1989 Nissan 240sx Se Hatchback S13 Sr20det on 2040-cars
Chicago, Illinois, United States
Up for sale is my 1989 Nissan 240sx Hatch.400 miles ran on engine. Built
the winter of 2012 and ran this year. Car has never driven through winters and
has been babied for a long time. Chassis: Welded in reinforcement bar across front for crash bar delete. I sanded
down the whole front end. I painted 3 coats of high temp primer, 3 coats of
ultra-fire red high temp paint, 2 coats of sealer with gloss. Underside is clean.
Clean frame rails. No rust on quarters. Slight surface rust on lower portion of
the driver’s side fender, but I sanded it down and put anti rust agent on it. Suspension: KYB GR2 shocks all around, K Sport lowering springs, Rucas,
300zx diff, z32 brakes all around w drill slotted rotors. Sportmaxx 18 inch 502
rims and fat tires. New same miles 400 on them. Red tuner lugs. Engine sr20det red top (finned): Megan polyurethane motor mounts and trans
mount. Brian Crower 272 cams, BC valves, BC springs, BC guides, and retainers,
Rocker arm plate stopper. 2 new rockers and shims. Head was sent out to San
Diego california to HGMS for over haul where it was tanked, intake side ported
and exhaust side polished. Block was tanked and honed with cp pistons 86mm 9:1
compression, eagle rods. All new gaskets (will work with E85). S14 oil pump,
new suction line, s14 water pump, Moroso large oil pan, polished high flow
intake plenum w throttle cable mount, new plugs, coils, light weight pulleys,
ignitor chip, new belts, hoses. Koyo aluminum radiator with twin Spal slim high
power fans. Tomei 8270 arms turbo. Probably more. I wired the car myself and cleaned the engine bay. I put into place quick
disconnects to separate the harness if need be. Looks very clean Trans: Rebuilt; new first gear, new synchros, new input and out seals.
B&M short shifter. Exedy stage 2 clutch. New slave cylinder, throw out
bearing, and fork. Trans shifts like butter. Inside: 180 KPH gauge cluster. The door panels are clean. No cracks in the
dash. Red 5 zigen center cluster. Nismo leather shifter cover with red stitching.
Nismo race bucket seats with 4 point harness. Inside has new black carpet. Rear
seat nismo eliminator, looks nice and fitted well. Trunk gutted with battery
relocated and boxed. Bride steering wheel. New door seals and glass rubber backing.
New passenger side window motor. Sony radio. Body is original red. Has dings and dents but paint still shines. Was scraped
on the passenger side but it was repair 5 years ago. Minor scrape when another
vehicle pulled into the next parking spot. When I finished the build I broke in the engine for the 30 min run time.
After that I took it easy for the first week. I inspected the oil and it came
out clean no issues no junk. Somewhere about a good 50 miles into driving, the car began
smoking oil out the back. I freaked out and thought something went in the
engine. I found out after going through a cylinder compression test and taking
apart the head that Tomei sent me a faulty turbo. The main seal let loose and
was dumping oil to the exhaust. I sent it back and waited for warranty. From
there the car sat again till May. I bought a house and had to move the car. I
installed the stock turbo and sent out the ECU to Jim Wolf to get the car to
run on the maf and big cam. Amazingly the guys at Jwolf made it run. Car idles,
fires up on the first try, and pulls good. Finally in August-September Tomei
sent me a brand new 8270 arms turbo kit. I never installed it. It sits sealed in
the box and will be included. I did however sell the AEM EMS 2 and the Injector
Dynamics 1000cc injectors. Now for the bad: The stock turbo likes to smoke a little oil after a long idle time. But I have not seen the oil level go down any. I disconnected the e-brake cable because the line kept popping out of the
backing plate. I did however buy a brand new rear 300zx brake kit with lines
and I will include it. (Backing plates, rotors, pads, calipers, lines, shoes).
