Late 1988 (S13) Nissan Silvia K's, Fully Restored + Performance Upgrades + SR20DET. USA Legal, EPA Exempt. "26 yrs old"

Selling because I have purchased an exotic car.

Up for sale is my Silvia K's. Introduced in 1988, the Silvia was an instant hit in Japan, thus sparking the sale of the 240SX for example in north america.
This vehicle is eligible for 100% US 50 state Legal ownership, being produced in 1988.
Located Near Buffalo NY/ Detroit MI in Hamilton, Ontario CANADA.
Nationwide shipping etc can be arranged.

This car, as you can see from the recent photos has been fully restored. Previous owner was a master tradesperson, so if you are one yourself, you know good work when you see it.
Starting as a straight, clean, rust free chassis, the body was stripped, subframes removed and SR20DET sent for rebuilding. All parts you can see are either new, restored or polished to complete a very very clean, and LEGAL S13 for US or Canadian buyers. If it can be removed, it was replaced, refurbished, polished or made new in some way. Looks better than showroom! This car has been indoors for almost 6 years until earlier this week.

All bodywork was completed by a competent bodyshop, including the seamless installation of the rear widebody. No rivets, screws, or excessive fillers. OEM Type panel bonding glue was used to affix the panels, and finished by the bodyshop. Looks like factory. Inside, the rear wells were properly removed, and radiused. All sealed off, no leaks or rust waiting to happen.
All the aerobody was also fully fitted, and prepared to give a "factory" fitment and appearance. No shoddy, ill fitting panels here! Please note, I have to correct some panels up front, just waiting on Nissan to get all the new rubber stoppers for the panels.(ordered them ages ago!)

The bottom end is low mileage JDM engine, however the top end of the SR20DET 2.0L DOHC Turbo engine has been fully sorted with some of the best parts on the market. The entire drivetrain as pictured shows as new, and is as close as they come! This car was originally equipped with the unpopular (at least in north america) CA18DET engine, which had been removed by the prev owner.

Carlos Ghosn, the cost cutter who cost a lot in compensation

Mon, Nov 19 2018

PARIS — In his 40 years in the auto industry, the praise Carlos Ghosn has won for turning around businesses has regularly been matched by criticism over the amount he has been paid to do it. In the latest furore over his finances, Japan's Nissan Motor Co said on Monday it planned to oust Ghosn as chairman after alleging he had made personal use of company assets, among other acts of suspected misconduct. The scandal comes just five months after the 64-year-old head of the Renault-Nissan alliance narrowly won a shareholder vote at Renault over his 7.4 million euro ($8.5 million) pay package for 2017, after losing a 2016 vote. Brazilian-born, of Lebanese descent and a French citizen, Ghosn began his career in 1978 at tire maker Michelin, before moving to Renault in 1996, where he oversaw a turnaround at the French automaker that won him the nickname "Le Cost Killer." After Renault sealed an alliance with Nissan in 1999, Ghosn used similar methods to revive the ailing Japanese brand, leading to "business superstar" status in Japan, blanket media coverage and even a manga comic book on his life. As auto markets in western Europe and Japan struggled, Ghosn championed a cheap car for the masses in emerging markets and embraced the electric vehicle before many others. He also never made it a secret that he believed there were too many carmakers in the world and consolidation would continue — in 2016 he added Japan's Mitsubishi Motors to the alliance. But in recent months, attention has increasingly turned to how the complex web of cross-shareholdings between the alliance partners might be simplified to ensure it can thrive following the eventual departure of its main architect. In March, sources close to the matter told Reuters the alliance partners were discussing plans for a closer tie-up in which Nissan would acquire the bulk of the French state's 15 percent stake in Renault. With Japan's Yomiuri newspaper reporting on Monday that Ghosn had been arrested by Tokyo prosecutors on suspicion of under-reporting his salary, the alliance's plans for the future just got more pressing.Writing by Mark PotterRelated Video: Earnings/Financials Plants/Manufacturing Nissan Renault

Renault appoints Dacia Logan creator to head its Nano-rival program in India

Sat, 29 Dec 2012

After watching the Tata Nano post sales numbers smaller than its engine displacement, Renault gave up on its much publicized intention to build a truly inexpensive car to rival it. Then, a month ago, reports emerged that Renault was resuming work on a couple of low-priced cars for emerging markets, but this time it would work with its in-house partner, Nissan. That plan envisions an offering for €3,000 ($3,888 US) and another for €5,000 ($6,400 US), both of which would be more spendy than the Nano but might avoid the charge of being cheap - and nasty - and instead be considered affordable.
A report in Reuters talks to the man in charge, Gerard Detourbet, who has been in Chennai, India since at least August working on the program. Detourbet led the Dacia Logan project and is considered "Renault's low-cost car specialist" and "the father of entry-car programs." This one is reportedly codenamed A-Entry and will create a "'sub-entry' architecture" that will provide roominess beyond the vehicle's price and class, and use an engine with a displacement of 800 cubic centimeters.
It isn't aimed at the Nano, though - it means to take on the products that make up 45-50 percent of India's car market, like the Maruti Suzuki Alto and Hyundai Eon. According to Reuters, out of the 2.6-million-strong Indian car market the Maruti Suzuki line-up alone nabs one million registrations annually. The Alto 800 begins at 244,000 rupees ($4,440 US), the Eon at 300,000 rupees ($5,559 US), the Chevrolet Spark at about 316,000 ($5,750 US); if Renault can nail its price targets it will just about bracket those three and be right in the game.

Nissan Xterra's fate hangs in the balance

Sat, 21 Sep 2013

The Nissan Xterra might not be long for this world, according to a report from Edmunds. The rugged SUV, which has always been a bit more of a hardcore, purpose-built vehicle than the rest of the Nissan SUV range. But it has also suffered from slowing sales, low fuel economy relative to the competition and general neglect, as Nissan has focused on other offerings in its range.
"There are plans to replace it, there are always plans, (but) I am not sure it will happen. I would say in the next six months to a year," Pierre Loing, vice president of product planning for Nissan Americas told Edmunds. Part of the problem, he added, was that the Xterra is a US-only vehicle, which makes it a hard sell in a world where automakers are increasingly depending on global cars.
Besides the economic forces working against the Xterra, it's just a vehicle that hasn't been a huge sales success of late. Customers are more conscious of fuel economy and a body-on-frame SUV that only nets 16 miles per gallon just isn't good enough; arguably why Nissan barely sold 17,000 units last year. We can hold out hope, as the Xterra remains a fun off-roader that we'd hate to see go, but unless Nissan finds a business case or some global partners, this is a vehicle that is on its last leg.
