212000 mi on ODO [not actual, broken cluster was replaced at 165000 mi with working cluster showing 202000 mi on ODO, actual miles closer to 175000 mi] 158 - 162 psi of compression in each cylinder [service limits are 152 - 179 psi]. Have Chiltons Manual for car. Also can send electronic Factory Service Manual for car to new owner. Nearly no rust on car. Surface rust on roof because of a dent. And slight surface rust found near battery, not sure why. Good: -Great base for a swap of any kind, or a turbo. Chassis is in great shape. -Have ~60000 mi J30 VLSD and 5bolt axles to put in the car, but never got around to it. Will send with the car for an extra $200 [just change the fluid and it bolts right in]. -Decent tread on all four tires [but they do not match]. -Cone filter intake. Mostly stock otherwise. ->8000 miles on all accessory belts. -AC works great. -Stops great. -Accelerates great. -Aftermarket stereo deck with CD player, 3.5mm AUX input [front and rear], subwoofer outputs. -Tinted windows all around. -Large amount of paperwork history for the car. -Two months ago the car had clay bar, rubbing compound, polishing compound, and wax used on it. -Clean Indiana Title in hand [originally an Oregon car]. -Brand new oil and filter. Bad: -Does not always immediately start after driving. May need a new starter solenoid/complete starter or coolant sensor? Always starts after about 1.5 hours [cools down?] Not sure, selling as is. -Drivers door looks like it has been replaced at some point. This door has no lock mechanism installed [have one for the car but uses a different key than ignition] and the window does not go down [button is broken off]. Easy fixes but I have been focusing on other cars, so I never fixed. Selling as is. -Some damage to front, rear bumper covers, roof, drivers side front wheel arch, and hood and no factory front grille. Cannot see much of the damage from 30ft; still a great looking car. Selling as is. Please do not shy away from this car because of the Bad list; I am trying to be honest. It is a great car and deserves to be sold to a decent, deserving owner. |

2015 Nissan Micra
Mon, 19 May 2014Several years ago, poutine started showing up on the menus of a number of Detroit-area restaurants. For those unfamiliar with the Canadian specialty, it involves serving up french fries, gravy and cheese curds all in one artery-clogging heap. It's not really my thing, but the comfort-food dish has caught hold here in The D, and many absolutely swear by it. In a country where we happily serve Double Down sandwiches, and where competitive eating qualifies as sport, it's hard to believe le poutine isn't spreading like wildfire.
Given Detroit's proximity to Canada, it's not surprising that this culinary creation has managed to find its way across the border. The same thing goes for cars - we Detroiters are routinely privy to lots of Great White North imports. No, we can't buy not-for-US vehicles like the Nissan X-Trail, Mercedes-Benz B-Class (at least, the gasoline version), or now-discontinued products like the Honda Civic-based Acura CSX or EL before it. But Ontario-plated examples of these cars can be seen all the time here in southeast Michigan - it's a far more common occurrence than you might think.
These days, it's rare that an automaker will introduce a model to Canada without offering it up in the United States - especially a car that stands to do big things for a company's presence in North America. But with this 2015 Nissan Micra, that's exactly what's happened; Nissan's US arm has repeatedly stated that there are no plans to offer the car in Yankeeland. Why is the Micra so important? This five-door hatchback enters Canada with the coveted title of being the most affordable new car in the country: just $9,998 Canadian (CAD) to start. In fact, the Micra launches to our north just as the larger, four-door Versa Sedan is phased out in Canada - a vehicle that holds the lowest-cost title here in the US, at $11,990 USD.
Dacia Duster to spawn inexpensive Nissan Terrano, will we get it?
Sat, 08 Jun 2013When going to overseas auto shows, one can't help but spend an inordinate amount of time eyeballing forbidden automotive fruit. It's often of the seriously rare, criminally powerful and six- or seven-digit variety. But more often than one might think, the genuinely affordable overseas hero makes us swoon, too. So it is with the Dacia/Renault Duster, the cheap-as-chips, hard-wearing utility vehicle. We've often thought that its basic, rugged charms would play well in the US if saddled with a low enough price tag, but we've never seen much of a window for that to actually come true.
But now, Autocar India is reporting that Nissan will flex its alliance with Renault to spin off a Duster of its own, one that exhumes the Terrano nameplate, a moniker once used for overseas versions of the first- and second-generation Pathfinder. The new model will feature unique sheetmetal to give it a familial look, but the interior will be the same, and we expect the same goes for the powertrain, meaning there will be a range of gasoline and diesel four-cylinder engines with both manual and automatic gearboxes and front- or all-wheel drive.
So, does that mean we'll get a Nissan version of the Duster-based Terrano to call our own? Sadly, almost certainly not. Company spokesman Dan Bedore tells Autoblog flatly, "There are no plans to bring this model to the US." Bummer. Even if it isn't ultimately as capable as the larger, long-in-the-tooth Xterra (it's more on par with the now departed Canadian-market X-Trail), we think the Duster's archetypal SUV looks and low cost barrier would win it plenty of fans in our market. Our guess is that redesigning the model to meet US regulations (crash, emissions, lighting, etc.) would be prohibitively expensive, and the Dacia/Renault model is built in some pretty distant facilities - Brazil, India, Romania and Russia among them - making the business case harder still.
Nissan Leaf all-electric taxis start pilot program in NYC [w/video]
Tue, 23 Apr 2013When New York City picked the Nissan NV200 as its Taxi of Tomorrow, many were surprised that the vehicle wasn't electric, or even a hybrid for that matter. With NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg on hand, Nissan celebrated Earth Day on Monday by unveiling a pilot program of electric taxis for the city consisting of six 2013 Nissan Leaf EVs, which the mayor referred to as the "taxi of the day after tomorrow."
This pilot program is aimed to show how EVs can operate as taxi cabs, and Mayor Bloomberg said that New York City hopes to have a third of its taxi fleet electrified by 2020. In addition to the six cars, Nissan has also provided three quick chargers around Manhattan, allowing the Leafs to get an 80-percent recharge in just 30 minutes.
According to David Yassky, commissioner of the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission, "What we have to do now is figure out how you integrate the charging of an electric vehicle into the duty of a taxi cab."