Ill also throw in some 5 lugs spindles for the rear. Windshield cracked in the passenger side bottom corner but it is not visible.
The body is an 1989. It has some dings and scratches but the car is clean
and shines. I loved it since I could remember. I wish I could keep her but with
many toys and two kids and a house the car sits there and doesn’t move. I’ve
dumped tons of money into it and hope the next person will take care of it and
enjoy it. Thanks for looking, happy bidding, and if you have any questions
please let me know. |

Datsun reveals new On-Do budget sedan in Russia [w/video]
Tue, 08 Apr 2014When Nissan revived the Datsun brand name, it essentially hit the "undo" button on the rebranding it undertook decades ago. But this time, the Datsun name is being used solely as a budget brand for developing markets. The reborn marque launched in India this past July with its Go hatchback, returned in September with the Go+ minivan and revealed the Redi-Go concept just last month. And now it's back again with the new On-Do sedan.
Launched in Moscow by CEO Carlos Ghosn, the On-Do was designed and engineered in Japan specifically for the Russian market - Nissan's fifth largest worldwide - where it will be built at the AvtoVaz plant in Togliatti. Decidedly budget-oriented, the Datsun On-Do is a four-door, five-seat econo-box measuring 172 inches long, 67 inches wide and 60 inches tall with an 18.7 cubic-foot trunk which Datsun describes as class-leading. Punctuating an otherwise bland shape is a large front grille and lighting front and rear that looks (and very well might be) bigger than the wheels.
Not that the Datsun On-Do needs a big contact patch to transfer power to the road: motivation is provided by a 1.6-liter engine with a grand total of - wait for it... wait a little longer - 87 horsepower. Which might strike you as a reasonable amount of muscle, considering the 400,000 rubles Datsun is getting for the On-Do (but consider that translates to about $11,300). That's a couple grand more than what Nissan gets for the Micra in that other giant northern country, or about the same amount it gets for the Versa in the US (which sells in Russia for 499k in rubles) - both of which are powered by what is in all likelihood the same 1.6-liter four but producing 109 hp. Of course Russia has different tax rates than the United States or Canada, but with such little power, the Datsun would fall into Russia's lowest tax bracket.
Should heavy-duty pickup trucks have window stickers with fuel mileage estimates?
Sat, Sep 23 2017If you were to stroll into your nearest Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Nissan, or Ram dealership, you'd find a bunch of pickup trucks. Most of those would have proper window stickers labeled with things like base prices, options prices, location of manufacture, and, crucially, fuel economy estimates. But you'd also run across a number of heavy-duty trucks with no such fuel mileage data from the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA doesn't require automakers to publish the valuable miles-per-gallon measurement for vehicles with gross weight ratings that exceed 8,500 pounds. That makes it difficult for consumers to compare behemoths powered by turbocharged diesel engines – between one another, and between smaller, gasoline-fueled trucks. Consumer Reports doesn't think it should be this way, and it's spearheading an effort (PDF link) to get the government to require manufacturers to publish fuel economy estimates. In its own testing, CR found that heavy-duty pickups powered by Ford's Power Stroke, GM's Duramax, and FCA's Cummins diesel engines (which doesn't include the Ram's EcoDiesel) get worse fuel mileage than their lighter-duty gas-powered siblings. We're not so sure HD-truck buyers are unaware of this fact – big diesels don't really come into their own until big loads are placed in their beds or attached to their trailer hitches. Under heavy workloads, the diesel trucks will almost certainly return greater efficiency than a similar gas-powered truck. What's more, HD trucks with lumbering diesels in general make the driver feel more confident while towing due to greater torque at low engine RPM than gas trucks. They also offer greater max-weight limits. Still, we agree EPA fuel mileage estimates should be offered for heavy-duty pickups. And we think the comparisons provided by Consumer Reports might be interesting to potential buyers. Click here to see the results of CR's tests, and let us know what you think using the poll below.
