ drag race in Moscow, Russia, this video depicts a pair of GT-Rs going head to head. But things didn't go quite as planned when the driver of one lost control of her twin-turbo supercar. We'll let the video below speak for itself, but thankfully it appears no one was hurt - an outcome that seems particularly remarkable in light of the fact that it appears that the driver was not wearing a fire suit or helmet.
