1992 Nissan 240sx With Sr20det on 2040-cars
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
Completely stock when I bought it 8 years ago, this car has consumed almost all of my extra money when I was in my early 20's. Well I'm now 30 I own a more practical car as well as a fast motorcycle and would like some cash for a house. I have around 15k invested in it but we all know its impossible to get it all back. First of all before I list all the mods (will probably forget some) the chassis it self was never in an accident and was originally purchased In Arizonia. It is COMPLETLY rust free. The paint however is faded and the hood, roof and top of passenger rear fender where the paint was faded the worst have been spray painted. Body : Sound deadening removed/no ac Tanabe sustec pro coil overs (set up to near max ride height, can go much lower if that's what you're into) Nismo power brace Tomei 2 way dif (one of the most recent additions, cost over $850 still needs to be broken in) Energy suspension polyurethane rear subframe inserts Upgraded speakers incl custom brackets to fit sony 6x9's in rear (used to have subs but were sold years ago) Hood has real Aerocatch lockable hood latches (a nice security feature) as well as fully integrated vents New optima battery relocated to rear. Can easily trip the circuit breaker when storing or working on car Dash was cracked but I meticulously removed all the foam and sanded and painted the bare plastic Bare carbon fiber front bumper (never got around to painting it) Rear bumper support was changed to an aluminum one from a Saturn (can see it in the pic, this was a ~20lb weight savings alone) Rear spoiler was rescued from pic a part, came off a dodge but fits the car very well. Also much lighter than the stock cracked one! Tein front strut tower bar (the cheap alien bolts that came with this were removed in favor of larger grade 8 hardware) DC sports rear strut tower bar Carbon fiber mirrors Engine/Drivetrain : 1995 blacktop sr20det very low mi. on engine, just recently changed the oil (full syn mobile one 10w30) Car does not leak any fluids and never overheats even in the hottest summer weather here in Las Vegas XTD 6 puck copper ceramic clutch (only mod I regret doing as the original clutch was damn near perfect, I will include the stock clutch in the sale. This xtd clutch is like an on/off switch.) Driveshaft shop brand 1piece steel driveshaft Nismo motor mounts Cx racing intercooler Real HKS blow off valve Upgraded Koyo copper radiator with the proper jdm fan shroud. Samco radiator hoses Ebay boost valve (not fully hooked up, the car has never been run over 7 lbs of boost btw) 3" exhaust Apex power fc (also have a Q45 maf not installed that will come with the car) Hi flow fuel pump Wheels : 5zigen fn01rc, 17x7 and 17x8 (these are very lightweight but not the most aggressive fitment) Plenty of life on the tires, 215/40/17 and 245/40/17 Stock size cross drilled rotors, pads still have lots of life on them as well Alignment was done when the coilovers were installed and is set at negative 2.5 degrees front and negative 1.5 rear ( car has adjustable front camber plates and rear has been set with the stock eccentric bolts) AND MUCH MORE THAN I CAN REMEMBER Car is very light (probably sub 2,500 lb) and quick but I have been spoiled by my Kawasaki Ninja so it will never feel that fast to me. Mechanically it needs nothing and will still get decent gas mileage with all these mods. Legally speaking it could use some brighter headlights, one of the rear taillights is out, and the front windshield has a small crack that has continued to grow over the years. You could easily buy some dynamat, new carpet, get it repainted and have a nice daily OR add the Q45 maf I'm including along with a larger turbo then get it retuned and have a very fast car. |

Nissan details Craigslist 1996 Maxima restoration
Wed, 19 Nov 2014"Luxury Defined," in the most ironic sense the galaxy has ever known, is now "Luxury Restored," in the real and incredible sense. Last September, Luke Aker made ads to sell his 1996 Nissan Maxima GLE, the YouTube version being a mix truth, bombast, a British accent and a ratchet strap. The ad tickled Nissan such that it bought the car from Akes and made a donation to a charity of his choice. Then they consulted with the citizens of the Internet to decide what to do with it, the final vote being a complete restoration and display at the company's Nashville HQ.
Friends, Netizens, countrymen, the job is done. Nicknamed "Old Glory," comparing the old car with the new is like reading one of those shelter dog rescue stories where the loving family nurses an impossibly cute pup back to health with handheld nursing sessions, baby bottles of warm milk and whispered lullabies. Only Nissan probably didn't sing to the Maxima.
The Maxima is now on display, and we hope they've hung the ratchet strap with it. You can see Aker's new video on the transformation above, plus another video and press release below detailing the Maxima's journey back to New Glory.
Nissan IDx 'in the plan' for production, needs support from fans [w/poll]
Wed, 15 Jan 2014If there's a trend in the auto industry we can firmly get behind, it's the small, light and affordable rear-drive coupe. The positive critical reception to the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ twins has encouraged other manufacturers to look at building their own rear drivers, and even a few to show actual concept cars based on the idea. The Chevrolet Code 130R from 2012 and more recently, the Nissan IDx twins that were first shown at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show both come to mind, as does the brand-new Kia GT4 Stinger Concept.
Nissan trotted out the IDx Nismo and the IDx Freeflow for another showing in Detroit and we'll admit to being totally smitten with both cars. Again. The duo draw inspiration from the iconic Datsun 510, a lightweight, affordable rear-driver that remains a cult favorite decades after production ended.
Now, a report from our friends at AutoWeek reveals that we may, possibly, hopefully see a production IDx, provided fans make a strong enough case for it. "It's in the plan," Nissan product boss Andy Palmer told AW. According to the report, Palmer said the IDx is "into the first sage of the development process. The next stage is project validation and then looking at the business case. It's no one's intent to waste millions of the company's money, so obviously we have a good feeling about this one."
Nissan New Micra headed for Canadian showroom after Montreal reveal?
Fri, 10 Jan 2014Fresh off news that Mitsubishi is bringing a sedan version of its Mirage, called the G4, to this month's Montreal Auto Show, we now believe that another small car will be debuting for our small-car-loving friends to the north. Word is that Nissan will be bringing its compact New Micra to the Canadian show, as well. Slotting in just below the Versa Note hatchback in terms of both size and price, the Montreal debut should be followed up with an on-sale date in short order.
We've been hearing rumors that the New Micra would end up in Canadian dealerships for some time. At every turn, however, we've also heard that the Franco-Japanese hatch is not intended for sale in the US, and nothing in this latest report from Autos.ca would seem to indicate otherwise. As Autoblog sources are quick to point out, Nissan already has one of the least-expensive offerings in the US, the $11,990 Versa Sedan, and the Japanese automaker just doesn't see room underneath it for another model. Sorry, Yank.
