  • Passed August Massachusetts Safety & Emissions Inspection
  • All Wheel Drive (AWD)
  • Anti-Lock brakes
  • Platinum plugs

  • A/C is cold, All scheduled maintenance
  • Dealer serviced for all recalls (fuel filler neck, rear differential)
  • Multiple cup holders in front & back.

Is this vehicle in like-new “show room” condition? Of course not! After all, is has seen 100,000 miles and 10 model years. But it looks and drives like a much younger car. This is because the engine has barely 1/3 the mileage, the tires are new, it has been fanatically maintained, and it has only 1 owner.

What are the flaws?

  • The rear bumper has a minor boo-boo, probably acquired while parking. You can see it in the close up,
  • One headlamp is new. This makes the other appear weather-fogged. (It can be buffed or replaced).
  • TPM was a new feature with this car. Tire pressure dash light has never worked properly. Even with
NEW tires, it always lights. Dealer has replaced TPM, but a design flaw makes this dummy light useless.
  • Mitsubishi uses plastic break-away snaps to attach the cowl (trim below front bumper). It's a poor design
for an SUV. After scraping over a tree stump, I added strong plastic zip-ties (they were suggested by the
    dealer!).
They work great, but if you get under the front bumper, it appears a bit unprofessional.

2014 Mitsubishi Outlander unveiled with new look, standard seating for seven

Thu, 29 Nov 2012

The 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander wears the new face previewed at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, and adds a host of features on top of its seven standard chairs. Ditching the shark-nosed Lancer-inspired front has reduced drag, increased use of high-tensile steel means a 200-pound weight loss and the reworked 2.4-liter four-cylinder paired a CVT will all result in what Mitsubishi says is one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the seven-passenger segment. Looks-wise, around the rest of the vehicle come sharper sculpting and more character lines.
Reaching higher inside, the IP is now soft-touch, and a heavily restyled interior with woodgrain accents is more somber, but more elegant. Mod-cons have gone up a step, too: the 2014 Outlander getting a next-generation nav system, a power tailgate that can be opened from the driver's seat and safety tech like Lane Departure Warning.
There's a press release below with more info, and high-res shots from the LA Auto Show floor above.

Mitsubishi readying Outlander refresh

Sat, 02 Aug 2014

Mitsubishi has a big secret to keep under wraps when it comes to the looks of its refreshed Outlander crossover. Our spy shooters recently caught it testing in Germany, and the CUV had enough buckles, straps and snaps covering up the front end for the vehicle to fit in at an S&M party for cars. The rear was hidden just as thoroughly, too.
Given the areas that Mitsubishi's engineers are obscuring, it seems safe to assume that the Outlander is getting a heavily revised front end with redesigns for the grille, front bumper and possibly hood. The lights might be reshaped too, judging from these photos. The changes are just as hard to spot at the rear, but you can make out the shape of the taillights. They appear more rectangular than the current model, and the bumper looks more angular, as well.
This is likely our first glimpse of the of the major restyle for the Outlander that Mitsubishi execs told Autoblog about in July. The interior is also getting an update to improve interior material quality, we were told. The revisions are supposed to coincide with the launch of the PHEV model in the US at roughly the same time.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S shows what a facelift can do [w/video]

Fri, 03 Oct 2014

Sometimes you need a second chance to get things right. Technologically, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is a pretty cool vehicle, with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and additional electric motors providing more thrust. However, the CUV never really looked the part for all of its innovation. The Mitsubishi designers are taking another crack with the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, and the vehicle shows what a massive improvement some tweaks can make.
The most obvious of these changes is the completely different front end with a more vertical design. The headlights are reshaped with LED running lights outlining them, and the new airdam that puts a massive X right on the front grille in black and chrome with some more LEDs down below. The designers don't stop there and have a major revision to the rear with taillights running all the way across. Inside, there's black wood grain trim and leather seats.
The update takes the CUV from boring to somewhat exciting, and the even better news is that some of these updates might make it to a rumored refresh in 2016 that could even come here. Scroll down to watch Mitsubishi's teaser video for the Concept-S with more views of it and the company's full press release.
