Up for sale is my 1993 Nissan 240sx hatchback with the iron block KA24DE and automatic transmission. The vehicle was involved in a minor accident on 4/6/13. The engine and transmission run GREAT. As you can see in the photos my rear quarter panel and door had been hit by a incompetent driver pulling out of a parking spot. Rest assured there is NO frame damage. Just the door and quarter panel are in need of replacement. This was a wake up call as I don't need a car anymore. You could get a used door for about $250 and rear quarter panel for $120.

Instead of fixing this I will save the money for school. The car runs great and was well maintained for the 2 years I have owned it. Oil changes were done every 3 months and fluids were always kept in check. The car was never abused! It was bone stock when I purchased it and since then I had added some small mods to give it a little kick such as 3" catback, intake, obx header and test pipe. The car is sitting on 1.8" lowering springs and 16" XXR2 rims. The windows are tinted 20% all around. It has 4300k hids and autopal high quality euro headlamps. The car has a cd player and 10" subwoofer in the trunk as well. Just added a brand new Goodyear Eagle tire on rear passenger side.

 A lot of parts were recently changed such as;

1) Spark plugs and wires

2) Fuel pump

3) Distributor cap and rotor

4) Valve cover gasket

5) Front rotors and brakes

6) Lower radiator hose

7) Heater hoses

8) Battery

10) Fuel filter

11)Tensioner arm

This car has treated me good and never let me down. I hate letting it go but it's time I part with it.

There are cosmetic issues that need to be addressed like most of these cars have. The windshield has a slight crack which never gave me issues since owned and the trunk could be sanded. Also the rear quarter panel that was hit has rusting which would be replaced anyway, small dent on rear bumper. The alternator may need to be replaced soon since sometimes I have to turn the key a few times for car to start, however it always starts even in cold weather. As I mentioned earlier the car runs great and needs nothing mechanically. Just a little TLC for the body.

The car deserves a new great owner who could either make this a summer project or keep it as is. I have the right to end auction early as car is being sold locally too. If you are not serious about purchasing the car then please do not bid!! Let's not waste each others time here. Good luck on your bids.

A car writer's year in new vehicles [w/video]

Thu, Dec 18 2014

Christmas is only a week away. The New Year is just around the corner. As 2014 draws to a close, I'm not the only one taking stock of the year that's we're almost shut of. Depending on who you are or what you do, the end of the year can bring to mind tax bills, school semesters or scheduling dental appointments. For me, for the last eight or nine years, at least a small part of this transitory time is occupied with recalling the cars I've driven over the preceding 12 months. Since I started writing about and reviewing cars in 2006, I've done an uneven job of tracking every vehicle I've been in, each year. Last year I made a resolution to be better about it, and the result is a spreadsheet with model names, dates, notes and some basic facts and figures. Armed with this basic data and a yen for year-end stories, I figured it would be interesting to parse the figures and quantify my year in cars in a way I'd never done before. The results are, well, they're a little bizarre, honestly. And I think they'll affect how I approach this gig in 2015. {C} My tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015 it'll be as high as 73. Let me give you a tiny bit of background about how automotive journalists typically get cars to test. There are basically two pools of vehicles I drive on a regular basis: media fleet vehicles and those available on "first drive" programs. The latter group is pretty self-explanatory. Journalists are gathered in one location (sometimes local, sometimes far-flung) with a new model(s), there's usually a day of driving, then we report back to you with our impressions. Media fleet vehicles are different. These are distributed to publications and individual journalists far and wide, and the test period goes from a few days to a week or more. Whereas first drives almost always result in a piece of review content, fleet loans only sometimes do. Other times they serve to give context about brands, segments, technology and the like, to editors and writers. So, adding up the loans I've had out of the press fleet and things I've driven at events, my tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015, it'll be as high as 73. At one of the buff books like Car and Driver or Motor Trend, reviewers might rotate through five cars a week, or more. I know that number sounds high, but as best I can tell, it's pretty average for the full-time professionals in this business.

2014 Nissan Maxima gets new Limited Edition model, pricing

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

With a new Maxima expected to debut next year for the 2015 model year, Nissan is only making small changes to its big sedan for 2014. Buyers looking to get behind the wheel of Nissan's "4-Door Sports Car" will be happy to know that the base price for the 2014 Maxima carries over from 2013 starting at $31,000 (*excluding the $810 destination charge).
Aside from two new colors, the only change to the base Maxima S is the addition of a new option group. Sounding very similar to the Sport Package available on the SV, the $750 Limited Edition Package adds smoked Xenon headlights, dark-accented 18-inch wheels, a rear spoiler and fog lights. Stepping up to the SV trim level, the Maxima now comes standard with a rearview camera, Xenon headlights and a seven-inch screen, but its price has also been increased by $850, so it starts at $34,090. Scroll down for more info on the 2014 Maxima.

Nissan Leaf Aero Style wears new body kit in Japan

Thu, 21 Nov 2013

Here we have the Nissan Leaf Aero Style, which the automaker says "offers 100% electric vehicle performance in a new stylish and sporty shape." We call it a Nissan Leaf with a not-terribly-attractive body kit and two-tone wheels. Suffice it to say, it's not much like the conceptual version Nissan showed off at the Tokyo Motor Show back in 2011...
Our blunt assessment of the Leaf Aero Style doesn't necessarily mean it's bad, of course. It's still, best we can tell, a Nissan Leaf through and through, which means it has the same 107 horsepower, 187 pound-feet of torque and 24-kWh battery pack as every other new Leaf. That, in turn, means it has an official range of 75 miles (though you're probably better off assuming you can get 50 or so miles per charge in the real world) and a top speed of 90 miles per hour.
The Nissan Leaf Aero Style will go on sale in Japan in December of 2013, and there's no word on whether or not it will make its way to the States. There's also no official word on whether the Aero Style is actually any more aerodynamic than the standard Leaf, one of the slipperier cars on the market. If you want to read all about Nissan's presence in Tokyo, scroll down below. If you just want to see the new body kit and wheels, check out our high-res image gallery above.
