2002 MITSUBISHI MONTERO SPORT ES AWD WELL MAINTAINED.  ALL RECORDS.

I have owned this vehicle since 2003 and 15K miles, have kept it well maintained and have had very few issues.  Oil changes every 3K miles and I've already changed the timing belt. Tires are relatively new and have plenty of tread. Air blows cold. I finally bought a newer car and unfortunately need to sell this one.  This has been more reliable than my wife's newer Volvo, less to repair and is better in the snow than the Volvo AWD.  Is normally in All Wheel Drive mode but can also be moved into full time locked low or high 4WD when needed.  Nice high seat position as well.  CD player, radio, Power Locks and Windows.  Carpets are very good, I still have the original mats in decent shape and also comes with a rear cargo area protector (not shown in the pics).  I have the original side rails but removed them a few years ago when they started to show surface rust and can include if requested.

Condition Issues:  Interior - some spots on the cloth seats need to be shampoo'd out.  Nothing major.  No tears. The rest is in great shape.  Exterior- some corner dings, dents (right rear in pics) and scratches but also nothing major. There is some rust showing behind the front wheel well (tried to show in pics) but need to be close to see. Rear hatch has a balky rear latch and probably needs a new latch as is closes but the latch does not pivot to lock the door. A mechanic probably could figure it out quickly.  If I was keeping the Montero I would have taken it in to have it fixed. Also, the remote door opener was reset by the dealer but stopped working again recently.

This is a 10+ year old car obviously so sold as is.

Overall, a strong runner, decent exterior in a good color and ready for winter.  Just no more room for it.

Please email me with any questions and I will respond as quickly as possible.  Buyer to arrange and pay for any shipping although eBay offers shipping options.  As soon as payment is received, I will sign over the title and release the vehicle for pick up.  If you have any questions again, please let me know.

Thanks and happy bidding!

Mitsubishi Evolution reborn as electric crossover

Wed, Oct 25 2017

Forget everything you ever knew about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. The potent, raw sport sedan that was a semi-mythical enthusiast fantasy for years is dead. In its place now comes an electric crossover, called the e-Evolution, as the Japanese automaker moves forward in a new era where mobility matters more than performance. It's a tacit admission that a small company can't afford to compete in the narrowest of niches — sport sedans — and a shrinking one at that. The e-Evolution shows Mitsubishi's new strategic direction, and it will be capable of using artificial intelligence, connectivity and other mobility solutions. Enthusiasts will take heart that the e-Evolution has all-wheel drive, a sophisticated three-motor system that works with Mitsu's Super All-Wheel Control to aid traction and driving dynamics. The electric batteries feeding the powertrain are placed in the middle of the concept underneath, which provides a low center of gravity. The design is striking. It's sharp with indentures, a prominent grille and large wheels set at the corners. There's huge air intakes, the ride height is elevated, and the back end features a hexagon design that recalls the spare tire cover from the Mitsubishi Shogun off-roader. The back also has jet-styled mini tailfins that help pass air cleanly by the sides to aid aerodynamics. Inside is a large flat screen bookended by two smaller screens. The e-Evolution also has sensors that help the vehicle read road conditions and try to coordinate the driver's intent. In short, this isn't your father's Evo. That's not Mitsubishi's intent. Rather, it's putting all of its best technologies under the umbrella of its most famous name on a vehicle that will compete in the largest part of the market. It's no longer the Evo as you knew it, but it's definitely an Evolution. Related Video:

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Mitsubishi Mighty Max Super Max

Mon, Dec 4 2017

While the Montero SUV sold well enough in the United States, Mitsubishi-badged pickup sales didn't quite measure up to those of their Toyota, Nissan, and Mazda rivals. Second-generation Mighty Maxes are hard to find, so this '91 in Colorado was worthy of inclusion in the Junkyard Gem canon. The ADX Florence Supermax federal prison is just 100 miles to the south of this self-service wrecking yard, but it opened several years after this truck was built. The garish lettering and striping has the look of a dealer-installed option package. Chrysler sold rebadged Mitsubishi pickups for decades, as the Plymouth Arrow and Dodge D-50/Ram 50. When Mitsubishi began selling vehicles under their own brand in the United States in 1982, the Triton pickup got the Mighty Max name. The Dodge Ram 50 always outsold its near-identical Mighty Max twin, but the debut of the all-Detroit Dakota in 1987 cut into Ram 50 sales; by 1995, truck shoppers who wanted a Mitsubishi pickup had no choice but the Mighty Max. After 1996, the Mighty Max was mighty gone. This one is quite solid and doesn't appear to have been wrecked, and the odometer shows a surprisingly low mileage figure for a 26-year-old Japanese pickup. The 2.4-liter 4G54 four-cylinder engine is gone, purchased by a junkyard shopper. This engine family went into everything from the Mitsubishi Galant to the Hyundai Sonata, not to mention the Chery V5. The sunroof has an aftermarket look, which fits with the SUPER MAX dealer-option theory. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Mitsubishi trucks were pitched as cheap, cheap, cheap in the United States.

2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport gets modest styling, powertrain enhancements

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

Mitsubishi sales continue to show progress in 2014. In fact, sales were up 54.17 percent in the US in May compared to last year. In hopes of keeping those numbers in the black, the Japanese automaker is introducing some mechanical upgrades to the Outlander Sport, its best-selling model, for the 2015 model year.
The biggest change for the 2015 Outlander Sport is its improved CVT that offers better fuel economy. Front-wheel-drive models with the upgraded CVT get an estimated improvement of 1 mile per gallon across the board to 25 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined; all-wheel drive models get an estimated 1 mpg better on the highway and in the combined rating, bringing the numbers up to 24/30/27 mpg. Mitsubishi claims the new transmission is the equivalent of fitting the Outlander Sport with a seven-speed automatic. The five-speed manual is still also available on the front-wheel drive ES trim, rated at 24 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. All models also get electric power steering, and the company reports that the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is enhanced as well, but still makes the same 148 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque from last year.
The 2015 Outlander Sport also sees some very minor aesthetic improvements. The audio panel inside now has piano black and silver trim, and the SE trim comes with LED running lights. Also, the interior gets thicker glass in the side windows and more noise insulation for a quieter ride.
